About

Who explores a coral reef, plays in an octopus’s garden, and joins the jellyfish ballet – all before snack time?  The Backyardigans! Pablo, Tyrone, Tasha, Uniqua and Austin are back on stage, singing and dancing and ready to plunge sea deep into adventure. Dive into the action as these five friends explore clues, discover underwater magic, and match wits with an all-too-tidy octopus and a pair of playful (but messy!) dolphins. With a splashy range of song-and-dance styles to wade along to – including psychedelic soul, Bollywood, bossa nova, and more – our heroes save the day.

at almost $40 a ticket - not worth it!!

by disappointedmother on 2014-03-05Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Of the 3 kids productions I have seen at the Jubilee this was the worst. The show started a bit late and just started into the show. From what I understood It was an exact repeat of the show 4 years prior. I will be very selective of the next show I take my son too.

    great show

by titbits on 2014-03-05Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I as a parent loved it. So did my 3 and 5 year old. The older ones, ages 10 and 11 insisted on coming and loved the show as well. Good storyline, engaging. Audience participation could be greater. Aside from that, I'll recommend it and would go again.,

Kids had a blast with The Backyardigans!

by Anonymous on 2014-03-03Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

My kids, 3 years old and 9 months old, both enjoyed the Backyardigans show! Very interactive with fun music and engaging entertainment. My 3 year old couldn't stop dancing and my 9 month old loved the sounds and bright colours!

    Exciting for young children

by MommaD23 on 2014-03-03Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

The show was well done but is definitely meant for younger children. My 4 year old was not that impressed. However, she loved the ocotopus...

I had read some pretty harsh reviews on the show but was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be pretty good. It's a kids' show and the kids like it so there's really no need to criticize the props, set design etc. The only things that would've made it a little better for the kids would have been a shorter show with no intermission and maybe a little more interaction with the kids. Other than that my 2.5 year have a great time.

From the moment the curtains opened, my boys were captivated. This show is perfect for children who are between 2 and 5.

Good show with some minor issues

by Twinsmom2014 on 2014-03-02Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

Our daughter (age 3) loved the show but was frightened by the clam character and it threw her off a bit and she wanted to leave early. The intermission is half an hour and in many opinions too long for the age group that attends these productions. Overall she enjoyed the colourful characters and songs. I believe I saw this same production several years with my other children so I'd recommend a new storyline.

Backyardigans...my kids were so excited. We arrived and you could feel the excitement in the air. It was such a big deal. Tickets, the line ups, the crowd the huge theatre doors all of it. The show was kind of a jr high school production. The sets were simple and a little boring. The flow of it all was choppy. I'm not sure what some of the characters were even supposed to be. I do know that it was screechy and unpleasant at parts. I was disappointed and was expecting more for the $120 I put down. However my girls had a great time and were mesmerized by the music. I was hoping for more of an interactive show. Again. Disappointed. The souvenirs... Oh my how trashy. Zero selection. All crap that was available was over priced ($20 all items). But here's the best part... You had to wait in line for a long time to get up to the carnies selling their wears to see the sign posted on top of the counter ( and nowhere else) that it was cash only. Here's a tip... Invest in a sign. Just a thought. I know I was not the only disappointed parent or tot.

The show was very nice and kid's friendly. But even though, it seems to be fully sold, there were many seats available!! My friend couldn't buy any tickets any more as it was not possible to buy the tickets on-line!! How is that possible that the available seats were not offered on line??

Not worth what I paid for

by antiutopians on 2014-02-25Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

I went with my 5 year old. He loves watching it on TV but didn't grab his attention long enough for us to stay until the end. Too long with the break.

Intermission not needed & changed dynamics

    by splasher68 on 2014-02-25Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

It was a great show UNTIL the uneccessary intermission. A majority of children were completely engaged & excited until the intermission. The timing of it was very poor. After the break, the rest of the show was on the RIGHT side of the stage. There was a 'cage' up, which blocked a lot of the view from the left side. Most kids had already lost interest, and there was a lot of upset kids who were melting down (understandable when your view is blocked)! There was no 'meet & greet' after the show. I usually enjoy kids shows, not this one.

We found the sound too loud and our granddaughter (3) was terrified once all of the lights at the Jubilee Auditorium were turned off. I would recommend leaving some lighting on. We left at intermission.

    backyardigans is a waste

by kasm on 2014-02-19Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

First of all I'm really upset about their merchandise they don't have enough shirts and sizes for sale next they don't allow exchanges i purchased a stuffy for 20 bucks and they won't allow for exchanged the reason "germs" how would they assure me that their hands holding money holding the stuffs and contact with other hands to other people that they are germ free. Their props are really bad my 4 year old kid lost interest after 10 minutes. It really is a waste of money coming to this show never again would go to this concert.

    Happy Kids

by Conni on 2014-02-19Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This wasn't as exciting or detailed as Dora's concert but my girls enjoyed it and that's what mattered. Me and my husband found ourselves nodding off but our 4 year old was in her glory and our 2 year old was good until the intermission. There was hardly any merchandise either, what's with that? We will keep going as long as the girls are interested, after all it's for them not us.
