Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre

Located in Kanata, a vibrant suburb of Ottawa, Canadian Tire Centre is one of the region's premiere entertainment venues. Since opening in 1996, the arena has served as the home of the Ottawa Senators. Capable of hosting 18,000 fans for hockey games, the arena is also regularly used for concerts and other sports events. In 2007, the arena hosted games three and four of the Stanley Cup Finals. The arena is also known for being the place where Wayne Gretzky played his final NHL game in Canada.

    Lots of fun! Would love to go again. Got a puck and a poster, my son won a contest, got on TV and the Jumbotron a few times. Traffic is bad leaving but expected that.

    The entire staff, from the ticket takers, to vendors in Ottawa do a fantastic job at welcoming the fans and making it a special event. We go early to watch warmups and are welcomed down to the benches for the best view. Thanks very much Senators staff !

    Game night at the Senators is a great time. They team plays hard and never gives up which makes it experience fantastic. Win or lose it is worth the money for the game ticket. Go Sens GO. Let's cheer the team on to a playoff spot this year.

    It was a fun night even if the Sens lost. Great view. It is time though for the seats at CTC to be replaced. They are very worn.

    My husband and I took two of our grandsons to a game against the Jets. Overall the game experience was great. Our problem is the price of the concessions. Two water, one ice tea, one ginger ale and a small popcorn cost $37.95!! This is gouging. It should be affordable for everyone.

    The skills competition was great! Really appreciated seeing the Chargers, and young ones incorporated into the whole event. The amount of memorabilia that was being given away at the end was unbelievable.

    Beaucoup de plaisir, malgré la défaite! ambiance électrisante, gros bravo à Jérémie Trépannier durant les entractes! très solide!! Seul chose que je déplore, ma conjointe n'a pu acheter un rhum double en plus de son breuvage. On avait deux enfants avec nous et ça rend les choses difficiles.
