Winnipeg Sea Bears History
The Winnipeg Sea Bears are a professional basketball team in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CBL). Founded in 2022, the Sea Bears are the latest expansion team to join the CBL’s Western Conference. In their inaugural 2023 season, Winnipeg placed second in the Western Conference and advanced to the play-in game of the 2023 CEBL playoffs. The 2023 squad also became the first one in CEBL history to collect four major league awards in a single season, with recipients for Most Valuable Player (Teddy Allen), Coach of the Year (Mike Taylor), Sixth Man of the Year (Jelani Watson-Gayle) and U SPORTS Player of the Year (Simon Hildebrandt).

Winnipeg Sea Bears at Canada Life Centre
Canada Life Centre is the home of the CEBL’s Winnipeg Sea Bears. Opened in 2004, Canada Life Centre is located in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba and has hosted the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets since 2011. In their first season, the Sea Bears led the league in average attendance and placed first in total season attendance by a margin of over 20,000 fans. Winnipeg set a CEBL attendance record at their inaugural 2023 home opener, which they broke once again later that season in their first playoff matchup at Canada Life Centre.
