About

Nine Inch Nails are a progressive, Grammy-winning industrial rock band composed of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Formed in Cleveland, Ohio as a solo project for singer, songwriter and producer Trent Reznor in 1988, Nine Inch Nails have released 11 studio albums, six EPs and three remix albums, starting with 1989’s Pretty Hate Machine and breakout debut singles “Down In It” and “Head Like a Hole.” For 1992’s Broken EP, NIN reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 while its standout record “Wish” won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance. In the midst of hitting No. 2 and No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for 1994’s The Downward Spiral and 1999’s The Fragile, respectively, NIN released Hot 100-charting singles “Closer” and “The Perfect Drug” and earned a second Best Metal Performance Grammy at the 1996 ceremony for “Happiness in Slavery.” Nine Inch Nails went on hiatus until the 2005 chart-topper With Teeth, then hit the Hot 100 again with singles “The Hand That Feeds” and “Only,” and later with “Survivalism" from their 2007 follow-up Year Zero. Longtime collaborator and English producer Atticus Ross became an official member of NIN in 2016, established with a trilogy of releases culminating in 2018’s Bad Witch. As composers, the duo have earned two Academy Awards, two Grammys and one Emmy. In 2020, Nine Inch Nails were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. NIN also composed the score for the 2025 film Tron: Ares.

  • Nine Inch Nails still rock

Though I thought Jane's Addiction was very good, Nine Inch Nails were amazing, and dare I say, worthy of the closing slot! If the stories are true and this was the last time I get to see NIN live, I am truly thankful that I got one last chance to see them. If anyone has a chance to see Trent and the guys before this tour ends, I would very highly recommend it!

It was an intresting setup for a NIN show. Streetsweeper opened with a nice little set that got the crowd craving some NIN. Unlike some of the other NIN shows I have been to the crowd got really into the opening act, something that was nice to see. Once NIN took the stage it was clear Trent was a little out of his element. Becasue the set took place during the day, there was a lack of the usual lighting equipment and the almost standard projection side of the show. This left the crowd with a few blinkers and other not so great lights. The daylight really seamed to bother Trent as he went though his set. A few malfunctions of equipment on stage lead to a bit of destruction. Even a nasty tumble mid-song didn't keep Trent from pounding out the tracks. The set list was a little unusual, drawing from a lot of their earlier work, and the inclusion of "I'm Afrraid of Americans" (a song co-written by David Bowie). I would guess most of the audience was with me in crossing our fingers that having that played may lead to the legendary 'Perfect Drug', we had no such luck. The crowd was treated to a small 'Goodbye' song at the start, and it really did make the show that much more amazing. The set was short, and what felt like an intermission saw the rise of JA and their blunder of a set. All and all a pretty crappy show, but for those who have followded Trent as he has come and gone in Toronto you will agree when I say it was amazing, and I wouldn't have missed it for the world :)

  • NINJA played all the classics!

A great show for 90's alt fans, who got to relive that period with a full selection of songs from NIN & JA. The sound quality and performance were good, and none of the best songs were left out.

  • Beautiful

We attended the first Janes Addication, NIN Toronto Lollaplooza concert. Both were fantastic. At this concert both bands were much more sophisticated and more technically tight.

  • NIN was amazing

by elcarmino on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Nine Inch Nails was amazing as always but would have liked them to play longer. Didn't like Jane's Addiction at all......left the concert early because I couldn't take hearing them anymore.

  • AWESOME SHOW!

Great show! Jane's addiction stole the show with NIN opening for some reason.

  • Good show..

by sayhey on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

...but not as good as the one in Hamilton a few months ago. And it was a bit too early a show in my opinion.

  • Nine Inch Nails is a life changing experience!!!!

Ive seen NIN four times now, and each time , they get better and better. It would've been way better if i was on the floor but ohwell. it was still an amazingly incredible show and i would love to do it alllll over again.

NIN and JA were both amazing!! One of the best shows I have seen in a long time, the Amphitheatre as always was a great venue to see live music!

  • Nine Inch Nails Jane's Addiction......PERFECT

by Michael on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I couldn't believe how well the two bands worked together. I didn't get to see street sweeper as i showed up right when they were finishing up so i don't have anything to say about them. However, NIN was aawesome as usual and there set list left nothing to be desired.. First time i've ever heard them play i'm afraid of americans live (unforgettable) and all of my other fav's were thrashed away to my complete bliss. I will never ever miss a chance to see them live if they ever come back.....I HOPE YOU DO!. Jane's was also quite the sight, amazing live show and great guitar work. Such a pleasure to watch. Wonderful show all around.

NIN was awesome as always. JA put on a pretty great set, though I was mainly there for NIN.

  • NIN /Jane's Addiction

by melow on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the NIN performance ..... the energy that was felt through out the whole crowd was undeniable and amazing to watch at the same time ....... for a moment there everyone was just there for the show, doing their own thing and once they started playing everyone was singing and just enjoying the show

  • NIN was incredible !!!

by terminalreality on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

We went to this show for NIN & they gave the performance we knew they would, which was amazing. The only issue was the fact NIN was the opener & played in daylight & the venue was a major pain. Getting into the parking lot was a nightmare, only to be surpassed by getting into the facility with inept security & venue staff.

  • Solid Show

by Foxman on 2009-07-13Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

NIN blew the socks of Jane's Addiction. Very solid show from both though. NIN blew through their setlist and had the crowd rocking. Jane's Addiction was a little more low key and they played more 'B' sides. It was great however to see the original group back together.

  • awsome

Set was amazing. Great show. Could not of asked for a better performance

Well done, Mr. Reznor. Well done, indeed. Please don't go away for good. Enjoy your break, renew and revive your creativity, and I'm sure I speak for every fan who's attended this tour when I say I hope we see you again soon.

Jane's Addiction just weren't up to thier normal performance. Disappointed with them but thankfully Nine Inch Nails were amazing!
