SVMF may be the best new music fest in N America

by Anonymous on 2014-08-13Loggers Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields - Squamish

I have been to 5+ Coachellas, 5+ SXSW, couple Bumbershoots, few Rock the Bells, original Pemberton fest and other various festivals. SVMF really stands out from these. Dare I say Coachella North? Spectacular location. Very well organized. Festival ground layout was top notch. Food and beverages reasonably priced. Fantastic line-up and great variety of styles. Audio and visual presentation well done. Great and helpful staff. This is a festival to come back to at this location is Squamish. Well done.

    Squamish Music Festival

by Shera1234567 on 2014-08-13Loggers Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields - Squamish

I was not impressed. I specifically went to see Eminem and get some stuff to bring back. They were all sold out since Thursday. I put money on my wristband just to get stuff. I will never go back again!!

Crowd was great! Venue awesome! Food overpriced! Where was all the Danny Brown and Eminem Merchandise? People awesome, except that drunk/high girl behind me that kept trying to put her finger in my ear! (among other things!) . Sun was hot, company great, MUSIC was THE BEST!!!!

    Camping

by surfer13 on 2014-08-13Loggers Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields - Squamish

The Camping conditions were pretty unforgettable. Gravel sandpit with high winds did not lend itself to ideal place to relax. I won't be camping next year

    Squamish festival 2014

by Beanz75 on 2014-08-13Loggers Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields - Squamish

Happy with the overall experience at the festival.Everything was organized & waits wernt too bad.Went Sunday to watch Eminem & he was amazing !!! Loved he came back to Canada & gave his all.Sooooo good ! Dissapointed that his tshirts soldout by Thursday/Friday & none were made for his show on Sunday.Everyone milling around merchandise booth but left empty handed. They lost a lot of extra sales with majority of people attending Sundays show that never had a chance to buy tshirts.Cant wait for next years event & hope the wristbands are used again but without the refund charge for leftover $

Absolute blast! The setup of the venue was terrific and even though there was an estimated 30,000 people, it felt spacious enough so that it didn't feel overwhelmed with people! Volunteers were terrific and the atmosphere was happy and positive throughout the festival!!

    The best weekend ever

by Nanavana on 2014-08-13Loggers Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields - Squamish

This event was so well run. The bands were world class! I purchased the 3 day event and 3 day camping. I was worried the camping would be filthy. As much as I would have preferred to be on grass instead of sand.....the bathrooms were kept clean. There were plenty of them. Hot showers were awesome. Lots of water filling stations and food vendors at the site. I would recommend shuttles to and from the camp site to the venue though and more power outlets to charge up phones etc. The festival grounds were gorgeous and like I said before, the entertainment was first class. I took the whole family and we had a blast!!!!!!!!! Final thought, the security were kind and everywhere! Everyone was helpful and smiling the whole weekend!

    VIP - Not worth it!

by Malekai on 2014-08-13Squamish Valley - Squamish, BC

After attending Osheaga in 2013 I assumed that if Virgin was putting on the festival then paying more for VIP tickets would be a no-brainer. Boy was I wrong! If I was willing to overlook the fact that they only bothered to get one set of bathrooms for each stage (they were lined up so badly that out of desperation many women just overtook the men’s washroom), the lineup for the bar was a good 30-45 minutes long and at the main stage you were so far away that you could only see the artists on the big screens - I still can’t get over the fact that I paid $800 for a concert ticket and I DIDN’T HAVE A SEAT. Granted, it was nice to have a tent so you could get out of the sun, if you are charging an extra $400++ per person for VIP I would expect that part of that money would go towards renting something for me to sit on! We tried talking to a number of staff to see if anything could be done but the response was always “that is not my responsibility”. I was also shocked to see what a poor job the organizers did in keeping all areas clean, it was fantastic to be in this beautiful mountain setting, and appalling that they did not seem to have anyone tasked with keeping it beautiful! All and all – while the performers put on an amazing show the organizers did a terrible job in planning and the there was nothing "upscale" about the VIP area.

    AM

by 98765432111 on 2014-08-13Loggers Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields - Squamish

The festival was fun, food was very expensive, I didn't like how I couldn't get back in once I left the gates and the cashless wristband thing was annoying because you have to wait 10 mins for the thing to process. Make it normal next time.

Poor parking & idiots with cell phones

by TinaT on 2014-08-13Loggers Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields - Squamish

I will definitely attend this event again. I will never pay $50 for parking. $50 dollars!! The lot was terribly rutted and full of scrub brush and it took us TWO HOURS to get out of it. We were told that the lots had to be emptied by 1:30, and traffic didn't even start moving until 2:00. Definitely not worth anywhere near $50!! The stage set up, food venues and lay out of event were awesome. The artists I saw were fantastic, as was the sound. However, the majority of concert goers seem to believe it's more important to record the event than it is to enjoy the event. I could not see the main stage - my view was a sea of cell phones and cameras on sticks. It was extremely annoying. The amount of bathroom stations also seemed insufficient.

    Squam rocks!

by Gkitty on 2014-08-13Loggers Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields - Squamish

We had an amazing 3 days at the Squamish Fest! Great band line up and great ammenities. People we met were awesome and all there to have a good time. Only thing to critique is the beer selection. Wish there were some local breweries included.

Great acts, but need some improvements

by Wengy on 2014-08-13Loggers Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields - Squamish

overall good event, and well managed despite the larger crowds on Sunday night..... The one thing need improvements though, is the cashless pay via your arm-wrist gig.... The fact that one has to "Guestimate" how much money one wants or need with no chance to get a credit for non used funds or must go back for a unreasonable line up to "Top up" that bracelet, simply is.... well extortion.... Not right and must be fix for next year.....

Amazing lineup, poorly set up festival

by sc1994 on 2014-08-13Loggers Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields - Squamish

The capacity of this festival increased this year (35,000+ people) and I would have thought that they would have made adjustments to accommodate this. There were only 2 gates for general entrance, which caused a 2 hour lineup just to get into the festival. Was the same thing exiting the festival at night. Hopefully more adjustments will be made next year to accommodate the influx of festival goers.

by LeahG on 2014-08-13Loggers Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields - Squamish

I've been waiting my whole life for Eminem to come to Canada. It was amazing!!!! They really need to make the stage higher though, us short people get lost in the crowd!
