About

Peter Gabriel’s five-decade-long career includes nine studio albums, film scores for the likes of Martin Scorsese, six Grammy Awards and two separate inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a solo artist and founder of ’70s prog-rock pioneers Genesis). As a solo artist, Gabriel has sold an estimated 16 million albums worldwide, with his fifth studio album — 1986’s So — going five-times platinum in the U.S. and producing the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Sledgehammer.” Gabriel’s catalog of hits also includes ballads like “In Your Eyes,” which was featured in an iconic scene from the 1989 teen rom-com, Say Anything. Gabriel has performed in front of countless sold-out crowds on world tours that often include large-scale performances and conceptual set design. In May 2023, Gabriel embarked on i/o – The Tour, his first world tour in seven years, which features songs from his forthcoming 10th studio album, i/o — his first full-length album of new songs in over two decades.

    Great show

by JG on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Great show, good sound, but if you're sitting close to the entrance/exit, there is a bright light that stays on throughout the show

    Love Peter Gabriel's performance

by Sunset on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Love how he shares with the audience and acknowledges his band. I may have only known a few songs he sang but enjoyed the instrumental in the songs.

    Bordering on boring

by Big Toe on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I was really excited to see Peter as I loved his music in the 80's. But, I found the majority of this concert to be just boring. His choice of music was slow-paced and extremely mellow. He played the whole first set in a "campfire circle"and nearly put me to sleep. He ended the set with Sledgehammer which brought the crowd to its feet. I thought he was setting the mood for the second half. But no. The second half was just as boring; he didn't even play Shock the Monkey. I thought he was saving it for the encore, but I guess he figured nobody would want to hear one of his biggest hits. This show might have worked better in a small intimate venue, but when you play a stadium, you need to wow the audience Big Time, not put them to sleep.

Tell people to arrive in time for the show

by Gabriel is master on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Peter Gabriel put on an amzing and complete show! The presenters should have done a better job of comminicating the fact that the show would start promptly at 8:00pm. The first 20 minutes of the show was disrupted by people arriving late and being escorted to their seats. The performance opened with a very intimate scene which was lost because of this. An avoidable and real shame considering the artistry and planning that went into the show.

    Left half way thru...

by Boo-Bored me to... on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Thanx Peter for playing almost ALL of your new album...I am a FAN, but when I am paying hundreds of dollars for tickets...I expect a little more of what we are there for...the songs we have been listening to for almost 50 years....and not the amount of new music we were subjected to. The crowd was NOT into it, all talking and NOT paying attention....until you played a song that they came for...never again...another reason NOT to pay these exorbitant prices to see someone play what we do not want to hear....:-(

    A Bit Slow

by 80's Fan on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Set 1 music is largely from his latest albums. Many of the spectators (40+ years old) likely know much of Peter's popular material from the 80's. With Set 1 being relatively slow, there were a lot of heads nodding off. Set 2 was much better with Peter playing his popular songs. Encore and Finale were brilliant! There was a lot of thanking of crew and additional performers. I thought the visual panels and effects were lacking compared to other concerts that were similarly priced in the same venue. Overall, I'd give the concert a C+

    Incredible show!

by Jeff on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Been waiting 2 years to see Gabriel and this concerns over delivered in every way! Amazing show, great setup, played a perfect mix of new music and great hits!

Visually beautiful, great band, lots of new music

by Ben on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Powerful show. Seats in the Roger’s Centre had a great view but were miserably uncomfortable (thank goodness for the intermission). The venue was also hot for an October day. Apity that this spectacular show was compromised by acute discomfort.

    Great Show, Wrong Venue

by Vancouver Jon on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Dear Peter, You’re 73 years old and you have a massive fan base of people who will fill an arena based on your hits from the 80s and 90s. We are interested in hearing SOME of your new work, but not 13 out of 22 songs worth of them. This crowd came to hear the classics. Like it or not, Peter, you pulled a bait and switch and it wasn’t cool. You tried to make an arena show intimate. The campfire with the large moon was beautiful. In fact, the artistry of the show was amazingly beautiful. But… An arena is for crowds going batshit crazy. It’s to hear the hits and all the other songs that get us up and moving our asses. When you played a majority of unfamiliar pieces we were sitting and listening and appreciating your talent. But… It simply didn’t work in that venue. It left me disappointed. The show had an edge of boring. Not because the music was bad. It had everything to do with the venue. You should never have brought THIS show to an arena. It should have been at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. A venue that would have matched your desire for creating an intimate experience. A place that would have matched the sound quality I know you would have preferred. A place that would have allowed me to appreciate what you were trying to do and to also appreciate the new music you were trying to get us to get to know in the same way it appeals to you. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this show to any Peter Gabriel fan, because I know they were going to the big arena to hear ALL the big songs. I’ve been one of your biggest fans for much of my 52 years. I say all this with love.

    Maybe the best ever

by Michael_in_White Rock on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I’ve been dying to see PG as I’m a lifelong fan of his music and loved the Secret Garden Tour video. I have to say this was a better experience by far and I’m amazed at how good his voice still is. The sound was amazing in the arena as well. I’d give this review a hundred stars if I could. There was nothing I’d change. He played for a solid 3 hours.

    Unbelievable

by Haida Guy on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Peter Gabriel, along with his usual collaborators, and the new additions to the band were phenomenal!! The new material was so great! The whole show was flawless and I can only hope I don’t have to wait 20 years to see him again.

    Tickets and Venue

by Rod on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Everything works for me at the venue. Access, location and the show. Tickets: I believe the option to print the ticket (emergency only) is still valid as not always the cell phone is available.

    Missed the Oldies

by Steve of the North on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Peter Gabriel put on a wonderful show in Vancouver on October 7th/23. He had a brilliant ensemble which included Tony Levine the greatest base player on the planet ( apologies to Geddy Lee). My only reservation was that roughly 2/3 of the Playlist was new material. While great musicianship, it's my conviction that most of the audience came to hear his classic tunes, dating back to original Genesis. Peter is a very socially conscious guy, promoting local artists and conceiving plans to save the planet. While all awesome this end would carry far greater weight if he stuck to the rich Playlist that was already in existence. A better plan would be 1/3 new songs and 2/3 oldies. My rating 9/10 on presentation but in song selection Peter missed the mark. Steve of the North

    Amazing experience

by OG on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Peter Gabriel puts on a great show. Voice still in great form. Played most of new album and early cuts and less big hits. But you'll still hear some of your favorites. Band is phenomenal, same core for decades. I would love to see the show again.

    Peter Gabriel in Vancouver

by Mixter on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Peter Gabriel put on an amazing 3 hour performance. His voice is still the same if not better. He tells a great story and has some interesting insights. I’m glad I had a chance to see him live.

    An Excellent Performance!

by DYR on 2023-10-10Rogers Arena - Vancouver

It's hard to believe it has been 40 Years since I first saw PG, when he came through town with David Bowie's Serious Moonlight Tour. Time flies! Saturday Night's Show, at Rogers Arena, didn't disappoint! From Start to Finish, the Evening was fantastic! The entire band was as electric as PG's voice! Known as a Musician who never rests on his laurels, the choice of music was mostly comprised of his New sonic collections, that are currently being released each new full moon! If you haven't heard these songs, go to Spotify and give them a listen! They do not disappoint, if you're a long term PG Fan! There wasn't a lot of old material being played. However, Washing of the Water, Digging in the Dirt, Don't Give Up, In Your Eyes, Big Time, Sledgehammer, Solsbury Hill and Biko all made it in there! Tony Levin. David Rhodes, and Manu Katche were there, along with a Group of Superb Multi Instrumentalists and Singers to back up Mr. Gabriel. If you don't have Tickets to any of the remaining shows, and you're on the fence...don't hesitate! Go get them! The music sounds good and it is accompanied with lovely visuals from a collection of Artists! I would say it is one of the Best Shows I have ever been too, right up there with Elton John and Pink Floyd.
