About

Peter Gabriel’s five-decade-long career includes nine studio albums, film scores for the likes of Martin Scorsese, six Grammy Awards and two separate inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a solo artist and founder of ’70s prog-rock pioneers Genesis). As a solo artist, Gabriel has sold an estimated 16 million albums worldwide, with his fifth studio album — 1986’s So — going five-times platinum in the U.S. and producing the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Sledgehammer.” Gabriel’s catalog of hits also includes ballads like “In Your Eyes,” which was featured in an iconic scene from the 1989 teen rom-com, Say Anything. Gabriel has performed in front of countless sold-out crowds on world tours that often include large-scale performances and conceptual set design. In May 2023, Gabriel embarked on i/o – The Tour, his first world tour in seven years, which features songs from his forthcoming 10th studio album, i/o — his first full-length album of new songs in over two decades.

    The Best

by Axon on 2023-10-11Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Without a doubt the best concert we have ever been to. The band was too notch. The artwork and graphics were mind blowing!!! Peter was as good as he ever has been and likely better as his new material touched all of us there. Thank you for the thrill of a lifetime!

    PG Rocks

by Fat Johnny on 2023-10-11Rogers Arena - Vancouver

AWESOME. Though the crowd was pasty white geriatrics, PG rocked. Levin & Katche provided the backbone and Rhodes kept us mesmerized. PG vocals were spot on and the the back up singers almost stole the show. "Digging in the Dirt"just freakin' ,masterful. New material for the most part was impressive. Time to get King Crimson & Dweezil Zappa back.

    Best ever

by Wallflower on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I’ve seen Peter Gabriel in many manifestations since 1982. I saw him live in Mexico. I saw him in Buffalo New York, and I’ve seen him here in Edmonton. Hard to believe that at 73, this man can still put out such meaningful, pertinent and exquisite music. His lyrics have always been more than just words on a page. A humanitarian, he has brought many important activism stories to the forefront. This time, he adds another dimension, that being visual art provided by a diverse group of artists. The band was, bar none, more than qualified… Most of them, multi instrumentalists playing French horn, flute, cello, trumpet, guitars, keyboards, violin, tin, whistle, drums and percussion, Chapman stick, bass, fretless, bass, and even Arco bass. 40 years since I’ve seen him for the first time, and I’ve savoured every single album he’s put out. I’m not sure if I feel the cohesiveness of the other works he’s produced, but seeing him live, put it all together for me. Much respect and admiration for this talented, creative genius.

    From the floor ROW 28

by Eugene on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Hi All; yes from the floor there were only two things I didn't love about the show. 1. the bass drum kick was so heavy from the floor row 28 that it drowned out most of the fine instrumentation from the musicians especially the low end. 2. the stage should have been about three feet higher to afford a great view from the floor.... otherwise the sound system was superb the show was extraordinary and the set list was so coherent....the I/O songs are fantastic, artistic, real and follow the three meaningfull things in life. This was a bucket list performance for myself and wife. But Peter please drop Sledge Hammer i know its a crowd pleaser but its getting old to listen to.

    Remarkable experience

by Michael on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I am 62 years old and I’ve been to many concerts in my life. This is if not my favorite, at least the top three ever. I was a bit concerned about Peter Gabriel‘s age, but he nailed it. Audio was outstanding visual effects were amazing and the band members were a world-class, anyone interested and Peter gave us music in the past or even if you never heard of them I highly recommend checking them out if you get a chance 5 1/2 stars

Great concert but some venue issues.

by GC on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

It was a great concert, great to see Peter Gabriel again after many years. His voice and band are all fantastic. Entrance to Rogers Arena was a pain though, with huge and congested lineup and slow processing of people entering and what's with the huge thick cables at center back of floor, on each side of sound/light mixing setup, going from ground to roof, blocking sightlines!? That was super distracting and annoying. FIX THAT.

    Too Much New

by Phillip Collings on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The old singles were great and the crowd loved them, but he lost the room with all the new songs. We weren’t surprised - as we did try to listen to the new album before the concert - but we were surprised at how many new songs. I would bet 3/4 were new songs.

    Not what I expected.

by OlderDude on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

When I go to a concert, it is generally not just for entertainment but also a little bit of escapism as well. Perhaps to relive past glory, or hear the actual artist sing my favorite songs. This is not exactly how things played out at this concert. Peter is definitely a very talented and accomplished musician, no question. But he is also, apparently, an activist. While he was very entertaining in many ways, the activism part of things really got in the way of this being a first rate concert. Don't get me wrong, what he said were things that need to be said. But I would expect to find such things said at a lecture at the Vancouver Public Library or perhaps UBC for free - not at a concert that I paid good money to attend! It was a concert that raised issues and made one think at a moment in time where you were perhaps not there to actually become so engaged in deep thought. And Peter played just barely enough of the "hits"to keep you interested in the show. At one point I was going to suggest to my wife that we leave - which she would have done in a heartbeat because she was bored out of her skull - but I realized that it was late and the show would be over soon. I am glad I stayed because not 3 minutes later he played my all time favorite song of his. I would have kicked myself had I left and missed that. But the mere fact that I was considering bailing on the concert early should tell you more than anything else. When we saw Elton John last fall - the show was absolutely mind blowing! He had us dancing and singing in the aisles, it resonated with us all! Brought back memories, and made us happy to see this icon rocking the whole place! When we saw Peter, who is also an icon,,, well, the show was not particularly up-beat. There were entertaining elements, but overall the show was... boring. As much as I enjoyed hearing a small sampling of my favorite songs from him, given this experience, I don't think I would go to another Peter Gabriel concert. Perhaps my expectations were too high after Elton John?

Would have been better with big screen on. Otherwise great

Peter Gabriel excellent but hard to see... Needed large screen turned on for the cheap seats
