    Strawberry Shortcake spectacular, doodlebops flop

by Mindola5 on 2013-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Doodlebops were very disappointing. The sound and singing was not very good. It was way too loud and it sounded like they were screaming. It was not even the original doodlebops. Their energy and dancing was the only thing that made up for the lack of singing ability. Even the three and four year old said they did not like the doodlebops performance although they like the show. Strawberry Shortcake on the other hand was very entertaining. All the girls that were performing, did a wonderful job dancing, singing and acting. The storyline was cute and the girls enjoyed every minute of it. I would recommend seeing Strawberry Shortcake but not doodlebops.

Found strawberry shortcake very boring and the doodlebops should have been on stage longer. We left early so naybe they came back but 15 mins Wasn't enough.

It was awkward that the Doodlebops came on for 15 minutes, then a 15 minute break and then Strawberry Shortcake on for almost too long for our little girls to keep focus. Also a bit disappointing that ushers wouldn't let the kids dance in the aisles.

I thought the Doodlebops were boring, not entertaining, and did not capture the little kid's attention. My kids were asking me over and over when that was going to end. The sound was very poor which was surprising as Jubilee is designed for optimal sound. The 15 minute break after 15 minutes of opening act of Doodlebops' performance was ridiculous since majority of audience were preschool age. If anyone had any knowledge of attention span of that demographic of kids they would reconsider their break. And finally, Strawberry Shorcake show had also very bad sound, stage lighting was poor, and boring story line. My four year old who adores Strawberry Shortcake wanted to go home after 10 minutes of the show. Overall extremely disappointed with the entire show that cost me a lot of money.

    Strawberry Shortcake

by Cherryjam1 on 2013-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The wait between the doodlebops and strawberry shortcake was way too long. The doodlebops performed first for 15 minutes which was followed by a 15 minute break which was actual atleast 20 minutes before strawberry shortcake started. The kids waited for the show to begin and then shortly thereafter that to wait again.....not ideal.

    Doodlebops not very good!

by Missmackay on 2013-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

My question to my husband was, do they do a sound check before they come out? The sound was terrible. My daughter was so excited to see doodlebops and they played 3 songs, the whole time Strawberry shortcake was on she asked if the doodlebops were coming back. I thought that Strawberry shortcakes act was to advanced for the average age that was there. The children were all restless about 20 mins before the show ended. I thought that the doodlebops could have played longer and had more key features like bus driver Bob and Jaz. But they sounded terrible and nothing like the doodlebops.

    Not what I thought

by tkdes on 2013-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

A friend and I took our daughters aged 4.5 and 2.5 thinking it would be characters similar to the TV series but it was women dressed in wigs. There was a story and a ton of singing. My almost 3 yo watched the first 20 min then kept asking if it was over yet, and the 4.5 year old barely held on until the end. There was no intermission and not for kids under 6 or 7 in my opinion.

    Kids lost interest quickly

by alliesmom on 2013-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The Doodlebops were great, and really my kids favourite part of the show. Wish they were on for longer! The Strawberry Shortcake show itself was really hard on the ears. They sang at a certain pitch and volume that was very hard to listen to. Even my kids complained of their ears hurting. The songs were catchy, but when they weren't singing, most kids in the audience weren't paying attention. Certainly was geared towards older children, and the audience appeared to be mostly 3-5 year olds. My kids enjoyed it, but I wouldn't say it was worth the amount of money I paid for it.

Make it magical .. Not forgetable!

by Newkat on 2013-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I think we make a mistake when we think our children need loud noise in order to be entertained. The Doodlebops are fun dancers but their stage presence and music is just noise! After a surprising 15 minute break, Strawberry Shortcake performers saved the show as their music told a story, had audible lyrics and fun costumes. However, I was expecting magical sets too and not just a one visual stage. No, I wouldn't be able to recommend this show.

    Strawberry Shortcake with Doodlebops

by ezmo on 2013-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Doodlebops portion was way too short, Strawberry Shortcake was lame did not hold my kids attention at all. Definitely not worth the ticket price nor worthy of the venue

It was rather disappointiing. Never heard of Doodlebops before and they just left us hanging in the air. We will be doing a talent show and then they practice and then tell us bye bye.

    Really fun, great time!

by youngfamily on 2013-01-21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I went to this show with my seven year old daughter, who really likes Strawberry Shortcake. I think she felt a bit old for the Doodlebps, but the main show she loved. Strawberry Shortcake and her gang sang some songs my daughter recognized from the show that she was able to sing along with. Beautiful singing, high energy cast and a really nice message and story about being true to yourself. We have gone to a number of kids shows over the years and this was really one of the best.

    Twas A Berry Good Time!

by Lynn1 on 2013-01-21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

My Mom and I took my 6 year old daughter and my 5 year old niece. They both loved the whole show, but the 5 year old raved about the Doodlepobs and 6 year old liked Strawberry Shortcake better. All in all, very enjoyable for all of us. I didn't mind this, but just a warning, it gets VERY loud! LOL! An auditorium full of screaming little girls, remember...

It would have been nice if Doodlebops could have played 10 mins longer. Strawberry Shortcake was too long for 3 years olds.

Strawberry Shortcake was so much fun!

by Momdawnd on 2013-01-21Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Show was excellent. However a 20 min intermission was too long for the young age group. I noticed many parents with young ones around 2-3years left the show about 10-15 mins before the show was over.
