What sets Sandra apart from many other comics is her commitment to tell it like it is. She simply tells stories, and remains transparent and genuine in the telling. In so doing, I believe she ranks with the world's best, including Bill Cosby, who simply tells stories.
In addition, she does not generate anything negative in the telling. Comedy, after all, is about laughing at our own foibles and silliness. Many comics like to put others down to make us laugh. Sandra doesn't need to put anyone down, including herself. There is no anger or bitterness in the story.
I come away from her performances with a feeling of self-affirmation, opportunity, and self-respect, laughing all the while. Until I attended this event, it had not occurred to me that many comics tend to stagnate in a particular attitude or level of learning. Everything seems to revolve around the joke. By contrast, Sandra seems to be committed a lifetime of learning and growth, and she seems to understand that laughter sprouts unbidden from every single corner of our lives. She doesn't manufacture it: she just sees it and shares it with us.
To my mind, this is art in its highest form, and a rich experience on both mental and physical levels! (sore belly)
