RYAN MONTBLEAU IN CONCERT:

Whether he's playing an acoustic solo set or busting out tunes with his backing band, folk crooner Ryan Montbleau consistently delivers intimate, heartfelt performances. His stellar live shows were recognized in 2012 when he was nominated for Best Concert Experience at the MTV Music Awards, and his concerts have only gotten more impressive since then. From the relaxed, emotional groove of "The Boat Song" to the upbeat strut of "75 and Sunny", Montbleau masterfully traverses diverse musical and emotional terrain at his concerts, delivering a dynamic and moving experience fans won't soon forget.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Massachusetts-born Ryan Montbleau received his first guitar at age nine, but didn't begin to play and write songs seriously until his college years at Villanova University. After graduating he got a job at the House of Blues in Boston, and before long he was performing regularly at the venue. His first two albums -- 2002's Begin and 2003's Stages -- were solo outings featuring little more than Montbleau and his guitar. As his fanbase grew he recruited additional players for his live performances, eventually forming the Ray Montbleau Band. The group made their recording debut in 2006 with the album One Fine Color, a robust and powerful collection of songs that featured drums, viola, upright bass, and piano in addition to Montbleau's stellar guitar playing. Since then he has continued to release albums both solo and with the band, and he's earned a reputation as a tireless touring act with upwards of 200 performances a year. In 2012 Montbleau released several songs in collaboration with the duo Tall Heights, including a popular cover of Tracy Chapman's hit single "Fast Car" that remains a staple of his live sets on tour.
