About

SUNSET BLVD. is the thrilling new reimagining of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit 1993 musical, which was based on the classic 1950 film of the same name. Starring Nicole Scherzinger – in her Broadway debut – as Norma Desmond, the Broadway revival opens at the St. James Theatre in September 2024 after transferring from a smash run on London’s West End. The musical tells the tragic story of Joe Gillis, a screenwriter struggling to make it in the Golden Age of Hollywood, whose life becomes wildly enmeshed with Desmond’s as the fading starlet claws her way back from obscurity. Featuring show-stopping numbers like “With One Look,” “The Greatest Star of All” and “As If We Never Said Goodbye,” the revival of the Tony-winning drama will teach Broadway lovers new ways to dream with a modern take on the classic tale of Hollywood stardom, glamor and the refusal to surrender your dreams.

  • People Willing Clap For Anything

by Pdale on 2017-06-06Palace Theatre New York - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

They will clap when the curtain goes up, at lines they remember from the film, when the car shows up onstage and at almost anything else. Glenn Close was especially brilliant while singing As If We Never Said Goodbye. There's that and there's The With One Look song in Act One. I dare anyone to sing a line from any other song in this show. This production was better and leaner than the one 20 years ago but that doesn't mean it should have ever been turned into a musical.

Glenn Close was excellent in the role of Norma Desmond. The orchestra and music were outstanding. An overall great theatre experience!

  • Sunset Boulevard you have to see!!!

by SFBM on 2017-05-03Palace Theatre New York - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

So I have heard 20 yrs ago this play was on Broadway and Glenn Close won a Tony for it. The show was so well done from the miniscule thing you can think of to major. It is the first time in quiet a while that I wanted more and thought the time flew. I highly recommend it. We spoke with people there that it was there second time back to see it. Now I know why!!

Glenn Close is AMAZING! She stole the show! The orchestra on stage is WOW!

  • Glenn Close is Brilliant as Norma Desmond

by eyalonship on 2017-04-22Palace Theatre New York - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

For what Close may lack in vocal chops she amply makes up for in an outstanding performance that's not short of breathtaking. I saw it years ago but this production was by far more stirring and intense. As always, loved the music and felt that this was an extremely well produced show from both a creative and artistic standpoint. Still, the show is at its very best when Close is on stage. She reminds us how well deserved are her praises.

  • She killed it!

by Dallas13 on 2017-02-15Palace Theatre New York - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Glenn Close is absolutely amazing in her reprisal of Nora Desmond. The voice and facial expressions are magnificent. The cast is great and the orchestra was beautiful. The moving score played to perfection, but the show is all Glenn Close. She has you transfixed on her and you are watching everywhere she is on stage and everything she does. It was an honour to see her in a role that seems like it was written just for her. She could do 20 curtain calls and I don't think the audience would leave or stop clapping. After walking out of the theatre all I could say was speechless! She was spectacular.
