  • New Christmas Tradition

by littlelr on 2010-12-21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Our family had an unforgettable night at the Glitter and Gold Gala. The event was well organized and the little extras in and outside the theatre made our evening. The family reunion and the Canadian Tenors brought our family to tears (of joy)! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the evening a success. We will make this our family tradition going forward. Merry Christmas!

  • Singing Christmas Tree Lounge Act

As a first-timer, I was expecting tuneful and heartfelt chous presentations of traditional and popular carols. The performance, however, was more suited to Los Vegas - loud and with a long-winded MC. While I appreciate the use of local talent and the star performer from American Idol was entertaining, I was disappointed overall. Visually the show was great, with colourful lighting and the tree as a focal point. Suggestions for next year: -- more of the chorus and fewer soloists -- devote one part of the program to thanking sponsors, the charitable purpose and upcoming events. I got the point the first time. -- lower the volume of the instruments so the singers are the focus. -- invite the audience to join in the sing-along rather than springing it on those who did not refer to their programs. In recommending this to others, I would suggest that less expensive seating is a better value.

Very glad that it has returned to Edmonton. It will not be the last time I go to see the Singing Christmas Tree

  • What a way to celebrate the season.

We went as a family and were not disappointed. The event wowed each one of us. The variety of music covered the traditional carols, Jazz, Country and more. We particularly enjoyed the surprise of 50 santa's singing and dancing on stage and in the balconies. I whispered to my child...which one is the real one not a helper. We thought the tickets were a bit pricey but now that we have seen the quality of the show, enjoyed the Jubilee and the know the proceeds went to Santas Anonymous it was well worth it. It is amazing the number of volunteers it takes to put the show on and how much planning goes into the event. It was a big thrill to see and hear the singing, lights and dancing. We are glad the Singing Christmas Tree is still performing after so many years. It was a very nice touch to see first hand the excitement of the Home for the Holidays contest. Thank you for such a wonderful event.

  • Best singing tree EVER

I have been going to the Singing Christmas tree for a long time. It started as a traditional that my grandmother would take me. Now today, I take my grandmother. We were delighted to have it hosted at the Jubilee. This year, it was abosolutely amazing. It brought song, smiles, tears, joy, fond thoughts and to me Simply beautiful job. I can't wait to bring my 3 year old son next year. I know I'll be home for Christmas

  • Singing Christmas Tree was musical extravaganza.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday 3PM performance of the Singing Christmas Tree. Super talent and a lively, happy show for all ages. Thank you. Will definitely go again.

  • Edmonton Singing Tree

by bunre on 2010-12-21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 2 out of 5

I thought the show was alright but not enough singing from the Christmas tree and I did not care for John Cameron calling the tree his. The ticket price was way too high and I would like to know how much was going towards Santa's Anonymous. The camera that was filming was very annoying it blocked our view of the tree. The two screens were not needed, the seats in the Jubilee are all good so you could save some money by not having those or that annoying camera. To make the show more successful the ticket price has to be lowered or you have to have a family rate, like the nutcracker does. This event used to be a free event at a church. We do not want to go to a Las Vegas Show at Christmas we want to take our family to a traditional event.

It was a last minute decision to go see the Singing Christmas Tree with my husband. It was beyond our expectations. Excellent performers. All round great family entertainment.

The Canadian Tenors were great. I could have done without all the introductions of political people and mayors.

  • Amazing....so touching!

My mom and I went to the Singing ChristmasTree last year and this year we decided to take my daughter, my niece and sister-in-law. It was a fantastic show! Can't wait to make this our new Christmas tradition. Great job to all of the singers and people that put on this great show.

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

by Singersfamily on 2010-12-21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

In the words of my 12 year old son "Mom, I thought I was going to see some cheesy Christmas tree show. But, it was the MOST AMAZING show ever! I LOVED all the lighting and the singers were so loud and awesome! I want to learn to do that lighting and tech stuff!" Well worth the ticket price to plant a dream in my child for a new Christmas tradition in our family! Thank you for the opportunity to perform in the Tree. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as my 12 year old did!

Great way to start out Christmas. Fantastic performers and will be making this part of my yearly Christmas tradition. Well done and all proceeds to a great charity. 41 years and going strong!

Nice to support a worthy cause but not what we hoped for. The sound was too loud and some of the acts were gaudy. The MC came across as a bit odd and full of himself.

  • singing christmas tree amazing!

The whole evening was incredible. Mary Did You Know was breathtaking. We had goose bumps.

  • I'll Be Home For Christmas was real in every way

by MsFantastic on 2010-12-20Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

It was an excellent show--one of the best that I have attended. The singers for My Favorite Things were "drowned out" by the music. The rest was very audible and uplifting.

  • Singing Christmas Tree didn't sing

by Jonsea on 2010-12-20Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 1 out of 5

If you're looking for a Vegas-styled show, you'll love this. If you're looking for a traditional Christmas concert (as my family and I was) you'll hate it. Band was way too loud, featured signers were off-key (except Michael ?). A thoroughly unenjoyable evening. Had it not been a fundraiser, I would have demanded my money back after the first song.
