Doodlebops were great. Strawberry not so much.

by Shannon1005 on 2013-01-28The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

My daughters, ages 2 and 6, really enjoyed the doodlebops, who we had never heard of, however they were bored with all the talking that strawberry shortcake and her friends did. At one point during the strawberry show asked when the doodlebops were coming back on stage. I'd buy tickets for the doodlebops again but not strawberry shortcake.

    Doodlebops &Strawberry Shortcake:great combination

by Bananapieces on 2013-01-28The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

My four year old attended the vancouver,bc show and enjoyed every it of it. This venue provides great views from most Seats on ground level. Fortunately my daughter is into both the Doodlebops and Strawberry Shortcake so the whole show was a win-win. It wasn't too long and she stayed entertained the entire time. Some complaints were: - music was airing on the loud side. Not sure if it was because our seats were closer, but it was a little irratating for my daughter. - Strawberry Shortcake told kids to standup and dance- however, at this venue the children cannot see the stage if they were to stand on the ground at their seats, so kids filled the aisles to party. Only to be ushered back to their seats by staff as it appeared to be a fire hazard. Kind of killed the mood. - lack of merchandise for purchase. My daughter opted for a tshirt only to find toddler sizes were sold out in pink and red. The next size up was youth, and only available in red or grey. We took red since grey is not an appealing color to a four year old girl. It comes down to her knees it is so big! Since this show is attended primarily by little girls, it is not a bad idea to ensure you have ample stock in girly colours such as pink for sale, and in little sizes. Just saying, if you want to make more money. Would recommend this show to a friend with kids for sure.

    Disappointing

by Busymommy on 2013-01-27Bell Performing Arts Centre - Surrey

The show is not worth the money we spent! The backdrop is one single screen which had never been changed to give you any surprises. Even the props are minimum and basic. Perhaps the kids can be fooled but not their parents! The acting was good but the story ended so abruptly which left the audience with the only surprise for the entire show!

    Strawberry Shortcake with the Doodlebops

by Buzzboy on 2013-01-26Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The Doodlebops were unforgettably horrid. There was not an ounce of talent displayed, just a lame bunch of jumping around foolishness -- which was out of tune to boot. The Strawberry Shortcake performance was a smidge better, though the making out the words to the singing was difficult. The 20 month old we took to the performance was entertained, but I would never subject a child any older to such a dismal performance.

    Magical Event!

by Grandma1 on 2013-01-25Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

Doodlebops were great, but we were a little thrown by the short amount of time between the start of the concert and the 15 minute intermission. At these 'geared for young children' events an intermission is really not needed. The Strawberry Shortcake performance was excellent and I would have awarded the entire show 5 stars if they had skipped the intermission. Music and dance were the strong points of the performance. When the characters were singing and dancing the audience was attentive. Great message of working together.

    Strawberry shortcakes/Doodlebops

by GrannyJanny64 on 2013-01-25Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna, BC

3yrs and up only! No two year old should go to this-too loud and too long. The Doodlebops were loud, and as wired as TV, and just 15 minutes? Then a too long intermission- please, 15 min? Strawberry put on a good show with a good story and a good set, the time of one hour was plenty...but, an hour and a half for the whole show is too much for the little ones. I'll not get duped into this kind of show again'!

    Strawberry Shortcake

by DMED on 2013-01-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The show did not hold the attention of my girls. They have been to a few shows they are both 5 and most recently watch the Nutcracker, and the Christmas Carol. So they are able to sit through a show both said this one was boring. The show was hard to hear and seemed very short. Very disappointing

Definity been to better kid shows

    by EMMA306 on 2013-01-23Jubilee, Edmonton - Edmonton

The show was okay, Strawberry Shortcake seemed to drag and the intermission was too long for young kids. Unfortunately the sound was so lound that we couldn't really enjoy ourselves - totally ruined it for one of my daughters. We might have enjoyed it more if we'd brought ear plugs.

It was great, the singing and the costumes were amazing!! I couldn't get over how the actress who played plum really looked and acted like the one in the cartoon show.

    Your Daughter will Love it

by Mom2JacKaia on 2013-01-23Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I could've done without the Doodlebops. Especially since after waiting for the show to start and then only having them play for 15 minutes (after each song my daughter asked if they were done yet) just to wait another 15 minute intermission for Strawberry Shortcake was a lot to ask from a roomfull of kids. The Strawberry Shortcake portion was great though. It had a little storyline like an episode on TV yet had a TON of music and songs included that had my daughter up out of her seat and dancing away.

We thought that there would be more of the Doodlebops. Sadly, they only performed for 20 minutes. The Strawberry Shortcake part was a bit too long although it did have a good message.

Strawberry Awesome, Doddlebops Not So Much!

by FatherOfTwins on 2013-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The Strawberry Shortcake show was really bright, fun and enjoyable. It seemed as though the characters were actually singing and talking, and not just lip-syncing the songs or dialogue - which makes it much more enjoyable for us parents. There was an actual story line that our 5 year olds really enjoyed (followed a similiar plot as per the TV show). The singing was great, and the costumes were well done. The stage/set could have been better by being a bit more full or elaborate, as it was rather bare at times. Our girls have been constantly singing and doing their own Strawberry Shortcake concerts ever since the show! The Doodlebops - the only good thing I can say about the Doodelbops is that this opening act was only 15 minutes or so. Any longer would have been too painful! The TV show is tolerable, but this production was not. Thanks very much, Allan

    10 minute Doodlebops?

by Anonymous on 2013-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

At the recent Doodlebop/Strawberry Shortcake performance in Calgary, the Doodlebops were on stage for a mere 10 minutes then the show went in to an intermission. Perhaps that was a good thing because they should not be allowed to call themselves performers.

    Not so Great

by airdrie3 on 2013-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

It's a sad sign when your 6 year old leans over during the opening performance and says: "I prefer them better on TV." The Doodlebops opening act was terrible and very short - approximately 10 minutes. Although they gave the impression that if they continued they would have passed out from exhaustion. During their last 2 songs all you could hear was them gasping for breath. They had difficulties singing the songs together and sounded like they had never performed before. The Strawberry Shortcake performance was much better and it was more enjoyable because it told a story between songs. Over all the sound was too loud for my kids and there was some distortion and digital feedback at times. When we were leaving I asked my kids if they enjoyed themselves and they said yes, mainly because Strawberry Shortcake 'saved the day'!. The costumes were great and the dancing was enjoyable but the sound was distracting.

    Strawberry Shortcake

by sajwsajw on 2013-01-22Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Doddlebops = painful!!!!!! The Strawberry Shortcake show was well done and worth the ticket price. Canned music, but live singing. Great for 4-7 year olds. The no dancing in the aisles is sorta annoying.
