Excellent concert once the sound levels of instruments was balanced. Initially the band overpowered Rita (it was Rita we paid to hear), but after 3 or 4 numbers things came together nicely, with the exception of the guitar which, again, seemed too dominant. Loved the enthusiasm and power of Rita's voice as well as Men of the Deeps. Wonderful sound. I'd go again!!
1500 fans had a very enjoyable evening listening to some old favourites, many of which Rita had written herself. Accompanying band was very good but they and Rita were overmiked which lessened the enjoyment of some of the quieter moments. However, on the up tempo numbers they, and Rita, really rocked! Men of the Deep were in fine voice and their authentic singing of miner songs brought the house down.
I am from Nova Scotia and when she was singing I was crying. Her music expresses so many of our emotions and our pasts and how things use to be. The Men of the Deeps were fantastic as well. They have a style of their own. I would recomend this to any age group. It sure put me in the Christmas mood.
