Great bands, great time! Toque and Lighthouse were superb!
We have attended this event for 3 years and every year we have walked away feeling a bit more disappointed. Loved Harlequin, Trooper never fails to give an amazing show, Prism and Toque. My group was again disappointed with Nazareth and we weren’t sure what was going on with Aldo Nova. This is an amazing event and we would love to see it continue, maybe amping up the bands? The food choice was better and having bathrooms on both sides was so nice. We were VIP tickets, this was a great option and we would definitely do this again.
Bring back the butter chicken! More ladies t-shirts please. 😀 Preselling drink and food tickets while people are in line is a good idea!
First off the festival is fantastic. The artists were excellent and the venue is so wonderful with the castle(Bess) in the background. The bonus is the Sunday with the largest car show in western Canada right downtown, 14 city blocks.
Music was awesome. Food choices and quality very poor. I realize it is at the Bessborough so they should make some cash. But food was cold and poor quality. If I can’t bring food in then there should be more choices. Too bad doesn’t allow some food trucks. One year there was a coffee truck which was lovely! 15$ for an undercooked cold burger with plain tortilla chips as a side, my sister order the chicken tacos which were full of fluid(not sure why).
It was another great event! I have gone every year, and once again, we had an awesome time. Really enjoyed Toque!! Honestly, probably my favorite band there this year! Their sound was so good. My only complaint would be - please bring back the lemonade, and allow additional food booths to come in. Also - a "snack"tent would be a great idea. There used to be a popcorn booth too. It's a long day when sitting in lineup and then at the show all day/evening, and people aren't allowed to bring outside food in. It's not so bad for us because we get a room, but I'm not the only one thinking along these lines. We talked to lots of other people who feel the same. Anyway, it's nice that you are asking for feedback. I'm sure I will continue to attend this festival, and hopefully you will entertain these ideas. It would make for some extra happy rockers, haha. Thank YOU all for the hard work and time that goes into making an event like this happen. It is truly appreciated. See you next year!!
I only went to Saturday and Sunday. I didn't go Friday because I'm not paying $90 to see Trooper and Nazareth with not one original member in either band. Everyone I talked to said Nazareth was terrible. On Saturday I enjoyed Harlequin and Foghat. Foghat were mostly replacement members but they were very good. On Sunday Touque and Prism were the best. I wish they would have Prism play later in the day. I feel sorry for the bands that follow them. No one can match Prism's energy. Aldo Nova was good, but very low key compared to Prism. It brought the crowd down.
We attended Fri and Sat. The acts were all good except for Nazareth. People were filing out in droves after a while.Trooper should have been the headliner. They had the crowd rocking and were engaged with the crowd, a real classy act! Do not book Nazareth again
The lineup was great. The beverage/ticket sales were extremely long and so was the entry time.
The show was fantastic! What a great venue, the sound and lighting was awesome! Get there early as it does get packed!
The bands were great - put on a great show ! .....but there needs to be better drink choices - All they ever have is Great Western products- the coolers were flavoured selter water yuck - there are such better choices now a days for coolers and Beer - lots of people were saying they were disappointed with the drink choices for 9 bucks a drink - food choices bad also no fries available, no hotdogs- only a burger or tacos ect for 15 bucks! If your going to charge high prices make the food and beverage choices good please!
Rock the River was amazing , it was our first time there. The line up going in was very fast , selling drink tickets ahead of time was great no long line up’s . The security works were great , they kept the line moving . We had a great seat 4 rows from the front, we had fun people we sat with and the guy ahead of us gives us the history of the bands . We had an amazing time definitely go again . Tickmaster the best way to go scan the ticket and you’re on your way . 🙂
Great weekend. Great music. Fun people. Such a safe place to be. Suggestions. Improve food selection. Not my idea of good outdoor food.
Great venue, great music and an overall good vibe!
The Bessborough gardens is the best place for a classic rock concert. The sound was fantastic and not too loud. The crowd was nothing but smiles for miles. I never tried the on site food concessions so I can’t review them. The liquor tent was a very big disappointment as to only having Great Western products. Believe me when I say this, not cool. A much better selection is required. It limited how much I purchased and I heard many others complaining as well. Do better on that front please. The lineup had something for everyone. Great dining within easy walking distance of the Bessborough as well. We stayed in the grand Hotel and had a marvellous weekend.
We only went Friday Stampeders and Trooper were fabulous
We only attended the first night this year. Some good points and improvements were the selling of tokens while in the lineup. The nachos were amazing, and I was pleased to see they were Gluten Free, there was also a canned drink, a GF cooler available. Negatives: the drinks are overpriced, there could have been more bathrooms, fairly congested area, but availability to wash hands appreciated. I personally was very disappointed in Nazareth, as were quite a number I spoke with. Otherwise, a beautiful evening in this great park!
I am a old time rocker and I understand that band members dye or retire and new one replace them but if a band cannot maintain the sound to do that music justice the should either change their name or call it quits all the bands were pretty good but one and that one was Nazareth allso would like to say the best band there was toque never heard them before but they were fantastic think they will go places
Music was great! Venue was great! Food was good but would have liked a bit more options second and third day! Would have liked more options for booze too! Great Western has a great radler and lime beer, could have added them or even better invite Lucky Bastard Distillery. Dill pickle ceasar would have been awesome! Overall thanks for a great weekend!
We had an awesome time listening to the great music we grew up with. We think it is a wonderful thing that you are doing by having 'Rock the River events.Thank you and we can't wait to see who is going to be here in 2025!
