  • Lovely concert in a gorgeous setting!

by Wally on 2024-06-23Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

Both singer/songwriters are old favourites but it’s hard to carry off a one person show like each of these attempted. Lowe was a little more effective because he really tried to engage the audience—Sexsmith would have helped his cause by engaging the audience with some stories, anecdotes —in other words-personality.

  • Another magical musical night!

by Rockin Al Pitch on 2024-06-18Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

What a joy to see Nick Lowe who I saw with Dave Edmunds and Rockpile way back in the day when I lived in Los Angeles. Of course the Stiff label mates rocked hard that night. This evening was a mellower take with acoustic and solo and accompanied by another gem of an artist - Ron Sexton! Each did a great set and then when they joined together the harmonies added to the magic of an already perfect evening! Also really enjoyed the lounge upstairs with all the Burton Cumming and Guess Who items. I hope Nick comes back again soon( Perhaps with the full band that would be fantastic and an added bonus)

  • Spectacular Evening!

by B. Trice on 2024-06-18Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

What a wonderful evening of music and stories. Both Ron Sexsmith (opening act) and Nick Lowe are true entertainers. Just alone with their guitar they thoroughly entertained the entire audience. It was also very special to have Ron join Nick on stage at the end of his set. The Venue, The Burton Cummings Theatre is beautiful with amazing acoustics. On a side note, I met Nick Lowe walking on Portage Avenue that afternoon, a true gentleman. My review title says it all.

  • One of the best concerts I have seen

by Margi on 2024-06-18Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Thank you! It was thoroughly enjoyable to see Nick Lowe and Ron Sexsmith. Fantastic. I laughed, I cried, and I danced in my seat.

  • Brilliant

by BobbyL on 2024-06-13Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Nick Lowe was as impressive as the first time I saw him here in Vancouver touring the "Impossible Bird "release He's such a unique ,multi-talented & polished musician ,who's song's never get old, but age better with time When I finally grow up I want to be like Nick Lowe the original "Jesus of Cool"

  • Great night

by Rummy on 2024-06-13Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Ron Sexsmith opened and was excellent. Nick Lowe followed. Nick struggled to remember a few songs but for me he was the highlight of the night. He sang “Allison” at the end of the night and it was sensational. My daughter accompanied me and she preferred Ron Sexsmith. The two performers did a duet of “Peace, Love, and Understanding” and “Cruel to be Kind”. It was a great night.

  • Singin', Geetar playin', and dancin'

by BillVancouver on 2024-06-13Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Fantastic short tunes with well thought-out guitar parts. He inspires me to sing and play guitar like him! Nice rhythmic dancin' footsteps as well. Humble and friendly too. Super solo artist!

  • Lowe sets the bar high!

by Leakycondo on 2024-06-13Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Nick Lowe and Ron Sexsmith set the bar high with an intimate and classi set at the Commodore in Vancouver on June 10th. A joy to watch!

  • Nick Lowe and Ron Sexsmith

by Musicfan on 2024-06-13Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Ron Sexsmith and Nick Lowe played an accoustic concert at the Commodore and it was sublime. First was Ron Sexsmith, who played an hour long set. Then came Nick Lowe who played for about 1 1/2 hours. At a couple of points they played together. It was a wonderful night of great music by two great artists.

  • Nick was amazing!

    by Red1959 on 2011-01-23Mod Club - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

To the person who was bored-why did you bother going? Nick has evolved as an artist, you might know that if you had listened to his last five albums or so. Nick delivered as expected from my stand point. A great playlist, great band and it was nice to Geriant Watkins who has played with Nick, Dave Edmunds and Elvis Costello to name a few. I heard a couple of negitive comments on the way out, sharing the other reviewers comments about a rock'in roll sensibility, other than the odd song it was back in the day with Brinsley, Edmunds and Rockpile that he may have been a rocker, although I have read he considered himself more a pop-per than a rocker.
