    Steve Hackett

by Auntpolly on 2014-12-05Massey Hall - Toronto

I loved the show and I love the sound at Massey Hall BUT the seats are so crowded and small. I am only 5'3" and I was so cramped up it was unbearable. People around us were moving about for the same reason.

A great night at Massey Hall

    by yesfan49 on 2014-12-05Massey Hall - Toronto

Steve Hacket and his band put on a great show The old Genesis set list reminded me of how inventive and creative the music was in the 70s. The singer did a good job covering the Peter Gabriel vocals. It's too bad that Hacket made him stand behind him all night. I think a good singer should always be out front and centre as is the current singer in Yes. Steve Hacket remains an underrated guitarist. He is fantastic and he sure seemed to love being on stage. We Genesis fans were in heaven for a few hours .

Multiple "wow" moments during this fantastic show. The many standing ovations were a testament as to how good this show was.

    Teens and twenties Redux

by Groucho on 2014-12-05Massey Hall - Toronto

Brought back a lot of memories of old girlfriends and the early days of romancing my wife...believe it or not. Genesis (or Steve Hackett if you prefer) were iconic and their music holds up so well. Even S.H. was heard to comment a few times how much he enjoyed playing these tunes. What really amazed me was how strong a guitarist S.H. is...truly an axe man!

Steve Hackett recreates the Genesis experience!

    by Hipster62 on 2014-12-05Massey Hall - Toronto

I grew up in Montreal and was always a huge fan of Genesis. My dream was to one day see the original band, back together, performing all the classic songs that were written when Steve Hackett and Gabriel were still in the band. This is a young boys dream come to life. Steve Hackett, who in my opinion is one of the all time best "Progressive Rock" guitarists put together a band, that played this music perfectly. The audience gave him many standing ovations, as we heard songs from "Foxtrot", "Nursery Crimes", "Selling England By the Pound", "Trick of The Tail", and "Lamb Lies Down on Broadway". If you have a chance to see this show, you will not be disappointed, it is one of my favorite shows of all time

    Pure musical geneius

by UKZippy on 2014-12-05Massey Hall - Toronto

Last time I saw Steve Hackett was in 1978 with Genesis. This concert was even better! Hackett was the front man, where he should be as an awesome guitarist and song writer. The weakest link were the vocals, but then if you stopped comparing the vocals to the Peter Gabriel years, they were good and just as entertaining. After all this is not a Genesis re-union tour, but Genesis re-visited. A great touch was the wind insturments, flute, soprano sax. What a great sax solo in 'you know What I Like' The venue is amazing, smaller venues are the only way to see live music!

Thank you Steve Hackett and band!

by DangerousDan on 2014-12-05Massey Hall - Toronto

Having always been unable to attend previous visits by Steve Hackett, there I sat 41 years since the last time I saw him, about to hear some of my favourite all-time licks being performed by the most creative guitar player on the planet. I was at a Massey Hall show in, I think, 1973 when Genesis performed 'Selling England By the Pound' and most of their lighting gear hadn't made it in time for the show (truck broken down on the 401). That was the last time I saw Steve perform my favourite Genesis tune / Hackett solo, 'Firth of Fifth' live. And this very capable band did not disappoint. From the tinkling of the ivories to begin the moment until the virtuoso took over, my anticipation was palpable. And he did not disappoint! It was the best that the solo had ever sounded. Worth waiting for, I just wish it hadn't been so long! Steve is possibly the most underrated and certainly the most underappreciated guitar player I have ever seen/heard. Yet he maintains a positive, gentlemanly and dignified spirit about him. And a great sense of humour - paying back a heckler from more than forty years ago, with the audience's unanimous assistance, during the intro to 'Watcher Of the Skies'. It was fantastic Steve, thank you and "I love this stuff" too!

Steve Hacket delivered an awesome performance

by kcotsdoow on 2013-10-08Theatre du Casino du Lac-Leamy - GATINEAU

It was very obvious within minutes that Steve had put a talented group of musicians together. You can't do a tour called Genesis Revisited just to make money. You owe it to the fans to perform at the highest level; Steve Hacket and his band do exactly that, nothing less! Nad Sylvan is just awesome. He doesn't try to imitate Gabriel (who can?). But his voice is pretty well in Gabriel's range, leaving nobody indifferent, the guy can sing and perform! After just a couple of songs you know that you're in for a hell of a show!

Loved to hear these old tunes again. They played everything I was hoping they would. Volume a bit too high, bass way too boomy.

    A step back in time

by Hacketteer on 2013-10-08Theatre du Casino du Lac-Leamy - GATINEAU

I am so pleased that Steve Hackett and his band had the collective wisdom to make a stop an this venue, and I am sure that Steve felt the same given the warm welcome he received from the audience. It is a rare and treasured moment when the reciprocal adoration is exuded between the performers and their attending fans which was manifestly abundant during this magical evening where Steve recounted so many of Genesis` best musical expressions. All of the band members contributed beautifully to each arrangement and there were moments when I thought I was back at the Ottawa Civic Centre in the mid 70`s listening Genesis when they were in their stride. For this Mr Hackett, I thank you for turning my clock back 35+ years. For any nostalgic Genesis fan Steve`s show is a must and all the more pleasurable in a venue that more than aptly compliments the performance.
