Swan Lake - Alberta Ballet Tickets

The show was ok but lacked a little wow costume where ok, performance was ok and there interpretation was a little confusing. Unfortunately and This is not the fault of jubilee but we where harassed by another person when I removed my mask for max 3 min while I fixed my husbands mask because it broke ( I had to remove it as my glasses fogged up and I couldn’t see) where as others around had not worn there mask since they sat down. This event wrote off the rest of the night for us.

We enjoyed the ballet. Nice to be able to go to performances again.

We saw the matinee performance on Saturday, my friend Kale Lazarick was dancing and we enjoyed the show so much. We will definitely come again!

Loved getting out to see a performance, the hard work of the artists, the costumes and sets; and that passionate, moving score. But did the choreography live up to the music? Maybe it was due to having to practice under pandemic restrictions, but the complexity of the dance moves seemed to be wanting. The changed ending did not match the music, and the gut-wrenching ending that should have stayed with me - was non-existent. I've only seen Swan Lake two other times, and each of those times I left the venue with the pathos and passion of that sweeping score running through my being. It did not happen this time. I read the reasons behind the choreographic change, but I think this sanitized edition falls short of the emotional mark.

A fabulous performance by Alberta Ballet. The choreography and dancers were excellent, a definite show of the passion and skill possessed by the company. The set was one of the best I have ever seen, it added so much to bringing the performance to life. Nothing about this show left you wanting, except for it to not end! 10/10 a standing ovation well deserved.

This was my first time ever going to the ballet. I knew swan lake was one of the most coveted so i wanted to see! I took my little sister, and i was absolutely amazed. The grace and poise of these dancers took my breath away. Truly a lofecjanging experience

After waiting for more than a year and a half to see Alberta Ballet back on stage, this beautiful production was so worth the wait! The sets and costumes were wonderful and set just the right mood for each scene. Watching the amazing dance troupe perform together with such joy and passion gave us shivers. And we loved the ending - we all needed to see hope, not tragedy. Thank you very, very much for all your hard work, effort, and patience!

I have seen Swan Lake many times, and fallen asleep many times. Not so this time! The dancers were amazing and clearly extremely talented, the action constant, and the set absolutely beautiful. My favorite were the scenes with the the evil sorcerer. Highly recommend!

We loved the music, the dancing, the costumes. Our old tickets were still valid and the check in process went smoothly. No problems anywhere.

I am disappointed to say that the show was just ok. I absolutely love the ballet and this was my first time at an Alberta Ballet performance. It lacked the drive and the passion. The dancers were going through the motions and regularly were making mistakes. I truly hope that this was the result of an off day, and not the overblown ego of being a big fish in an very small pond. It may have been a matinee performance but I still paid real money to attend, so it would be disappointing if it was treated as a dress rehearsal for that evening.

The evening was introduced with a fine, emotional video of dancers, isolated by COVID, training and then returning finally to the live production of Swan Lake. However, the live production only reached medium altitude on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021 in Calgary's Jubilee Auditorium. The Jube's stage appeared too large for the small corp of swans and hunters. However the troupe did its best to fill the space. The recorded music, at times, became overwhelmingly loud and needed an audio technician to turn it to a more acceptable level. The principal male dancer was excellent as was the principal female. The swans' flapping arms did not capture the majesty of the bird's wings in flight. But all the dancers were enthusiastic and worked hard to deliver. We were touched and moved by all their efforts after a long absence from the stage.

This was the most beautiful ballet I have ever witnessed. I got chills. I was moved to tears. The story was told with such passion. I am so happy Alberta Ballet is back to putting shows on. The jubilee handled the rush of people and restrictions very well, no long lines, no long waits, they are the pro's and you'll know that when watching a performance here. 10/10. Recommending it to everyone I know.

I bought tickets to swan lake early 2020. It was postponed a few times because of Covid but I kept the tickets to one day experience the magic of swan lake! My sister and I FINALLY were able to go and it was such a great experience. I felt safe the whole time and it was the same great performance we know and love from the Alberta Ballet. I'm eagerly waiting for new ballet events so I can purchase my tickets quick! I'm really glad that these events are back.

It was just beautiful and I have never been to one before but amazing first experience! Would go again every year.

Swan Lake, performed by the Alberta Ballet. was a wonderful experience. The ballet was absolutely exquisite! It was the first ballet that I have attended with my son and we were both awestruck with overall production, the performances and the scenery. This was the first large performance I have attended since the pandemic and all aspects to ensure safety were in place; as a Public Health care professional this was important to me. Thank you for this beautiful and memorable experience.

How wonderful to see the great talent we have in Alberta perform this beautiful ballet. The experience was captivating and so very nice to get back to live performances. Kudos to the dancers who kept in shape and tried to stay motivated by practicing in their own living rooms. Well done!
