QUEEN has been my favorite band ever since I was 8 or 9 (I'm 41 now), so even though it broke my heart to know that May and Taylor were cheapen it with that Lambert guy in this tour, I couldn't fail to show up and hope for the best while expecting the worst.
Well, the worst did happen a couple of times when Lambert totally destroyed beautiful songs like The Show Must Go On and fun ones like Another One Bites The Dust (Lambert simply has no feeling in his voice, he has technique and potency, but he cannot carry a melody and character in these songs like so many other singers can), but I was also greeted by the BEST: The extraordinary interpretations of Brian May ('39 - with a small crash course in physics, and Love Of My Life with some verses interpreted by Mercury in that huge Q shaped screen - tear jerking moment #1), and Roger Taylor (These Are The Days Of Our Lives - tear jerking moment #2). Guitar and drum solo (by father and son!) also were great!
So, focusing in the positive, on about half of the songs Lambert blessed us by not trying to show off with his R&B yelling, so you could almost forget he was singing them (especially if you were like me, singing along so loud as to mute him), and just being there, in the same building with 2 of the real Fabulous Four (sorry, Beatles), the night was unforgettable.
If they come back with anyone, even Justin Bieber or Lil Wayne on vocals, I will surely be there because now it has been proven that QUEEN is the greatest Band In The History Of The World since not even Lambert was able to destroy this concert.
