Nick Gilder and Doug & the Slugs

Streetheart was supposed to be there but Kenny Shields took ill so Nick Gilder substituted. It was a pretty good concert and we were up nice and close at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino. Doug and the Slugs were great. Doug actually passed away 10 years or so ago but the singer that replaced him did a great job. We listened to the great oldies such as Tom Cat Prowl, Day by Day, Too Bad, Making it Work, and Chinatown Calculation.
Nick Gilder was also great. I did not realize he was such a prolific songwriter and he wrote such hit songs as "Rated X" for Pat Benetar and "The Warrior" for Scandal. He also did a great job singing Billy Idol's "White Wedding" (or was it Rebel Yell - I forget now) and Deep Purple's "Highway Star". Not sure if he wrote those last two. His voice is not quite what it used to be but he did a great job on the hits "Roxy Roller" and "Hot Child in the City". He got called back for an encore and sang Hot Child in the City again. One girl got up on stage and danced with him a little during the encore before security got her to leave. Another very sexy girl then jumped up there and was slow dancing against him pretty good and contorting her body; twerking like Miley Cyrus but she was much better looking than Miley. He was obviously enjoying it quite a bit and was speechless for 2 minutes or so while the music continued to play before getting back to his singing. When he could speak again he said that this was one of the benefits of being in the music business and that he had been performing for a long time and nothing quite like that had ever happened to him before. I got the feeling he would have liked to have her number.
