Never miss this show!
by CWV1978 on 2017-10-01Grey Eagle Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5Unreal, as usual. I have seen him twice before this and make it a habit to never miss him if he is even close to my area

Ear Splitting Disappointment
by AeMan on 2017-09-30Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 1 out of 5Wow. What a disappointment. Someone really should be over-seeing the sound at these events. I just saw Burton Cummings and K.D. Lang in The Burt and it's remarkable how some artists know how to do a sound check. At first you couldn't even hear Steve's vocals and then during the last 2/3rds of the show it got so loud it became painful. When you have a Fiddle player, Stand up Bassist, Lead Guitarist, Steel Guitarist, Electric Piano and Drums you would think there would be a separation of sound. The Steel Guitar was barely audible on it's own. They came out with a Mandolin and an Accordion and you would never have known it. It was so loud and muddled it made the entire experience a huge disappointment. My seat was 5th row, section B, seat 1. Big mistake. I will never understand how someone pays good money to experience an evening of music and spend half their time getting up to get booze. I will never get an aisle seat again. Lastly, if I hear one more musical act start preaching about politics during their show I think I will puke. I go to listen to music to get away from the politics of the world. All in all it was money wasted. Like I said, I go to many concerts and this is the first in a while where I left feeling like I should have gotten my money back.
Steve Earle and The Dukes
by CJBee on 2017-09-30Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5Steve Earle fans are the worst. Drunk. Belligerent. Yelling at elderly people who stand. Screaming out "Copperhead Road!" dozens of times. Dudes - Steve Earle's story and his poeticism deserve better. He is a talented performer and a fantastic musician. So You Want to be an Outlaw songs sprinkled with old favourites. He played for two hours and I would definitely see him again.
Great concert but take hearing protection
by grammarae on 2017-09-30Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5This was a great evening EXCEPT for sound mix. The energy & musicality of the performers was outstanding, little time was wasted between songs so I can't even pretend to know how many tunes were belted out. The stagehand was phenomenal in having change of instruments at the ready. But, sadly, I had to stuff my fingers in my ears when trying to make out lyrics and often just to stave off what felt like a headache from the volume.
Venue and artist superior

Steve is always amazing
by TheDaughterSteveNeverHad on 2017-07-14Sagebrush Theatre - KamloopsRating: 5 out of 5This man puts on an incredibly raw, and honest show. There are no phony try hard moments, nothing but real heart felt music. I absolutely love him and will go to every show of his I can manage until one of us perishes. Yeah, I'm a die hard fan ok, I even have his face tattooed on my arm. I saw him 5 years ago, and it was the best live show I'd ever seen. I am seeing him again in September and I'm counting down the days!
Steve Earle and the Dukes
by Degelman on 2016-11-09Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 2 out of 5I have been to Steve Earle at few different venues, and have Enjoyed him immensely. However, the Sound quality was very mediocre at this event. I was very dissatisfied with the overall Show. The Artist was visiblely frustrated as well, so I know there was some issues there.
Guitar Town 30th Anniversary Tour
by LesterFallsapart on 2016-11-08Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5It was a packed house at the Burton Cummings Theatre for the Steve Earle Guitar Town 30th Anniversary Tour. It was my first time attending a show since they've began updating the seating, and improved sound system. No opening act for the tour, but the night was separated into 2 sets. Opening the night celebrating Guitar Town in its entirety, and returning for songs that ranged throughout his career.
To many songs the I didn't know

So good, worth every penny. He played so much, they're amazing!
Band was great ,the sound was weak
by jimmicorn on 2016-11-07Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 2 out of 5The performance was great Loved all the songs. The sound was terrible couldn't hear him talk and I was on the bottom of the top level.i know the upper people had it worse and I feel for them and my guests.I could hear him sing when he sang loudly into the mic but the soft songs did not come through And his talking was inaudible.
Steve's still ROCKIN it :-)
by PamV on 2016-11-07Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5Glad the show was a Fri nite, had a blast and Steve put on another excellent show! Disappointments were the couple in the row ahead of us who told us and others to shut up........really??? It's a rock concert, if you need it to be quiet you should have bought tickets in the upper balcony (where they were yelling that they couldn't hear anything) and not tics on the floor. Would also have preferred Steve to play his own songs for the encore, I would have loved to hear Snake Oil........still had a great time. Thanks Steve!!!
steve earle - Guitar Town
by Joliet on 2016-11-07Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5The show was highly enjoyable , great band , good sound, good mix of songs in second set, enjoyed the playing of the entire Guitar Town album especially "Little Rock and Roller" which I had forgotten about over the years. However, Copper Head Road is like an albatross around Steve's neck as a good portion of the crowd seem to have come just for that song. (they certainly did enjoy it when he did play it)
Steve Earle at the Burt
by graand on 2016-11-07Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5I mention the name of the venue 'cause it's a critical part of the concert review. The Burt is not a good place for concerts! The acoustics are bad and it seems very difficult for bands to get the mix right. For the first three or four songs the sound was 'muddy' and the only instrument that you could really make out was the drums. Everything else kinda disappeared into a murky mess of sound. Finally while Steve was talking someone from the balcony yelled "We can't hear you!"! Steve first said " Well, what do you want me to do about it?", then he said to the sound guy "they can't hear me in the balcony". The sound guy made some changes and it improved the sound quite a bit. Still not great but at least you could make out the fiddle while she was playing and the vocals were quite a bit clearer. As far as the concert, it was relatively low energy for the first half, almost like the band had had enough of Guitartown. The second half was much better, and Steve opened up much more. He's not a talker at the best of times, and didn't have a lot to say but his music and presentation was great. There's a reason for the sold out house! His audience was diverse to say the least! Nice mix of older and younger, even gender split, some raucus cowboy types and a few folkies.
