Mrs. Brown, You Sound a Whole Lot Better!
by Herman Fan on 2020-02-29The Avalon Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara FallsRating: 5 out of 5He did ALL his hits, and some other British Invasion groups' songs too. He danced across the stage, while shielding the side of his head to the audience with an album jacket, and singing. That takes coordination. The youthful voice has not changed. Happy melodies, well enunciated; a fun show. Just like the records we all still have at home. March is the 55th anniversary of the release on Toronto radio of Mrs. Brown. But he's been at it even longer than that. I was thrilled to see his enthusiasm and energy and his engagement with the audience. A swell band: two guitars, drums, bass/synth. And all of them sang in various numbers. This really is part of the music of my life, and I appreciate longevity in pop music, an act so well-preserved for such a long time. Apparently, Fallsview Niagara is a concert site he has often performed at; I met several fans for whom this is an annual pilgrimage and they
attend all three shows. I got an autograph, photo and a minute or two to chat. An extended version of
Henry VIII led to us all doing it by ourselves, sans band. Peter combines a bubbly personality with lyrical expertise and showmanship. I'm glad I had a chance to finally meet him. And the last song .......,
not Henry, but 'Kind of a Hush'. Highly recommended!
