    Lighting issues

by Sona on 2023-02-13Meridian Hall - Toronto

Lighting wasn’t good, when these big spotlights started moving from down to the ceiling it killed everyone’s eyes! I had to close my eyes each time they moved! So annoying! Richard Clayderam and the crew were amazing as always! Thank you

    Richard Clayderman

by Joseph on 2023-02-13Meridian Hall - Toronto

The concert is great but the couple sitting next to me wasn’t. I have no idea why a pair of binoculars would take two long hours to coach. The gentleman was so eagle to show off his binoculars that he wouldn’t shut up about it. I guess it’s still okay because he didn’t try talking to me once.

    Clayderman Concert

by JB on 2023-02-13Meridian Hall - Toronto

The concert was great for piano playing on Clayderman's part. The venue gets an F for stage set up and preparedness. Clayderman played 3 songs that you could hardly hear including the fan favourite (Ballade for Adeline). There was something wrong with his monitor he said and had to wait on a stage hand to help out. He was trying to exchange his with one of the violinists. This was very distracting and annoying. He did not replay these songs so we missed out. The ushers were seating people in the middle of songs (unprofessional and rude). This also happened during Ballade for Adeline. Wait til the song ends for God's sakes! and stop with your flashlights disturbing us. Then they didn't have his bell he always rings on the piano. At times, the orchestra took precedence of Clayderman and I wondered if I was even at his show! Mostly everyone had their damn phones out distracting me taking pics and videos some with a flash on. My mom got the Titanic score sheet so that was excellent. The staff I found were a bit rude at the end. I was shouted at to take my coat off the stage after I had just set it down 2 minutes prior. Some short old lady... she said for the third time and I replied, this is the first time I was told! Another security guy was shouting at us to sit down as well as the short lady.... The downstairs washrooms had 3 (I tried) cubicles with broken locks. Please step up your game!!!

Richard was great, the setup not so much

by Tim on 2023-02-13Meridian Hall - Toronto

Richard was great and delivered what the fans expected and more. However, the sound mix for the night was horrible. You could hardly hear the piano

Richard Clayderman Feb 10 2023, Toronto

    by Karyn on 2023-02-11

The performance is stunning, outstanding, brilliant. Love his interactions with the audience even though it's not a lot. He is actually quite funny. However, there is no crowd control. They should have closed the doors to the hall as soon as the performance started (just like other theare shows). Then allowed people to come in when the first few songs are done playing and in between. I was sitting in the balcony area behind the main aisle, people kept walking in and side to side and blocked my view for at least 5 to 6 minutes. The family sitting behind me - the boy (maybe 8 to 9 yrs old) kept kicking the back of the chairs to the point that we had to turn around and told him to stop. Then the mom and the teenage girl kept talking a lot during the performaces. Most people may talk when one performance is finished and when people are clapping, just a phrase or two but these two talked and talked especially the second part. Again, at one point, I turned around and gave them a stern look. They are very inconsiderate and have no concert manners at all. The company needs to look into more rules and perhaps announce LOUD and CLEAR right before the show to tell people not to talk and make any noise, no walking, no going to the washroom during the performances.

    Nice performer, terrible audience

by MusicFan on 2019-10-01Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I had a really difficult time with the way the audience interacted with the performance. Mobile phones were up the entire time either filming or taking photos non-stop of Richard playing the piano. I found the crowd quite disruptive throughout the entire show, not to mention rude at the end when they suddenly got up to leave when the performer was still going to play another song. More so, people were being allowed to keep walking around, entering and leaving the theatre throughout the entire duration of the show. For the ushers who work in all settings - you should know that in other countries, usually what happens when a show starts people cannot enter until the performer has a 'break' until the next song/act starts. To have people walking about to find their seats, speak while doing so, and just act disrespectfully made my entire experience there a not-so-enjoyable one. Please people, learn some manners before you bring yourselves to a show. To the show organizers: next time do not cheapen out on handing out only 1 program per 4 people. We were 2 couples and we each wanted a flyer especially for paying 100$/ticket. I also do not need to read in any other language than English since Canada is an English & French-speaking country. I wish I would have heard Richard play the piano without a background-recorded music and rather with an actual full orchestra that would accompany him as his talent is beautiful. I really enjoyed his charisma and interaction with the audience.

    clayderman concert

by Jane on 2019-10-01Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

The sound system is very bad at the theatre, especially at the beginning of the concert, the sound track was way louder than the piano. I can barely heard him. I was at the front row seats. Felt bad for those sitting upstairs or at the back. The temper didn’t match either. The second half is better. At least I can finally hear him play.

    Memorable evening

by Mochacino on 2019-09-30Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Richard Claydermann is one of my favourite pianists and I was so happy to be able to see him live. Though I was surprised to see that many Chinese people and Chinese bands/musicians. I had not realized that the sponsors were all Chinese! It felt like a foreign country! Many ill mannered children were eating and making all sorts of rustle noises during the show and parents were not doing anything. For this type of event in this level of classy venue, I recommend to place age restrictions (I..e attendees must be 12 or older, and no eating and drinking during the show). My friend and I talked to the loudly attending children to be quiet during the show but it did not help and we both felt distressed about it. It is our right to enjoy the show as well.

    Great Performance

by C. on 2019-09-30Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Very talented pianist. A lot of guests came in late used phones or talked during the performance and the normal Queen Elizabeth Theatre rules did not seem to apply. It was very enjoyable however and I am so glad to have seen him perform.

Too many cell phone recorders, audio unclear.

by Monkeast on 2017-10-09Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

Came to this performance. Richard was himself great but I found 2 very poor incidents. Many people were recording the performance and the cell phone lights became a distraction. Another issue were the pre-recorded audio on poor speakers and over powering Richard's own piano sounds. This muddled everything up.

There is no band and background music is too loud to hear piano sound. Not worth $150.
