moscow ballet not all i expected

by jananne on 2009-11-09TCU Place - Saskatoon

The lead dancers were incredible but the group dancing was noticeably lacking in unison; saw dancers watching each other then being late on mimicking moves - a lot. Looked like they just weren't prepared enough and I was expecting a very high level of discipline and much better synchronized group dancing. The costumes were absolutely fantastic but again, there were distractions like some dancers showing bra straps, or some smiling and some not.

    No snacking, please!

by Archemedes on 2009-11-09TCU Place - Saskatoon

I enjoyed the ballet. The back drops were stunning and the dancers elegant. The inclusion of local children was priceless. The main disapointment, however, was the amount of patrons who thought they were in a movie theatre and snacked through out the second act. (Some even began behind me during the first act). I understand having bottled water. This would certainly help those people with a tickle in their throat. But, bags of potato chips?!! Different flavours?!!My daughters and I were very disturbed at the lack of culture that was implied of our usually classy audiences. Why is there even a consension stand open at all? We come for the beauty, the music and the culture, not lunch.

the show started out a little soft but after 15 minutes I was sold. A beautiful performance showcasing eligance and grace. This was well worth the price.

I was extremely disappointed with the Moscow Ballet's Nutcracker performance. Despite paying $71 for tickets, this ballet did not deliver. I was disappointed with the lack of a live orchestra at TCU place, found the opening act of a singer heavily promoting her CD in bad taste, thought the costumes were garish, the pre-recorded music lackluster, found the choreography amateurish and in general, a huge disappointment. Bottom line - don't waste your money.

    The Ballet Was Awesome!

by Mysty on 2009-11-09TCU Place - Saskatoon

I thought the Moscow Ballet was unforgettable. The performers were superb and did an awesome job! I took my grandmother with me to this ballet. She is 86 years old, and has always loved the ballet but had never before seen one in person. So needless to say it was a dream come true for her and it is awesome that she was able to see a ballet that was this excellent! HOWEVER, the management of TCU Place really need to step up on enforcing their rules! All over there are signs posted that say no food or drink allowed in the main theatre. As well a sign says no cameras and recording equipment allowed in the theatre. I was appauled that there were chip bags crunching, pop slurping in there as well as cameras flashing during the performance. I paid $93.00 for my ticket and when I go to an event like this, I do not want to feel like I am in a movie theatre. That is what it was like. It is a total disrespect to the people attending and more importantly to the performers to have people eating, drinking and flashing cameras during the show! This really should be a priority on the part of the management of TCU Place. PUT A STOP TO IT PLEASE!! Other than that, our experience was great! I will definilty go to another performance of any kind here.
