Great show. Randy always delivers! Great seats and a reasonable price! Loved the venue
Da best . So funny and spot on re the USA political scene.
Very funny and talented. All his material is already online so there's nothing new in the show but it still is fun to see him live.
Very high-energy, super funny, so creative... kept shaking my head and chuckling, "wish I had thought of that"... and it doesn't hurt that my politics align perfectly with his. Keep it up, Randy! I never ever will tire of your catchy witticisms!
He started 30 minutes late. We were quite close but couldn't hear him. The band was too loud which also prevented us from hearing him. In addition, all that we could "enjoy" was his videos that were playing in the background. I could have stayed home in my pajamas and watched this on YouTube. He also had 3 costume changes where he was off stage for at least 5 minutes if not longer per change. If you take into account the costume changes, he actually only performed for 60 minutes. Very disappointing.
Randy’s show was awesome. We really enjoyed show. Great venue and we had great seats. Did some of his famous spoofs of songs which helped everyone get through 4 years of Mr Trump and his gang.
Randy Rainbow received a warm welcome from the Toronto audience who showered adoration and gratitude for all the entertainment throughout COVID on YOUTUBE. In fact the whole show was a review of Randy's greatest hits, with lots of video clips. Perhaps too many old clips, and not a lot of anything else. It felt like a lazy way to have a "show," make some money without any effort or expense. The acoustics were terrible and we missed the witty comments from the stage and the lyrics to the songs he did sing. Much of the time Randy was off stage as the audience watched YOUTUBE clips; it felt like COVID lockdown deja vue. I would not recommend the show but do go onto the YOUTUBE channel and rerun the last year of Randy Rainbow during the Trump's presidency. It will feel exactly the same and save the parking cost.
Pitifully lame Should of stayed home and watched Netflix! Randy needs to work a lot harder for his audience, showing videos of his monologues and leaving the stage for 10 minutes at a time over and over was as low and he could go. People complained all around us and were as disgusted as we were. Meridian should investigate who they book, acts like this bring this amazing venue down.
My sister and I love a good comedy show and plays. It was our first time to see Randy. He sure didn’t enter with any Verve at all. His band played over his voice and we had a hard time hearing his monologue at times. Had we known over 70% of the show was watching videos on a screen we would never of purchased tickets. His material was old, Donald Trump was the theme over and over. It brought the audience down and reminded us of a horrible time for the U. S.. Randy admitted he missed the rehearsal and repeated many times it was his last show! He really didn’t care about the audience at all and mentioned his new book a lot to fill in time. It would of been nice for him to speak of the city he was in and tell some jokes about Toronto…..make an effort! Shame on Randy River for an overall lame show. The Meridian Centre should not allow him back based on the performance. Not worth the money, the time or the wait in the cold to enter the building! My husband saw an amazing play the same night for the same money we spent. Lesson learned, I hope to save others from wasting their precious time and money on this act. It’s a very poor act at that.
A big fan of Randy’s amazing videos, I was looking forward to a show of equally high caliber. While there were moments when material was fresh, there was a lot of reliance on Trump years. Several times Randy left the stage and we just watched an old video or two. This was his last show of the season and he gave the impression that he was ready for a break.
Was up in the balcony, so missed a few jokes (not many) cuz when he would “whisper” to the front row, the sound sometimes did get past the clapping. Otherwise, a great show!
We weren't able to attend due to unexpected car trouble on our way. I'm sure Randy put on a spectacular show and we hope to see him again in our neck of the woods! Love ya, Randy Rainbow 🌈 ❤
My wife & I were at Randy's show last Saturday night, at the Meridian. He was great, with a tight back-up band, lots of laughs, & a visual display highlighting his best YouTube video bits - accompanied by Randy, the singing showman. He covered his history growing up, & how he came to embrace political satire with his music and video, propelling him into stardom. The crowd skewed older than I expected, but then again, I am one of them. Looking forward to his next tour.
I absolutely loved the show and have no complaints about that but...I bought tickets to the event months ago when there were limits to people attending. By the time the event occurred, protocols had changed and it was fully booked. I didn't feel comfortable with that but had the tickets and so I went. While there I realized, most of the people sitting in better seats than I had got their tickets *after* me. So not only was I uncomfortable being in a venue with so many people, I was resentful because others had an opportunity that I didn't have.
1. he was 20 minutes late starting. During that time, the stage was dark and we had to listen to loud rap music. PAY an opening act or have a DJay! 2. He complained about the lighting and the stage manager. That is to me the performer's responsibility to check first. 3. Barely acknowledged he was in Canada. Nothing nice to say about the country or city 4. Barely acknowledged it was the last stop on the tour. 5. Repeatedly plugged his book and CD. 6, Short show: about one hour and 45 minutes 7. He seemed grumpy and short tempered. 8. He ruined his own show. No more live Randy Rainbow for me.
Great show…Trump and his bunch have given Randy lots to work with and nothing I like better than to laugh at Trump . Wonderful talent
Loved the show & love Randy. I will go see him if he visits TO or Ottawa again. The venue I found a little lacking. I probably wouldn’t sit in the balcony again for any show I found stairs really steep with no hand rails. The seating was cramped and uncomfortable. Seating and access at the national arts centre in ottawa much better
Randy Rainbow is one heck of a showman! The venue was perfectly suited for this show, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Loved our seats, especially the price! So great to see a top entertainer and not have to take out a mortgage for the ticket cost! I was very impressed at how well the venue checked vaccine status for all patrons. Smoothly done ✅
I had the feeling he was tired, it was his last gig of this year. When the props were wheeled out he used less than half of them. I expected a lot more energy from him. The videos were fun and he had a really great four-piece band but I was hoping for more. He could have made at least one reference to Canadian politics, he didn't. Any professional worth their salt leaves it all on the stage and it didn't look that way from me.
