About

Born somewhere in the Arizona desert, Puscifer is an electro-rock band, multimedia experience, traveling circus, and alien abduction survivors. The group's catalog consists of four full-length studio albums: "V" is for Vagina [2007], Conditions of My Parole [2011], Money Shot [2015], and Existential Reckoning (2020) - in addition to a series of EPs and remixes. Beyond the core trio of Maynard James Keenan [vocals], Mat Mitchell [guitar, production], and Carina Round [vocals, songwriting], the group's ever-evolving ecosystem encompasses Greg Edwards (bass, guitar, keys), Gunnar Olsen (drums), as well as a cast of characters such as Billy D and his wife Hildy Berger, Major Douche, Special Agent Dick Merkin, and many more. Meanwhile, the moniker's origins can be traced to a 1995 episode of the HBO classic Mr. Show where Keenan first used the name "Puscifer." In addition to tallying tens of millions of streams and views, they've piqued the curiosity of the press. Entertainment Weekly christened them, "Exceptionally groovy," and Revolver fittingly described them as "indescribable." Renowned for an immersive live show, the group's performances blur the lines between concert and theater, traversing the dusty American Southwest with Billy D and Hildy or the sweaty squared circle with Luchadores. They've brought their unique live experience to life  everywhere from Coachella to Bonnaroo. On their 2020 debut for Alchemy Recordings/Puscifer Entertainment/BMG entitled Existential Reckoning, Puscifer track Billy D back to the desert and, just maybe, uncover the truth about aliens once and for all.

    Difficult to Describe

by SpongeBad on 2012-03-14Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Seeing Puscifer live is an experience that's difficult to describe without spoiling it. It's certainly not for everyone, but if you're into their music and like comedy and performance art, I'm hard pressed to see how you could have a bad time at a show like this one. It really was one of the most unique concert experiences I've ever had in my life (in a good way!), and considering the number of concerts I've been to, that's saying something.

    Awesome!

You never can go wrong with a gig that has Maynard as part of the bill. Carina Round was amazing, her voice is just fantastic. The entire show was very entertaining and the music was just great. Loved the show, would do it over again in a heart beat!

    True Musical Art and Expression

by crazyhorse on 2012-03-13Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I am a fan of a few of the more popular Puscifer songs, but have never fully appreciated the full range of tunes until seeing them perform live. Wow! I can't say enough about the talent of the music and the effort and artistry displayed in their live show. My Wife, was an admittedly not a Puscifer fan before the show, but definitely is a fan now. The venue - Calgary Jubilee Auditorium really allowed them to shine.

    Sensory Overload

by OldGuyCalgary on 2012-03-13Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

An amazing evening of sights and sounds. I had read previous reviews that it was not a concert, it was an experience, and they were absolutely correct. I was glad I was a little further back than I typically prefer to be. You really wanted to see it all. It also shows what can be done with technology and skilled musicians. Not giant speaker wall and guitar techs running out every few minutes to swap guitars. Just a simple stage making use of in-ear monitors, and sound coming through the mains. With musicians that dealt with everything that was happening on stage.

The concert was excellent. It was entertaining and interesting and different than your average rock show. I would go again and I would definitely recommend it to a friend. Carina Round was phenomenal and I think she stole the show.

    Don't go in expecting ANYTHING

by Depina on 2012-03-13Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

It opened with the haunting voice of Carina Round. She was amazing and inspiring and I'm sure that every place she sings at, she gains more and more fans. While they set up between sets, we were VERY entertained with a "Mockumentary". The music was of course amazing and of course Maynard was flawless, with his laid back personality on the stage and his awesome dance moves. I don't want to give away anything that happens in the show, but I will say.. Don't go in expecting Tool or a Perfect Circle, because this is a whole other ballpark. - Also if you stick around about 10 minutes after the show - Carina Round, Jeff Friedl & Matt Mcjunkins will come out and sign t-shirts, albums, ticket stubs whatever you want and they will also take pictures with you! Best concert I've seen so far and I can't wait until they tour again in Canada!

    Great show, HORRIBLE SECURITY!!!

by DupedbyTM on 2012-03-13Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The security was absolutely terrible. There were three males to pat-down the men and only one for the women who had to go through every single handbag. I had to wait 10 minutes before my wife was inside, by that time the opening act had already started. We arrived at the theater 30 minutes before the show. The show itself was fantastic.

    Math: Puscifer + Carina Round > *

by evilalien on 2012-03-13Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

This show was amazing. Unorthodox, as you might expect, but Maynard and company should always play in the Jubilee. The sound was amazing, produce by an amazing band. It is unfair to refer to the fantastic Carina Round as an opening act. In reality, Carina and a few guys from Puscifer warmed us up. Carina Round is too little know for the awesome talent that she is, and it was impressive to see hold her own right beside Maynard for the entire show. She, along with McJunkins and Friedl, were the hardest working people on stage all night... they only got to leave the stage during between the "opener" and main show. That said, Maynard did pull a trailer on stage with Carina inside it, so he wasn't slacking off ;) Typically amazing show from an amazing collection of *real* musicians (not the pop star crap-spewing samplers in Top 40), at a venue with amazing acoustics.

    Puscifer - WOW!

by ScreamingMimi on 2012-03-13Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I'd come across a Puscifer song on YouTube about a year ago and know someone who travelled to Vegas specifically to see their first show in 2009. When tickets went on sale for the Edmonton show, I thought I'd better check out Maynard James Keenan's science experiment first hand. Alternative metal meets morality play. Nothing like I'd seen before. Not sure how it would compare to Tool or Perfect Circle (having never seen either band), but I like MJK's style of performing closer to the back of the stage, backlight by the graphics and landscapes that played throughout. Oh, and then there's Billy D. and Hilldy..obnoxiously funny. It was great that the opening act, Carina Round, accompanied the Puscifer gang for the rest of the show (and the rest of the tour I understand). I would definitely go see them perform again!

Good show, could do with a better arrangement.

by ChickenHat on 2012-03-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The show was extremely well done. There was a bit of story to the performance and Maynard does do his cool little dances. The only problem I saw was they played to many softer songs in a row getting the crowd in very relaxed (most were sitting). When ever a quick or energetic song appeared everyone was up and at least drumming along. A better song arrangement would have helped keep more crowd enthusiasm during the show. There was also some humor presented through there DVD (playing before the show) and Maynard himself. The venue also had very good acoustics and even in the back everything was clearly seen and heard.

    MAYNARD IS A GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by shellz on 2012-03-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The opening act Carina Round has an amazing voice! To be honest i didnt know who she was but i checked her out on youtube before hand and knew that it would be amazing! And she proved me right! The whole experience was unforgettable. The production was something i have never seen before and would definatly go see again in a heart beat. Edmonton was blessed to have had the opertunity to see Puscifer. Maynard is a God in everything he does. He is soo very talented in many ways. He is my favorite preformer of all time. Definatly a must see! The only thing that was a let down was the venue only becouse there was no food and no drinks at the seats (being pregnant i needed to have something to keep me from being dizzy). But the sound was amazing there. Also to the ignorant people that stood up in the upper levels.... think about the people behind you.. its an opera house not made to see over heads again i was a bit dizzy and couldnt stand very long so i missed out on 2 songs becouse of it. If you have the chance see Puscifer it will blow your mind!!!!!!

    Pusicfer is an experience!!

by GTEdmonton on 2012-03-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Very entertaining show. Maynard's and Carina's voices were smooth together. Sometimes wished the drums did not drown out their vocals
