Definitely worth it
by jykng on 2024-10-18Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5Lorna Shore really set the bar high with their performance at the Commodore Ballroom, and Whitechapel was also equally impressive. Sanguisugabogg did a good death metal set and Kublai Khan TX had a pretty good metalcore set as the two openers, but it was Whitechapel that definitely established the tone for the night. Whitechapel's set this time featured songs from across a bunch of their albums, including their new song A Visceral Retch. Phil Bozeman and the rest of Whitechapel delivered a really brutal performance and it could have been a complete night if it just ended with them. But Lorna Shore came after, and with them it went even further. Will Ramos proved without a doubt that he's one of the best deathcore vocalists with his sheer intensity he brought to the stage. Lorna Shore did not disappoint. With all of Lorna Shore's songs there's the symphonic flourishes which brought a moody atmosphere to the mix to go with all of the breakdowns. They played all of Pain Remains for their set with To The Hellfire thrown in, and it was certainly a great thing to see all of it played live.
