About

German heavy rock icons, SCORPIONS, will be bringing their 50th Anniversary Tour to Melbourne for their first-ever Australian show.

In 1988, the Hanoverian pioneers were the first Western rock band to play five consecutive sold-out shows in then Soviet Leningrad. Returning the following year to play the Moscow Music Peace festival, Scorpions ultimately conquered Russia, inspiring frontman Klaus Meine to write the track that became a theme song to the Iron Curtains final fall: Wind of Change.

Travelling to Australia for the first time in the 50-year history of the band, Scorpions, comprising Klaus Meine (vocals), Rudolf Schenker (guitar), Matthias Jabs (guitar), Mikkey Dee (drums) & Pawel Maciwoda (bass), will play their debut Australian show at Melbournes Palais Theatre on Tuesday October 18.

Tickets for this special event will go on sale at 10am Friday, July 29.

Scorpions official fan club community Rock Zone will have an exclusive ticket pre-sale starting 10am Monday, July 25 until 10am Tuesday, July 26.

Telstra Thanks is bringing an exciting 48-hour pre-sale just for Telstra customers from midday Tuesday, July 26 until midday Thursday, July 28. For more information on how to purchase, visit: telstra.com/music.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: livenation.com.au.

Five decades have passed by since the days the juvenile Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs wandered the streets of Hanover, then just awakening from post war paralysis, with a barrow carrying their instruments and amplifiers. In those 50 years, they have become arguably Germanys most successful rock band, accumulating unit sales of more than 100 million, including certified album sales exceeding 22 million.

1979s Lovedrive was the bands first album to reach the Billboard 200, followed by the Top Ten hits Savage Amusement (1988), Love At First Sting (1984) and Blackout (1982). Top Ten Billboard hard rock albums include Sting In The Tail, Comeblack and MTV Unplugged.

The bands 1991 mega-hit ballad Wind Of Change peaked at #2 on the Billboard chart and hit #1 in seven countries, while the anthemic Rock You Like A Hurricane has been covered more than 150 times by different musicians.

Scorpions had further Top Ten hits, including: #1 No One Like You (1982), I Cant Explain (1989), Rhythm Of Love (1988), Tease Me, Please Me (1990), Send Me An Angel (1991) and Alien Nation (1993).

Few rock bands of this caliber take to the stage as often as Scorpions, embodying a much envied reputation as one of those very rare bands that have transcended time and risen far above the crowd.

At Least the Scorpians werent WASHED OUT

by harleygirl1 on 2010-06-28Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Wow, what a down pour. The rain sucked but the Scorpians were AWESOME. Pretty much the whole crowd was soaked from head to toe, but that did not stop the fans from enjoying and rocking to a great show. They still got it going on...

    Scorpions/Cinderella still going strong

by LizzyTish on 2010-06-28Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

It was a very wet Sunday evening, with torrential downpours, as we huddled near the barrier separating the 400's from the 300's. But the show was amazing. Both the Scorpions and Cinderella played their hits as the crowd energetically sang along. The singers can still hit those high notes. We braved the thunderstorms and were rewarded with a very energetic and enjoyable show!

by GrimJack on 2010-06-28Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Awesome show, can't believe they are retiring after this. The've still got. Everyone on their feet for the whole show. Klaus' voice is still amazing. The Kottak attack on drums for the intermissions was insane.

    Scorpions haven't lost it

by Diva1111 on 2010-06-28Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Despite all the rain that was coming down at the concert. Klaus and the boys put on a great show. Klaus's vocals haven't worn out in anyway. Great blast from the past.

    Scorpions Still Have Their Sting

by Rheanna on 2010-06-28Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I thought the the both Scorpions and Cinderella where amazing. The sound and performance of both bands was excellent. The only down side was the idiot in section 202 row c that kept holding up a flag. He stood about 6'4" and kept blocking our view with his flag even though he was asked several times by security to keep it down. I honestly feel that security should take items away after the first warning. As well as removing those who continue to light up their cigarettes and pot after being asked to put it out. I feel one warning is more than enough since after all we all pay a good price to see our favourtie bands and shouldn't have to be distracted from their performanes by a few selfish people who keep annoying us throughout the whole show. Again though the concert was totally amazing and both bands where excellent.

by robjay2002 on 2010-06-28Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Scorpions rocked last night. I even felt like they were quite personnal and sentimental with the crowd . They looked like they were really into it, lots of energy. Don't let there age fool you, they're in great shape and showed that most of the night. Rock on. rob.s

Scorpions got their Sting out @ the Amphitheatre !

by Murielle on 2010-06-28Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Torrential downpours, thunder and lightning couldn't dampen the Scorpions concert !!! fans had an amazing time -some of us only saw half the Cinderella concert due to flippin long lineups in the downpour ! Molson Amphitheatre needs to start letting people in as their start coming up to let fans get their money's worth - especially when there is lightning and torrential rains !!! Still we had a blast !!! They were great, put on a great show.

Cinderella and The Scorpions sounded perfect!

by kevilz on 2010-06-28Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

I was very surprised at how these two bands sounded so good, just like their albums. Cinderella's lead singer is much more talented than I had imagined. He played the piano, sax, 6 string and 12 string guitar. His vocal talent was also great. The Scorpions amazed me at how they perfected every song without any flaws. Hard to believe these guys are all around 60 years old. The drum solo was spectacular with the movie in the background of the Scorpions past albums. Awesome show, VERY LOUD AND CLEAR!
