    Blindboys overshadowed

by polarbear on 2009-07-15Pantages Playhouse Theatre - Winnipeg

I went to see the Blind Boys Of Alabama since i had been a long time fan . I had heard good things about Ruthie Foster.and was blown away by her blend of Blues and gospel. Such a strong voice and easy stage manner left a great impression. After the intermission , The Blind Boys came on and tried to match her performance but couldn't come close. They were good ,but Ruthie was great. ......they should have been opening for her

    what a night !!

by lossomitos on 2009-07-15Pantages Playhouse Theatre - Winnipeg

Ruthie Foster stole the show, the energy in that woman is amazing, what a performer !! Her band was also incredible, so much talent . Being my first Blind Boy's concert, I was a bit disappointed to see only three of them, I thought there were more , that being said , the show was very lively, funny and extremely entertaining . Those voices are still resounding in my head . All in all an amazing night of music .

by jdgies on 2009-07-15Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I was thrilled to see Ruthie in this bigger venue; she was phenomenal. I hadn't listened to the Blind Boys much before this concert but I'm a big fan now. What character they have live and the music was top notch!

    Ruthie

by wheelsb on 2009-07-15Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

My wife and I really enjoyed both concerts (Ruthie Foster & Blind Boys of Alabama). We had front row seats so we felt really connected. Ruthie has a tremendous voice, but sitting up front we were forward of the speakers and we couldn't hear her over the instruments. We didn't notice this during The Blind Boys. Overall, it was a great evening.

the boys put on a great show!!,,I have been a fan of their recorded music ,but the energy they bring to a live performance is amazing,,,untouchable,Regardless of the musical genre you generally expose yourself to,it would be unlikley to not have really enjoyed the show. They display great musical talent,,with sincere emotion and comrradery,,,,I had a great time!!
