About

Emerging from Soho's ultra hip Blitz Club in 1979 during another economic depression, Spandau Ballet formed at school in North London before becoming the hottest unsigned band on the planet. From underground, fashion and music obsessed working class Londoners, to global superstars, the band set the pace, the styles and the sound of the 1980s.

Not only did their albums sell by the millions, but their look and style impacted on the fashion world and beyond. They created their own style, combining creativity with entrepreneurship and the 'can do' spirit of early 80s youth at a time of crisis and upheaval eerily reminiscent of 2009.  Spandau Ballet are both commercially and culturally enormous.

    Spandau Ballet Unbelievable

by SpandauFan on 2015-05-06Massey Hall - Toronto

I have waited over 32 years for this moment. It was the most amazing night of my life. I will never forget it. The concert was fantastic and all the hits played. Band was in fine form and well worth the wait. Just hope they come back sooner. The meet and greet was unbelievable and would recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to go for it. The band was so nice and swag you get was great. I would recommend Spandau Ballet to anyone who loves the 80s and wants to see a great band play. It is a night to remember!!!!

They were great!!! The performance did not disappoint nor did the acoustics. I think the best venus in Toronto for music is Massay hall, the acoustics are so much better then the ACC

    Better than ever

by RJuL on 2015-04-30Massey Hall - Toronto

25 years after I saw them In London, UK I just had to see SB live in concert again, something I thought would never happen after things fell apart for the band in the 90's. Time has healed and the boys were on top form and sounded better than ever. Tony Hadley's voice sounded stronger and more solid, John Keeble was supreme on drums, both Martin and Gary Kemp were clearly enjoying playing again and the ever versatile Steve Norman was flawless on every instrument he touched (at least 7!) Once more, we relived old tunes from the 80's which were combined with new material written from 2009 when they reformed. I think Spandau have always sounded even better live and songs like Through the Barricades, Gold, Empty Spaces, Lifeline and True were performed with a renewed passion by a group of British lads who have found friendship again and are reliving the good times, wiser, more mature, more refined but still able to have a good laugh making great music together.

    Spandau Ballet was Fantastic!

by BlueBlueBlueJay on 2015-04-30Massey Hall - Toronto

Trip down memory lane? - sure. But it's all about how it was done. Spandau's lead vocalist - Tony Hadley's voice was just as strong and full as it was 32 years ago when I saw them at Massey Hall. I'd go see them again! Especially at Massey Hall. Spandau's performance 32 years ago at Massey Hall ranks amongst the greatest memories of my life. This concert was a welcomed revisit. I loved it!

After 3 decades, the guys still got it!

by DrNo on 2015-04-30Massey Hall - Toronto

Didn't know what to expect but Spandau Ballet proved once again they're a good live band. The energy was amazing despite a fairly empty house. They played songs from every album as if their entire catalog was performed in one night. They were real pros.

    Surprising show

by stoneycanuk on 2015-04-28Massey Hall - Toronto

Didn't know what to expect, but WOW! The sound was great (as usual at Massey Hall) and the audience were totally into the band with many dancing and singing right from the start of their 2+ hour show. They sounded as good as they were in the 80's with the amazing Tony Hadley on vocals, Martin and Gary Kemp on guitars and the energetic Steve Norman, who played the sax, clarinet, percussion and guitar!
