    Shaping Sound is Simply Brilliant

by FoosGirl on 2018-01-23Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Travis Wall's Shaping Sound is simply put amazing. From the choreography, story telling, music, and of course the dancing (complete with aerial acrobatics)...all of it comes together brilliantly to keep you enthralled for 2 hours. The entire casts skills and performance ability is second to none. Will go back every time they're in town, without fail.

    Original

by 7707B on 2018-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

It's very refreshing to attend a performance that's so unique and memorable. The dancers were all excellent and the choreography had moments of true brilliance. My favourite part of the show was when Travis' character is haunted by the sheets of paper he's using to write his story. The use of lighting to bring the papers to life was phenomenal. I wasn't sold on the ending. I thought the message was quite negative and maybe a message I'd prefer not to see in our effort to encourage people to seek support for mental/emotion health issues. However, not all endings are happy and those stories need to be told as well. I'm pleased I attended and experienced Travis Wall's Emmy award winning talents!

You'll Love It if You're Into Dance

by Atee on 2018-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Wow ... what a wonderfully satisfying show. From the story and themes, to the choreography, to the expressive performances from a talented troupe, to the music - AMAZING. The story characters are a bit hard to follow, so I strongly recommend carefully reading the one page "Story Who's Who" in the program. The more you are into dance, the more you will appreciate and enjoy this excellent and creative show. Those that are kinda luke-warm to dance may not enjoy the show as much.

    Dark story with bad ending

by Rooney1 on 2018-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

First of all, the dancing was amazing. All of the dancers were so skilled and danced brilliantly. I did not know in advance the depressing story that would be told and felt that the ending, with the principal character committing suicide was unfortunate. There were a lot of young dancers in the audience that got the message that suicide was a good way to end things when in despair or going through a difficult time. After the suicide the character was shown happy and back with his partner that had been killed.

This was one of the most amazing shows I’ve ever seen. I went the first night and immediately tried to get tickets for the second night once I got home. I just wanted to experience it all over again! Can’t wait for Shaping Sound to come back!

    Shaping Sound was fabulous

by SuperParent on 2018-01-22Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Travis Wall is so talented. The show was easy to follow and you truly could "feel" what the characters were portraying. The music was dark and met the show but maybe change it up a little as the music did seem to repeat itself a bit.

Best show I've seen in years!

by KDogYYC on 2018-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Shaping Sound After the Curtain was captivating from the first typewriter click to the final bow at the end. I didn't blink for very long periods of time! Travis Wall, Lex Ishimoto, Gabby Diaz and the rest of the Shaping Sound cast were truly phenomenal. A great mix of a classic era and modern dance/theme. I was thoroughly entertained and will be first in line for the next Shaping Sound production.

    Such a mind blowing performance!

by HHalp on 2018-01-22Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Shaping Sound, After the Curtain was by far the best dance performance I have ever seen. The dancing itself was superhuman, but what impressed me the most was how someone (Travis Wall) can come up with such unique and groundbreaking ideas. Props and lighting were beyond...truly blew my socks off!

    Interesting show

by WingmanReady on 2018-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Shaping Sound has the classic storyline - friendship, betrayal, death and reconnecting friends. I enjoyed the presentation, however I found the lighting to be lacking and it was hard at times to follow what was going on.

    Emotionally powerful-Shaping Sound

by Netb on 2018-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The power and emotion...all felt with dance. Every dancer played their part well. I would love to see it again to see the things I missed, there was so much going on. How they use their bodies in movement to convey an emotion is unforgettable. Absolutely loved it.

    I've had enough...

by HDAggus on 2018-01-21Northern Alberta jubilee auditorium - Edmonton

My friend and I were so looking forward to this dance show after having been blown away the previous time we saw Travis' Shaping Sound. Unfortunately, After the Curtain was a real letdown...drab music, a convoluted "plot" ... gimmicky props that detracted from the actual dancing and talent, no routine that made me smile or left me wanting more. In fact, I looked at my watch numerous times thinking, much like the only song I can remember,..."I've had enough!..."
