About

Sarah McLachlan is one of most distinctive female vocalists after breaking out in the ’90s behind singles such as “Building a Mystery” and “I Will Remember You.” With 1994’s Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, McLachlan became a star. The album peaked at number 50 on the Billboard 200 chart and number five on the Canada Top Albums/CDs chart. As of 2023, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy has been certified platinum three times in the United States. McLachlan released her debut album Touch in 1988. Her 1997 effort Surfacing debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and hosted her three highest-charting Hot 100 singles: “Building a Mystery,” at No. 13, “Adia” at No. 3 and “Angel” at No. 4. The album went on to win two Grammy Awards. Surfacing coincided with the first Lilith Fair, the wildly successful all-female touring festival co-founded and hosted by McLachlan that took place from 1997 through 1999. In 2003, Afterglow marked McLachlan’s third consecutive Top 10 album, and she maintained that streak with studio albums released through 2014’s Shine On. McLachlan has won 12 JUNO Awards and in 2017 was inducted into The Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Cheryl Crow and Sarah were the major highlights!

by dtcb on 2010-06-28McMahon Stadium - Calgary

Wow! The up and coming artist stages were amazing - Kate Miller Heidke and Grace Potter rocked it! The main stage was really incredible except I would have deleted Erykah Badu. The event was very poorly organized though. Waited in line over an hour to enter the building and therefore missed Sierra/Ourstage artist, which we were very disappointed about. The lineups continued for food, bathrooms. The main stage vs other stages were poorly communicated. No schedule info on website even the day of the event. We bought 3rd row seats but ended up to the side of the stage so we had to sit sideways...which was a disappointment. Luckily the weather was absolutely perfect and the performances were delightful and flawless!

    Sarah was superb

by charlotteandpetey on 2010-06-28McMahon Stadium - Calgary

Was not impressed AT ALL with the fact that there was a big tent set up blocking the view of the stage. This took over an hour to rectify. Premadonna Erika Badu needs to get that chip off her shoulder and show up ON TIME. Everyone after her was late starting and Sarah's time was cut short. Her ENTIRE band looked like they had just come from a funeral. Not one seemed to have ANY fun and certainly none of them even cracked a single smile. Cheryl Crow and Sugarland were incredible! The energy level of Sugarland really got the crowd going. I was very impressed with them. Sarah sounded awesome.....as usual. I just wish that she had played for longer. Sarah seems to have jumped on the skinny train. She looked like she has lost alot of weight. She looked GREAT!

Wow, amazing music! Loved the small stage acts the most. Pretty confusing layout and hard to find the schedule they apparently handed out but that no one had. Wish the layout was more in one place but the incredible music made up for it.

We were not please with what seemed to be an eternity to see the main acts. Never managed to stay to see Sarah. Eryka Badu, what was that? The selection she played for Lilithfair was more like something that belonged at a night of the living dead festival than for Lillith. We did not enjoy her at all. We have decided in the future to keep our Lilith dollars in our pockets. This event really was not worth our time or the money. Iron Maiden would have been a much more entertaining choice overall.

    Lilith a bomb

by gongs on 2010-06-28McMahon Stadium - Calgary

Biggest gong show we have been to. The fact that you were herded into the arena for 3 hours before the main stage started was c----p wouldn't go again and would not recommend it --- it's no wonder they are cancelling other shows give it up

    Deep lyrics, beautiful voice

by GloriaSunshine on 2010-03-22Molson Canadian Amphitheatre, and others - Toronto, Lindsay

Sarah McLachlan has one of the most beautiful yet haunting voices of our time. She can make your heart melt with a slow teary ballad, then take you out of your body with an amazing rock tune. Her thought provoking lyrics and imaginative style are in a sense what defines her from so many other artists. I saw her eight times in one year, and I can't wait to see and hear her at Lilith Fair at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in July.
