"Led by Music Director Elisa Citterio, Tafelmusik is one of the world's leading period-instrument ensembles, performing on instruments and in styles appropriate for the era of the music. Renowned for dynamic, engaging, and soulful performances, Tafelmusik performs some 80 concerts each year for audiences across Toronto, and is Canada's most-toured orchestra, having performed in more than 350 cities in 32 countries. The orchestra is often joined by the critically acclaimed Tafelmusik Chamber Choir and its director, Ivars Taurins.
Tafelmusik also seeks to transport audiences to the baroque and classical periods through insightful multimedia programs and adventurous cross-cultural collaborations. Our musicians share their knowledge and experience through comprehensive education and artist-training initiatives such as the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer and Winter Institutes. Tafelmusik's recordings on the Sony, CBC Records, Analekta, and Tafelmusik Media labels have garnered ten JUNOs and numerous international recording prizes."

An interesting and informative thread throughout was the theme of the Indigo trade. The only weakness for me was the short interpretive dance number at the end. But really one of the best concert productions I've seen in a long time

The orchestra, choir, and all soloists made the evening one not soon forgotten. Anyone who has a love of music would be moved by hearing them. I will certainly look forward to future events.

It wove a tale both ancient and contemporary that was moving in its relevance to today, and wrapped it in a musical package that melded the best of European and African instrumentation and style. The choreography was imaginative and the script thoughtful. Sincere congratulations to all concerned with the concept and delivery of this impeccable performance.

It was very nice for when they played. Between the short songs they were giving lectures about Bach. Lectures which could have easily been on youtube as 20 or even 50 minutes clips. I was not interested in learning how he made school children learn do-re-mi and how violin string are made. I payed to go listen to his works in a concert hall.

The program was well-balanced, the playing superb and the choice of soloists was guarantee of a wonderful musical experience.
