Even if you're not a show jumping fan, this is a must attend event. There really is something for everyone, from the food to the music to the competition itself. I will definitely attend again and again

Spruce Meadows is a wonderful place

    by Fan73 on 2009-09-14Spruce Meadows - Calgary

I always enjoy days spent at Spruce Meadows watching the competitions, browsing the various buildings, enjoying the entertainment and the variety of foods available. I would like to see more "Order Of Go Sheets" available & more visible throughout the site. I wasted time trying to locate a sheet and finally found the last one at one building.

Spruce Meadows is a amazing place

by Bowhunter on 2009-09-13Spruce Meadows - Calgary

Spruce Meadows amazes me every time I attends it, the horse jumping is a real enjoyment to watch. the ability of the horse and rider working together is a pleasure to see, The organization of the events is second to none, the fireworks display is the best I have ever wittnessed anywhere, and the upkeep of the grounds makes it a real pleasure to go to, everything is so well groomed and flower pots are bueatiful and so fresh looking. You can not forget the cost, There isn't anyplace you can go and enjoy a whole day of entertainment for so little expence. When you leave the parking lot with the hundreds of other velicles it is amazing how little cogestion there is. I make it a yearly event to visit Spruce Meadow and hopfully will be able to for years to come, Also am glad to see Spruce Meadows is presenting other Venues, like the Cattle shows. What a Great Place to go and enjoy them as well.

    Emotionally Charged Masters!!

by SweetPeaMandi on 2009-09-13Spruce Meadows - Calgary

The Masters at Spruce Meadows was brilliant. The talent of the riders and the athleticism of the horses was evident. It was really something to see the great Canadian riders, the ones who are legendary, jump live! I loved how the crowd honored each great rider with applause, no matter what team was competing. A highlight for me was seeing the great Judgement up close in his stall, and then again as he trotted from the stable! What a beautiful animal! And when Spruce Meadows had Beezie Madden rode Judgement out for his retirement ceremony, I felt my heart swell in my chest, to see such an outstanding horse so respected and loved. I enjoyed eating in Mexico.. they served great strawberry margaritas and burritos. The market was enjoyable and I walked away with a few goodies. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back next year!

    North American - Spruce Meadows

by Drifterbill on 2009-07-24Spruce Meadows - Calgary

My daughter wanted to attend a Spruce Meadow event as a graduation gift so we went. The facility is top notch all the way with world class riders in attendance. Everything was quite accessible, so if you like to meet your favorite rider, that can be done. They even allow you to walk the course with the riders prior to the event. If want to see Devils Dyke up close or walk up the the huge hill that riders have to navigate you can do that as well. You can pay for grandstand seating or just sit on the hill in front of the stands at no extra cost to watch the main events. We went on two different days and enjoyed it both times. Be ready for a long day if you want to see all the riders and the different rings that are operating. I would say there are some things to keep the kids busy, but to be honest it isn't really an event that's for the active toddler.

Spruce Meadows, worth the airfare to Calgary!!!!

by HorseMom on 2009-07-16Spruce Meadows - Calgary

Spruce Meadows is a must for horse enthusiasts, but really anyone involved in the horse world, especially jumping knows that even if they are only involved at the schooling level. What you might not realize is that Sprice Meadows is a must even if you just like horses! The atmosphere, organization and incredibly friendly staff will make your day or weekend abslolutely fantastic. While I wouldn't recommend it for really young children, they do go out of their way to cater not only to the horse nut but also provide lots of additional entertainment, including lots or great music!!! This is truly a GReat Canadian tourism attraction that all Canadians should visit at least once in their life.

    Spruce Meadows National

by HorseLover on 2009-07-16Spruce Meadows - Calgary

Great action, lots of new riders on the field. Seats in the South grandstand are no different then rush seating (benches with no backing) and can be uncomfortable after awhile. The stands were pretty full though so it was good to have a reserved spot.

    Wonderful day out!

by SilverStirrup on 2009-07-15Spruce Meadows - Calgary

I had great seats for a wonderful day out! It was show jumping at its best. The equestrians were world-class and so were their horses. As well, there was lots of other entertainment with many top bands and military parades. Spruce Meadows also offers great food and other entertainment on the grounds. The large crowd was very enthusiastic.
