Ray delivered exactly what the crowd wanted. Wonderful concert.
You always hope that our favourite artists will sound as good live as they do on their records. The moment Ray opened his mouth to sing his opener, the crowd audibly reacted to his perfect tone and vocal texture. Every song was perfect. The band was sooo tight. The percussionist is worth every penny they are paid. You could feel Ray's emotion on Trouble and Jolene. So lucky to see and hear him play what were basically his greatest hits.
Ray is one of my favourite artists, and I was super disappointed as I could barely hear him for the whole show. I just wanted to crank up the volume all night. One of the main reasons you go to a live show is to be consumed by the music, not strain to hear it. I'm not sure if it was where we were seated at the venue (far left side) or just the volume of the acoustics. I was so disappointed :(
Seeing him in a small venue was such a great experience. His voice is simply beautiful! First time at Queen Elizabeth theatre and was very impressed.
Ray is an amazing performer! We had a great time! His voice is so soothing. My only suggestion for improvement would be to have more standing room so we could dance and sway, and and not be unintentionally lulled to sleep by his beautiful songs.
It was a beautiful evening. Queen E is the perfect venue to hold a still-intimate concert with a lot of people. Of course the music was amazing.
Ray delivered by playing his top 20. Front stage centre was unfortunately a poor choice. Sound quality was poor and volume was too low, hard to get into the groove. Better to save $$$ and get seats back near the sound board.
Great venue with amazing acoustics !! My seat on floor 9th row definitely helped with overall experience. I wish all seat were like these. Sarah beth Tomlinson was the warm up , her voice is absolutely beautiful. Too bad she had to ask the crowd behind the curtains to be quiet a few times. There should be a quiet policy when performing. Ray LaMontagne is a soft spoken man with a strong & unique textured voice ... absolutely loved the concert. His songs are deep and emotionally triggering ... but worth every tear...
Unbelievable sound. From Ray to his bass and percussionist. Only issue I had is the seat room in the first balcony. I'm 6' and my knees were so hard pressed into the seats in front. It didn't ruin my experience seeing Ray Lamontagne in Winnipeg tough! Can't wait to see him again!
Ray Lamontagne's talking voice alone is an unbelievable treat for the ears. His singing and music is next level! Sultry, smoky, breathy...it's everything! He's down to earth and charming and the Burt is an excellent venue/theatre with an intimate-like feel that perfectly showcases a voice such as his. I have no doubt he can rock big arenas but I'm selfish and happy I didn't have to share him with thousands of fans! I hope he comes back cause I will spend whatever it takes to get front row centre!
This was a great show. I was sitting at the very top of the theatre so when he was talking I couldn’t really hear him. The venue also kept the lights on above us. I understand it was for people to see as they come up the stairs. However it is very distracting when they are directly above you.
Ray is just flawless. Every note, every strum of the guitar is perfect. However, the venue, from my perspective, was not appropriate. The music was not very loud and many individuals were wanting to (and did) chat throughout the entire show... which ruined it for some of us. It was bad enough that the opening act commented on it several times. I feel like the crowd and venue was too big for this type of show. There isn't an easy solution to this. They aren't going to go back to playing bars and clubs. The desire for an intimate concert, without it being intimate, did not work for me at all.
Ray Lamontagne was everything we hoped for. His voice was perfect. The music was superb. He seems a very humble and thoughtful person and gave us an authentic performance. Loved it. We can’t wait for his return. The behaviour of my fellow Winnipegers during the opening act was embarrassing. They deserved the comments from the performer and hopefully take that to heart. LOVE the Walker Theatre (that’s what it will always be to me). Great night.
Amazing show if it were not for our obstructed view from the bands lighting equipment-note don't bother getting tix in section 301 At Massey Hall, $80 a ticket for obstructed view that wasn't advertised. Ray didn't disappoint however, his voice is incredible!
Amazingly talented artists. Beautiful venue. Crystal clear sound. On point. It didn’t seem real
Love Massey Hall!! Althought some seemed to enjoy it, I was very disappointed in the opening act. Ray Lamontange was lovely and I very much enjoy listening to his music, first time seeing him in person, but not something I'd pay to see again. Would rather watch his videos online. It was a lovely evening to be out in downtown Toronto.
Ray’s voice coupled with the outstanding acoustics at Massey Hall was probably the most beautiful sounds I’ve ever head at this venue. It was outstanding.
I have loved Ray for many years. To see him perform was a dream come true. I hope I get the opportunity to see him again!
I could watch Ray strum his guitar all night. His voice is just magical and calming for my soul. His play list for this tour hit every spot…he never disappoints… if you can get out to see him
Massey Hall was the perfect choice of venue, because Ray sounded absolutely impeccable. Though not aided by any backing tracks, rvery song sounded exactly like the album version. As somebody who goes to *many* concerts (this was my 25th of the year so far) I can without a doubt say this was the best sounding show of the year.
