About

Nine Inch Nails are a progressive, Grammy-winning industrial rock band composed of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Formed in Cleveland, Ohio as a solo project for singer, songwriter and producer Trent Reznor in 1988, Nine Inch Nails have released 11 studio albums, six EPs and three remix albums, starting with 1989’s Pretty Hate Machine and breakout debut singles “Down In It” and “Head Like a Hole.” For 1992’s Broken EP, NIN reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 while its standout record “Wish” won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance. In the midst of hitting No. 2 and No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for 1994’s The Downward Spiral and 1999’s The Fragile, respectively, NIN released Hot 100-charting singles “Closer” and “The Perfect Drug” and earned a second Best Metal Performance Grammy at the 1996 ceremony for “Happiness in Slavery.” Nine Inch Nails went on hiatus until the 2005 chart-topper With Teeth, then hit the Hot 100 again with singles “The Hand That Feeds” and “Only,” and later with “Survivalism" from their 2007 follow-up Year Zero. Longtime collaborator and English producer Atticus Ross became an official member of NIN in 2016, established with a trilogy of releases culminating in 2018’s Bad Witch. As composers, the duo have earned two Academy Awards, two Grammys and one Emmy. In 2020, Nine Inch Nails were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. NIN also composed the score for the 2025 film Tron: Ares.

  • NIN/JA One night I wish I could relive

    by Isha5505 on 2009-07-16Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I can honestly say this was one of the most truly amazing concerts I've seen of NIN's . Every act was unforgettable and amazing. NIN played a setlist that was all over the place in terms of albums. Sweet sweeper and Janes were equally as amazing both captivated my attention even though I wasn't familar with their work. I would recommend going to see NIN at virgin fest. to anyone who didn't go to this one!

not enough energy from the crowd. Best part was Pig. Dave Navarro should have played with NIN during their set.

  • Jane's Addiction was the best concert EVER!!!

by queenmeen on 2009-07-16Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

What can I say. If you ever get a chance to attend something at Fiddler's Green? Go for it. What an amazing venue. If you happen to be from Canada you will find the crowd to be very different from what you are used to and very laid back but no one will try and trample you so that is a bonus. NIN was amazing but I've seen them indoors and missed the quality of that light show. Janes Addiction was incredible, sound was perfect, band was energetic. Well worth driving 40 hours round trip from Edmonton, Alberta for!

  • ~~Sweet Show~~

this show was amazing at an awesome venue! Lawns were fun with tons of ppl and short line ups for the wash rooms but long lines for beer! Guess that's to be expected tho....I had an amazing experience and loved every minute!!

  • NinJa show kicked!

by Corporal on 2009-07-16Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I wasn't sure what to expect from either band, I went in thinking it would be a lame last hoorah but they pulled together and surprised me. It was uncomfortably overcrowded to the point where I could barely see the performers but it didn't really matter. When Perry came on stage I thought he looked like a little feminine Robocop with his outfit. I wonder if that occured to him?

  • excellent show

by angjus on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

NIN rocked as usual even though it was weird to see them in the daylight but JA really surprised with the excellent presentation. All in all amazing

  • NIN|JA 2009 surpassed my expectations!

by Amac on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The comcert was amazing! It was a great surprise to see Tom Morello with Street Sweeper Social Club. NIN was outstanding as per usual, Trent Reznor never ceases to amaze me. I was anxious to see Jane's Addiction cause it had been a long time, and lost my MIND when I saw that Dave Navarro was there( I LOVE HIM ). I was kinda jealous of the chick in the front row with the red hair that he kissed. Perry Farrell was great too, a little curious about his outfit though. All in all it was a kick ass show and I'd go again in a heart beat!

  • NINJa ROCKED

by brendan on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

NIN had the tougher job in this show as they came out with the sun still shining. Sttill the Amphitheatre was more packed than i had ever seen for an opening band. The crowd was wild and went wild throughout the show. After NIN I truly thought i had gotten my money's worth. The Jane's Addiction came on and although it didn['t have the theatric of their larger shows they played every song you wanted to hear. What a setlist for both bands. Incredible.

  • too damn short....

    by JP13 on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

All the rumblings about Virgin 09 aside.... This show was far too short ( as most are at toronto's crummiest of venues) considering it is in all likelyhood the last nails outing in our fair city.... had the pleasure of seeing both these bands several times since 2000 ( nearly all of those in Toronto) and save the fragility 2.0 stop and the 01 Jane's show at ACC, this was the best performance put forth by either one... got my fingers crossed for Virgin please please let trent close the show... I'll finally have a reason to go to Virgin!!!

  • NIN/JA

by LetDownInIt on 2009-07-15DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 3 out of 5

NIN set was slow song heavey. Members were sick. JA had the crowd eating out of their hands with a Detroit Rock City Medley. Security was aweful. They DO NOT enforce the no smoking policey, EVEN when asked by us. Drunk drivers abounded after the show making the walk from the venue rather frightning.

  • Nin/Ja '09 slayed the audience! Call 911!!!

by Palemusashi on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I came late and missed Tom Morrello's band, Streetcar something or other, and arrived at the beginning of the NIN set, which rocked. Trent sounds far, far better than his studio product, which is obviously the bare minimum for a live act, and was fantastic live. Much energy and without the full light/smoke show that they normally have. Played all their old hits (head like a hole, etc) and their new ones too. Jane's addiction, who was not promoting a new album as their last release Stray's was from '03, did a bangup job promoting all their old albums. Playing tracks from every album and ending with their classic, "Jane Say's" in the encore. Both groups were masters at their craft and I recommend to all.

  • Jane's Addiction Delivers!

by redheadedsenora on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

First of all, I must say that I usually attend concerts alone. I happen to like the "alternative/sub-pop" genre and in my demographic, it gets increasingly difficult to find concert-going companions. A good concert allows me to immerse myself in the music and to mingle with like-minded music afficionados. On June 2, 2009 the NINJA tour came to the Molson Amphitheatre. My primary reason for going was to watch Perry Farrell and Jane's Addiction in action. And did they deliver! They had me from the first note. Perry Farrell was his usual self and chose to wear a wonderful ensemble which including a black leather corset. They played their big hits ("Jane Said", "Been Caught Stealing") as well as some more obscure tunes. Nine Inch Nails played a tight set. I am less fond of their music than Addiction but I enjoyed them nonetheless. Tom Morello and his group of Street Sweepers were entertaining and, not surprisingly, their music was reminiscent of Rage Against the Machine. All in all, a fun night and not a bad way to spend a few hours alone!

  • NIN - what more could you ask for?

by chambres on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

NIN! NIN! I have never seen this band live. As much as I love their music, the opportunity never arose. When I heard that they were coming to the Molson Amphitheatre I was more than ecstatic. I was disappointed that they appeared on the stage at 7:30pm, my friend and I nearly missed them. They were amazing. It was nice to hear Trent's rough voice and the heavy musical melodies that accompanied him. What made the experience more wonderful, was hearing everyone sing along to a few of their songs especialy HURT. I had chills... Jane's Addiction was another band I have yet to see, and they were great! Both bands had awesome energy, but I wished NIN would have closed the show, playing a longer set. All in all I would see both bands again...hopefully they come back :)

  • Janes and NIN....like the old days

by DrWoody on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first show in a decade to remind me of what a concert should be. NIN played a diverse set of old, new and rare songs and Janes Addicition put on what can only be described as a true rock performance. Fabulous sets by both groups.

  • NINJA was sweet

by ConcertSnob on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Only thing that wouldve made the show better was to have NIN play second, other than that it was amazing!

  • NIN/JA (Toronto) Could've Been Better...

    by Hippz420 on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction were both amazing, but being an avid NIN fan myself, they could've had at least as good of a set as Jane's Addiction did. They didn't even get the two big video screens on either side of the stage. Also, their show was mostly during daylight hours, so the lighting wasn't that great. On top of that, they didn't even have as long of a set as JA did. But, given that this was an outdoor (well, sort of) venue, this was a pretty alright show. I would highly recommend any NIN or JA show to come, because it will be NIN's last in 20 years, and one of JA's first in 15 years.. Both milestone shows.

  • NIN was AWESOME

  • Cool show

by emdee on 2009-07-14Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

We did not realize that NIN was opening fore Jane's Addiction and so we got there half way through their set. A little diasapointing concidering that we were there to see them more so than JA. Regardless, can't go wrong with NIN live!!!!
