About

The Chicks are one of country music’s most influential and boundary-pushing groups. Formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1989 by sisters Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire, The Chicks (formerly known as the Dixie Chicks) rocketed to pop stardom with the addition of lead vocalist Natalie Maines in 1995. The multi-platinum trio would go on to win 12 Grammy Awards and become the best-selling female band of all time in the U.S., with 33 million albums sold worldwide. By blending honky-tonk with bluegrass and soaring pop vocals, The Chicks appealed to a diverse audience that stretched far beyond their country roots. Signature hits like 1999’s “Cowboy Take Me Away” and 1998’s “Wide Open Spaces,” along with their bluegrass virtuosity, saw The Chicks go from opening for Tim McGraw in 1999 to headlining massive concert tours that have sold over $100 million in tickets. 2020’s Gaslighter (produced by Jack Antonoff) was The Chicks’ first album in 14 years, and the catalyst for a 2023 tour where country-pop superstar Maren Morris will join the trio on a string of dates.

  • The talent was amazing the venue continues to disappoint

    by Chickfan4life on 2023-09-11Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

The Chicks reign supreme! They are true, stand up for what they believe in and are astonishingly talented! I have attended every tour they had and they keep getting better! I was excited to be able to bring my kids to their show - and it was a big hit! I am so disappointed though in the Calgary Saddledome. We were issued a travel advisory before the concert that the venue was ‘cashless’. When we arrived we were told debit didn’t work either. I don’t know about anyone else but part of a first concert experience is Merch. I am truly disappointed that I couldn’t give my kids the experience we all expected and deserved.

  • Just awesome

The Chicks pulled it off again!! Another amazing show. They just keep getting better.

  • Too political

by Me on 2023-09-10Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 1 out of 5

Just entertain us. Stop the rich white women trying to teach us. We want to forget about politics and enjoy the show. And frankly it’s sucked.

  • Best show ever!

So much fun! The Chicks know how to put on a show!!!!

  • Chicks Chatter

by Jo on 2023-09-10Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

The Chicks were amazing! Unfortunately, two women sitting in front of us talked throughout the entire concert. This was very distracting and annoying. Sadly, these two women didn’t seem to realize they weren’t sitting in a bar where their incessant chatter would be totally acceptable. When asked to be quiet, the two women became belligerent. It was disappointing that such disrespectful behaviour negatively impacted what should have been a great experience!

  • Sill love the Dixie Chicks but…

by LittleMoose on 2023-09-10Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

Dixie Chicks was always on my Bucket list to see since the 90’s. So I was excited to see them and have good seats. The tickets were fairly inexpensive in todays market: Though I love the Dixie Chicks, I was a little disappointed in the lack of crowed interaction they had. No encore. Their music was great just wished they played a few more songs. Still overall I’m glad I went. My kids enjoyed it as well.

  • Fantastic Concert!!!

by Sam on 2023-09-10Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing concert!! Marren Morris has such a strong beautiful voice - a great way to start off the evening. The Chicks did not disappoint. Their talent is unbelievable, both vocally and instrumentally. They sound even better live!!! Very memorable concert!

  • Good but leave out the activism

by Once a Dixie Chicks fan on 2023-09-10Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

I started to question these girls when they joined the woke movement and removed "Dixie". Then at the concert they of course had to have the activist videos on the screen with the flags and marches and Trump and Putin floating on a unicorn together. They also had to make it known half way through the concert that they "celebrate Pride 365 days a year"as per Natalie. Could've done without that but it felt as though that's what they've turned into - a group of woke activists. Their in-between-sets music and lighting was eery and psychedelic. Who are these girls and what happened over the years? We get that you're Allies but stop shoving it down our throats. Can we just go to a concert for the music and not be exposed to the divisive attitude that's everywhere nowadays? So tired of it and was more than disappointed to see it from the Dixie Chicks. Went in feeling pumped, left feeling morose.

  • Amazing concert!

    by Chicks❤️ on 2023-09-10Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

The Chicks concert ranks up in the top 1 percentile of the best concerts I have attended. The music, the references to current social, environmental and political issues was brilliant. The Chicks have set the bar for stadium concerts to the highest level. The demographic ranged from young to old demonstrating that their music is still very relevant. In fact, we attended The Chicks concert 20 years earlier noting that some attendees weren’t even born then and didn’t miss a beat singing along to older songs. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed the concert. If there was a second concert in Calgary, we wouldn’t have hesitated to attend again.

  • Amazing show

by Taradayle on 2023-09-10Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

The chicks put on one hell of a show. Such talent!! My third time seeing them and just so good! All time fav band. Venue could have been more prepared as the debit was down so we couldn’t purchase anything without a physical credit card. Which they didn’t notify anyone until 7pm. Concert started at 7:30. We were at the stadium by 6:30.

  • OK music but…

by Jo on 2023-09-10Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

Music was ok, played all their classics but like they have in the past they can’t help but force all their opinions in your face. Personally would not pay to see them again.

  • CHICKS ROCK

    by S.A.K on 2023-09-10Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome concert although they should have left stage and came back on for a couple more songs. Concert was suppose to be till 1130. But overall was fantastic. Except for the alcohol prices and not eveyone likes draft beer, and they should have more locations selling normal canned beer products so you are not wasting sp much time looking for corona or other normal beer. Bartenders who are the ones working hard probably lost out on lots of tips due to the outrageous prices! 1 can of corona at the saddledome costs the same as a 6pk in a liquor store, as if u need to make 100% profit on a glass of beer. Serious are u not making enough money off customers who are trying to have a night out when theyre barely making a living with these extraordinary living costs in this crazy country, thanks to a dumb f**k primeminister. Come on now really
