About

RICK SPRINGFIELD IN CONCERT:

Rock superstar Rick Springfield has been wooing audiences with his polished voice and leading-man looks ever since his rise to fame in the early '70s. More than four decades later, he looks and sounds as good as ever, treating fans to an unforgettable evening of solo performance and storytelling on his Stripped Down tour. Taking time between each song to relay the touching and humorous stories that inspired them, Springfield has proven that his talents as an entertainer extend well beyond his musical abilities. Whether fans catch him solo or performing with a full band, they can count on plenty of showmanship and charisma as he works his way through nostalgic hits like "Jesse's Girl" and "Don't Talk to Strangers."

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Australian-born Rick Springfield began playing the guitar at age 13, cutting his teeth in several bands in England after his army officer father relocated the family there in 1958. After a stint fronting the British band Zoot in the late '60s, Springfield launched his solo career in 1971 with debut single "Speak to the Sky," a Top 10 hit in his native Australia. After releasing several moderately successful albums in the '70s, Springfield hit his stride in 1981 with Working Class Dog, a massive success propelled by the No. 1 hit "Jesse's Girl." 1982's My Success Hasn't Spoiled Yet fared similarly, landing at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spawning several more hit singles. A veteran showman with four decades of touring under his belt, Springfield returns to the road once again for a string of highly anticipated tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Loved the more intimate setting of just Rick, loved the stories mixed in with the songs."

"Rick sounds great! He tells the stories behind the songs. So fun!"

"Not only was his music incredible, but his stories and humor made the evening a blast for our group of six!"

    Rick Springfield was incredible!!

by lanaje on 2011-03-14Club Regent Casino - Winnipeg

What an excellent show! Have been a fan since I was 12, but never got to see him in concert. When the opportunity presented itself, I jumped at the chance and am so glad I did. His showmanship, voice and energy are exactly as I remember seeing in videos and on TV, and he's still hot to look at! Very entertaining and interactive with the crowd - I would gladly go see him again if he ever came back!

    Rick Springfield did not disappoint

by Muffin1967 on 2011-03-08Club Regent Casino - Winnipeg

I waited 30 years to see Rick in concert and it was worth the wait. It was everything that I had hoped it would be and I only wish I could have been at both shows in Winnipeg. Luckily I made it to the Thursday night show I had tickets for as the flight to Winnipeg I was booked on was cancelled that day. Another flight got me there in time and thankfully I did not miss a minute. He had just the right mix of songs and spent the right amount of time talking to the crowd. It was an amazing evening that I will never forget and hope to experience again someday.

    An Incredible Night With Rick

by JanetinManitoba on 2011-03-05Club Regent Casino - Winnipeg

Whether you are a Rick Springfield fan from the 70's or 80's, his current roles/music or never heard of him, you will become a fan after seeing him perform live. Rick gives an excellent mixture of the old with the new, added in with his personal touches and personality, it's an exciting night for everyone. His love for his fans show whether he is whacking roses during Affair of the Heart, going through the audience on Human Touch or getting everyone to sing along with favorites such as Don't Talk to Strangers, Jessie's Girl or the newer What's Victoria's Secret. If you get the chance definitely check out Rick Springfield, you won't be disappointed.

Not jus a pretty face - musician Rick Springfield

by Lindazee on 2011-03-04Club Regent Casino - Winnipeg

Purchased tickets to "see" Rick and dragged my husband to the Casino. Was not expecting much in the way of a concert but thought it would be a pleasant evening. What a wonderful surprise! This man not only looks terrific but is an excellent musician and performer. He was not condescending to the audience (as some are ) and seemed to really be enjoying himself. The music was good and even the old standards were given a modern touch without losing their essence for the real fans. His voice is still good and strong and much more of a rocker than I anticipated. I thoroughly enjoyed the concert (and so did my spouse). Given I have paid much, much more for concerts given by mediocre entertainers, I am impressed by this singer. I am a Rick Springfield fan now!

He put on an excellent show, walking through the audience and climbing onto tables. Getting the audience to sing lines was fun too. Still a very hot dude considering he is over 60! Great music, songs are still fantastic!!

    Total hunk

by KaLoPo on 2011-03-04Club Regent Casino - Winnipeg

Great-looking rock star and instrumentalist. Played his biggest hits to predominently female audience. Signed copies of his recent book that he has been promoting. Compared our fierce weather to beach parties on Christmas Day in Australia. It's hard to believe he is 81 years old = looks less than 40.. He got close to his audience, climbing off the ramps and onto the tables, then walking the lenths of the tables, then balancing on the partitions between rows of tables. The security people had to be vigilant.

Overall the show was great, he has lots of energy and lots of interaction with the audience. Sounds just as he did 30 years ago. Looks great too! Tickets were too expensive for such a short amount of time. About 1 hour 15 minutes.

    Rick Springfield Rocked!!

by TDawg on 2009-08-01Casino Rama - Orillia

I hadn't seen Rick Springfield in concert since his gig at the CNE in Toronto in 1982 and I have to tell you - it brought me back to the 12 year old girl again. He can sing and work the crowd into a frenzy just like he did so many years ago at the height of his teen idol status. The small venue made it feel like he was singing "jessie's girl" right to me - of course it probably helped that I was right up stage level LOL. All in all - it was the most fun I've had in a long time.

    Rick still Rocks

by kmanjetsfan on 2009-07-30Casino Rama - Orillia

Mr Jessie's Girl himself has a more than impressive catalogue of hit songs, and threw in "Jet" & "Crossroads" just for fun. This guy still rocks, can really play to a crowd and looks better at 60 than I ever did at 20. The prices were a steal at 25 bucks, but the venue lacks the rock & roll appeal, with many of the crowd older unappreciative tourists who were there for the casino only. It is my hope that Rick returns soon, but plays an arena or non casino venue so that his real fans can appreciate the truly rock and roll event.

    Rick Springfield was amazing!!!

by Jessye on 2009-07-29Casino Rama - Orillia

The show was high energy, and made it seem unbelieveable that Rick would be turning 60 this year (which he readily admitted during his show). If I hadn't been a fan for over 20 years, I would have sworn he was 20 years younger. He has a sixpack! Rick was high octane - running from one end of the stage to another, and even jumped into the crowd. Lusting aside, his voice is still awesome, and he sang many of his greatest hits (Jessye's Girl, Love Is Alright Tonight, Human Touch, I've Done Everything For You) and introduced some of his new music from his latest album 'Venus In Overdrive' . Every song sounded great. Rick had great interaction with the crowd, and jumped into and walked among the crowd in the floor, asking a few questions of some of the audience. It was an incredibly fun concert and I would definitely see Rick in concert again!

    Rick Rocked Rama

    by Rick4ever on 2009-07-28Casino Rama - Orillia

From the amazing drum solo (by the one and only Rodger Carter) to the 2 song encore, Rick's show is one NOT to be missed. He puts on an actioned packed (yes, action packed) performance. The show opened with "Mr. PC" form his CD Venus in Overdrive and he rocked the rest of the show with many of his long ago hits and sprinkled in some of his new hits. A great cover of "Jet" (dare a say better than Sir Paul) and Crossroads. The crowd got a treat when he ventured out during "Don't Talk to Strangers" preying on unsuspecting fans that had to sing the infamous words. Beware! Anyone sitting is sure to get targeted. We were treated to a couple of songs with a shirtless performance. Turning 60 soon and still HOT!! During "Human Touch" he indeed needed some and climbed over the crowd standing on the backs of chairs, and while performing a great balancing act, allowed the crowd to "touch" him. He ran all the way to the top involving the whole crowd. Back on stage he sang his most famous "Jessie's Girl" which always makes me sad because you know the show is coming to and end. A 2 song encore with extreme energy and the night will forever live in the hearts and minds of all who were present. NEVER miss an opportunity to see this rocking guitar playing man.
