    Enjoyable but misleading title

by JPinewood29 on 2013-02-28Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

I bought these tickets specifically to see Rik Emmett. However, this was actually a WSO Pops show with Rik Emmett. So while the show was enjoyable, I feel the advertising of Rik Emmett was somewhat disingenuous as he only played 5 songs in total. FIVE SONGS out of about 16. I would have liked to know that he would not be the focal point of the show. So while the event was quite good and enjoyable, most of the time, I was waiting for Rik Emmett to come back out to play.

Absolutely amazing - Rik Emmett was the best.. excellent all around - songs were a good selection from various artists and performers were very versatile. Commentary kept us engaged with the show - wasn't a detraction at all. Symphony in costume was a nice touch too - really felt like I was back in the 70's...

    Winnipeg Symphony Plays Woodstock

by BigDuke on 2013-02-25Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

Orchestra as usual was brilliant when they had a piece to play. Female singers were very average I thought, especially Ms Kiss. Fellow who sang Joe Cocker songs was outstanding and Rick Emmett isa guitar god. Piano player/host was very good in describing the events at Woodstock. I'd still like to see the orchestra have more input. I've mentioned before, I'd like to hear a rock tribute to bands like Chicago, ELO, Blood Sweat and Tears and Lighthouse who all used a huge amount of brass and strings, which would allow us to hear more of the actual symphony, and less of the drums and guitar of Jeans and Classics.

Woodstock with Rik Emmett was great.

Really good music, and the sound was very close to the original. Took my 20 year olds and they really enjoyed it as well. Would have been nice if there were more songs with Rik playing. A very good show.

    Woodstock

by jenniferjuniper on 2013-02-24Centennial Concert Hall - Winnipeg

What a super concert! All the performers were excellent and Rik Emmett was fantastic. Definitely took me back to the sixties. And, of course, the Symphony were at their usual amazing standard.

The show was amazing from start to finish. Rik Emmett was superb as always, but the big surprise for me was Dave Dunlop......What an amazing talent. He really complimented Rik, but was a force to be reckoned with on his own. Really enjoyed it!

    Rik Emmett was outstanding!

by MyMusic on 2012-12-10Molson Canadian Studio at Hamilton Place - Hamilton

My family went to see Rik Emmett with Dave Dunlop on Saturday night at Hamilton Place Studios. I had never been to this venue before and was pleasently surprised by how intimate it was. The set was a mix of accoustic Triumph songs, and solo pieces which were all played with great guitaring. It was fun to see Rik and Dave spar with oneanother, it is obvious that they have a great deal of respect for each other. Rik commented several times about his being old, but his vocals were still great and his music still relevant.

    Rik is still TRIUMPH-ant

by piratesone on 2012-08-27Sound Academy - Toronto

What a treat to see Rik and his band do an all old Triumph tunes set. Killer guitar by Rik and Dunlop. Some serious face melting. If you get a chance to catch the rik emmet band ..do it. His voice is still one of the best.

    RIK EMMETT WORTH EVERY PENNY

by Anonymous on 2012-08-25Sound Academy - Toronto

In this pathetic day and age of auto tune. Digital sampling and no talent here today gone later today musicians, it was great to see a real pro not only sing and play live but hit all the notes. The show was great, he and the band rocked and if you get a chance to see Rik Emmett and his tight right on the money band do so!
