Steve Earle was great, down to earth kinda of guy. Great show overall
Seats were good! Love it when the artists sound better in person!! Hands down would see them again!
Great show! Steve and the Dukes never fail to impress. It’s too bad it is a lousy venue. The sound quality is poor. Sight lines aren’t great. There are consistently over served attendees causing disturbances during the performance.
It was amazing... I hadn't seen them for nearly 20 yrs...
Love Steve Earle is was the greatest concert love copper head road
Steve Earle played nonstop for 2 1/2 hours, he was very engaging with the audience. He was funny entertaining and can still play excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed his show.
The band was great harmonies fantastic the set list was bang on
Great show I go and see him every time he comes to Winnipeg. Club Regent is not as good a venue as the Burt but Steve Earle was terrific.
Steve still loves his job! The 2018 tour schedule is insane yet this artist shows no fatigue...the hardcore troubadour has again delivered straight from the heart! The talents of Steve, the Dukes and the Mastersons were as always greatly appreciated.l
Opening son was Copperhead Road which really got the crowd pumped. He was funny and told some personal stories. Our seats were great although I wouldn't sit behind a aisle again because too many people walking by during the show. An overall great performer who still loves to perform and would definitely pay to see him again.
It's been several years since I've seen Steve Earle and the Dukes perform live. It's possible he was not feeling well (?), but it looked like he ran out of steam by he half-way point. His voice sounded gravely and off-key from the start. The only saving grace was his band, who luckily are still up to the challenge.
Great show. Warm up band was slack by themselves but was a definite asset to the group
One of the most important people outside the musicians is the sound man. The concert would have been much improved had soundman any talent whatsoever. An extremely poor job. The balance was poor, to loud and distorting at times. Cheaping out on a sound man is the last place you guys should be cutting costs.
Steve was in fine shape, his singing and playing were perfect. The Dukes were flawless in their role as backup. Excellent guitar work and violin. The rhythum section were tight. A flawless show all around.
Steve Earle and the Dukes were at their very best last Tuesday evening, Sept. 18th at MTELUS. From the moment Steve walked out on stage to introduce the Mastersons, the husband and wife duo who opened the show and who are part of the Dukes backup band, we could instantly feel the genuine warmth and love that was about to peal forth from the stage. Earle wasted no time, starting right off with the synth-bagpipe intro to Copperhead Road on the 30th anniversary of it's release. There was no difference between the original recording and the performance, except it was live and better. My kids, who've been singing songs from Copperhead Road in the car all their young lives, were blown away. Earle was gracious and giving throughout the show, as were the Dukes. Like us, everyone sang along with every song as if the show had become a kind of communion. Plus, Steve seems to know more about Canada than many Canadians. He even spoke a few words in French and had a few political opinions as well. Just an outstanding love-in. My birthday present from my wife and kids. An all-round memorable musical experience. Even better because of the cozy and comfortable MTELUS venue.
Steve Earle is still in fine vocal form, and told a few fun stories while runing through the Copperhead Road album on its 30th anniversary, but he and his band rollicked through a great selection of his songs including highlights Galway GIrl, I Ain't Ever Satisfied, and finished with an energetic rendition of Hendrix's Hey Joe. We weren't able to stay for it, but thought that the Meet and Greet with the band afterwared was a nice touch.
My third time seeing Steve Earle, and the first where he focused on playing what made him famous; namely the Copperhead Road album. Usually, Steve does what all musicians do; play their latest record, and then the hits. The last song, which people start crying out for right through the entire concert, is the famous song, Copperhead Road. In this concert, it was the opening song, and he played the album through to its entirety; with a narrative to let us know how it happened. He played more from GuitarTown and Agent Zero, and then some of his favourites. His band is even better than the original, which was great. Other than the bass player, all the musicians have been changed, and this lineup was superb. He even played, "I'm Still In Love With You, without Iris Dement, and it was beautiful.
Steve was his usual, sincere self...the current version of The Dukes is perfect...great set list, must be tough for him to pick with all his great songs to choose from...great night as always!
Mr Earle continues to work very hard and always delivers memorable music amazing talent
This was the 6th or 7th time I have seen Steve Earle and the second or third time with the Dukes. Wish I could have seen him with Shawn Colvin. It was a really goood show but there was about 30 to 40 per cent of this concert that they raced through about 8 songs, all with electric guitars. It was a bit like they have been on the road too long and cannot wait for the show to end. The sound that night during these 8 songs was a continuous wall of sound which barely gave each song much distinction. But I still love Steve Earle and the Dukes. Steve never puts out a bad album and he is a great songwriter.
