Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

    Hockey

by Joe Blough on 2024-10-13Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

Game was fine. Venue is very tired. Seats need upgraded badly. Line up for mens washrooms were crazy bad. Even ladies were better. New arena to be built so nothing will be done to improve this one.

    Ledge

The ledge is the only way to watch a Sens game, food, service, and the view.

    Good hockey, concessions are ridiculous

by Mac on 2024-10-08Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

I enjoyed the hockey game but the concession prices are ridiculous. $18 for a pop and bottle of water! I have season tickets for the Ottawa 67's and this experience was a good reminder why. The Senators are a fun team to watch but I'll never attend more than one or two games per year because the greed is out of control. How are families supposed to afford this??

Sens Fan Fest - Last year was better!

by Sam on 2024-10-02Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

The Sens Fan Fest in 2023 was way better then this year. The deals were absolutely great but no autographs at all from the players was a disappointment. The kids love to get them, doesn't cost anything but their time. The selfies weren't as popular because of this. Last year also, the games to win merch were much funner and interesting. Their wasn't much to do this year. Hopefully we can go back to the model of 2023.

Was okay, but it seemed that some aspects from previous years were paired back. Not sure if I will go next year…..

An awesome time, even those wearing blue & white team jerseys were decent enough.

    First night glitches

by MVP on 2024-09-27Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

The game was great ! I also really enjoyed the band that played between periods as well. But the arena vendors seemed quite unprepared for the crowd. I ordered a simple cheeseburger - it took 20 minutes. No vinegar for the fries. Another vendor of ice cream and bottled soft drinks had a line that took another 15 minutes due to the slow payment process. Scanning the QR code in the parking lot didn't work on my phone - but I was able to complete the purchase later at home. I'm sure the next game day was better, but I'll probably eat before getting to the arena next time !

Was ok atmosphere is never too notch in Ottawa

    by Sj on 2024-08-12

Went to watch a game with my kid and had a sens fan chirping the whole time being us in the bathroom. Poor sportsmanship from sens fans especially in front of children pretty embarrassing actually.

by Nicholas on 2024-04-16Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

It was great! The staff was awesome.! It was my son's first Sens' game and everything was wonderful. Better experience with the staff than anywhere else I went in the NHL.

    Good

by Sudsy21 on 2024-04-09Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

Was good experience except for the kids in front of us who wouldn't sit in their seats making it difficult to watch and see the game. There need to be ushers in each section to control this while the game is on. I get it when teams score everyone is up cheering. But during the game not acceptable, pay money to watch the game not the back of some kids blocking the view of the game while their parents also do nothing about it.

    Great Show

by Stephan R on 2024-03-21Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

It was an extremely long ride to get to the CT Centre from downtown Ottawa, but the show was worth it. The Sens have a talented young team and they are fun to watch. They play is a very nice arena and the ambiance was top notch. I would definitely return - hopefully in a new arena closer to downtown.

    Good Time

by Mike on 2024-03-15Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

Arena staff was amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Entertainment between action on the ice was basic, but still good. Had a great time at the game. The parking lot after the game was a nightmare. It took 45 minutes to just to get to exit the parking lot. There has to be a better way to move traffic.

    Fun night despite accessibility shortcomings

by TerryB on 2024-03-15Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

One of the two of us attending uses a wheelchair and there were a couple of areas for improvement. The first was getting into Bert's restaurant. There was a metal detector and the (standard size) wheelchair did not fit. Restaurant staff seemed very surprised, which was surprising to us. They had to move the detector back, and move some other barriers to make room for the wheelchair to move around the detector and into the building. This caused some fuss, created a longer lineup and was generally not very welcoming. The staff were great - good people in a situation that has not been fully thought through. We sat in row 2 of WC seating in section 219. It was a lot like sitting in a bunker and felt like the space was created as an afterthought. It was dark and dingy and we could not see the scoreboard and video screen because of the overhang. We've been to 3 NHL rinks with the wheelchair and Canadian Tire Centre ranks a distant third in terms of the overall experience and the feeling of fitting in seamlessly. Good product, good staff, poor performance in terms of making a person in a mobility device feel welcome and participating on the same terms as everyone else.
