Fantastic show. We enjoyed it very much. Steve's new music is great, he played all the classics too.

saw Mr. Earle 30 years ago on my 19th birthday in Vancouver BC and then again this month at the superb commodore ballroom. Back then he had 43 guitars in front of his stage, same this time. Ive seen The Who, the Stones, Bowie, acdc, Super tramp, police, pearl jam, neil young, monsters of men, but no one is as passionate and rocks country/blues out as much as steve earle. Long live guitar town. Long live his wicked Hey Joe cover with the almighty Mastersons... rock n roll. come back to Calgary. jimmy james Inglewood Calgary Canada

by Sal49 on 2017-10-05Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5Had such a great time at the show on Sunday! Steve was in great form and The Mastersons were just amazing! Thanks Steve!

by jethrotyke on 2017-10-04Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5It was great to finally see Steve Earle, the show was excellent. Steve stayed after the show to sign albums etc. after the show which was awesome.
Steve Earle, forever the outlaw.
by michaelat on 2017-10-04Grey Eagle Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5Steve Earle is consistent, in that he never fails to amaze while also offering up some surprises. One has come to terms with the playing of Copperhead Road-as I'm sure he has as well, yet one also never tires of hearing it performed live by Steve. This tour is to celebrate the release of his latest album, So You Wanna Be An Outlaw, recorded with The Dukes, and the opening act was The Mastersons-his guitarist and his fiddle playing vocalist. They were excellent, offering up a half hour of country honk, many of the songs featured on their latest album. Tasteful and enjoyable. And then Steve and The Dukes took the stage. Starting with songs off the new album, the show was already into high gear-where he kept it-even through the ballads... The onstage dialogue helped bring the songs even closer to the audience, able as we were to feel the intimacy of the shared moment. After that, nothing else mattered.
steve earle
by micc on 2017-10-03Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5Saw the 30th anniversary Guitar Town show in November, thought that he was slowing down. Couldn't have been more wrong! His voice was as strong as ever, band was very tight and the passion/effort was great. This was one of the best Earle shows I have ever seen, and I've seen a few. Hope he comes back again and again and again, one of my favorite artists. Keep rockin!!
Steve Earle returns to his roots
by Birdman269 on 2017-10-02River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 5 out of 5Steve Earle was known early in his career as a country/rockabilly singer song writer with a hell-bent for leather attitude and a knack for writing songs that grabbed your attention. Over the years, his career has taken on many different forms and, as far as I can tell, created a genera of music that can only be referred to as "Steve Earle music" since it defies all stereotypes and descriptions. A good friend of mine was lamenting that Steve was going "country" again and feared the music would be not the rockin' version he appreciated on the Terraplane album. Well, yes, there were a couple of lower key country songs on this album, but the rest are a set of outlaw, rockin, kick ass, making Waylon Jennings proud music that transcends country. Steve and his band were energetic, belting out the new songs and mixing in a generous amount of the classics that bring the crowds to their feet. He even brought out a treat, covering Jimmi Hendrix "Hey Joe" which was done with surprising fidelity to the original (special props to Chris Masterson who brought his exceptional guitar skills to this).
Steve Earle and the Dukes were amazing!
by Zebulon on 2017-10-02River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 5 out of 5This was a fantastic concert and I got a lot for the price of the ticket--over 2 hours of really good music. The opening set by the Mastersons was a great bonus. The only drawback were the rude, loud, drunk people who go to these concerts and have no appreciation for the music or consideration for those who actually came to hear the music. It's too bad River Cree doesn't do more to ensure all concertgoers can have a good time, not just the ones supporting the bar. Steve Earle has a large and diverse catalog of music and we got to hear a lot of it. I hope if Steve comes back to Edmonton he can find a venue for music lovers and get the full appreciation someone of his talent deserves.I'm not sure I would go back to River Cree.
Best Earle show ever?
by Dfish on 2017-10-02River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 5 out of 5Definitely the most country, most electric, most rocking show since the first time I saw him at the Winspear eons ago. Just a tremendous party from start to finish! Only tarnish was that, as ever, NYC wasn't on the set list. I'm 0/6+ getting to hear it now...
Not great sound
by Anonymous on 2017-10-02River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 3 out of 5I've seen Steve Earle 7 times now in various Edmonton venues. The ones that are less formal often do not have the greatest acoustics. The River Cree arena is a huge open hall - almost like a massive Quonset hut - with a cement floor. Very booming. Wall of sound. it was hard to discern instruments from one another and hard to make out the lyrics. Steve's all about the lyrics man. And truth be told Steve mumbled quite a bit - his energy level seemed to vacillate. If you've seen him before you know this can be the case. It seemed more so this time round than any other time I've seen him.
Steve and the Dykes rock the "Peg" again
by Wpg58 on 2017-10-02Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5Once again this amazing musician and the Dukes delivered an outstanding performance. Songs from new and old were entwined with his stories and viewpoints in his southern drawl...I expected no less...That's Steve Earle
Steve Earle
by Avidavid on 2017-10-02River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 5 out of 5The Hardcore Troubador rocked the house as usual. He hit all of the high points, and some of the lows. I couldn't have asked for more.
Unhappy customer
by arsenl1 on 2017-10-02River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 1 out of 5Started with the wrong time on the tickets(9pm start vice 8pm) and just got worse. Not one person in the band including Steve Earl appeared remotely interested in being there. As long as you faced the stage the sound was good, turn your head and get the bounce back from the wall behind. Even hearing it twice you couldn't figure out what the hell Steve Earl was singing as he mumbled his way though the entire event. Some people really enjoyed it but as one of the few "sober" people there, it was not worth the money.
Steve Earle
by Bean5090 on 2017-10-02River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 4 out of 5I'm not a big fan of the venue, due to seating and it's a big tent. However it was nice to see Steve. For some reason though the sound was not the best. The music was great but we couldn't hear a quarter of the lyrics. Either the mic was screwed up of Steve was just not close enough.
Steve Earle is just so great
by silver on 2017-10-02Grey Eagle Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5if you want to see one of the best song writers -then you need to check out Steve Earle

The sound is just awesome in this venue so it makes it even more enjoyable. Steve Earle and the Dukes, a fantastic country rock band, deliver as usual.
