    Pretty Good

by Ironmike on 2023-02-27Grey Eagle Event Centre - Calgary

Concert was very good, liked to see 3 different bands. The gals really belt it out of the park However the cigarette smoke inside the hall was almost unbearable. Its the worst we've ever had it. Not sure if there was issues with the ventilation system but it was bad.

    Headpins!

    by Medic60 on 2018-01-30Century Casino - Edmonton

Not much of a Toronto fan but they rocked! I was not aware that Darby Mills had departed the Headpins and that she was replaced by Kat Lawrence. But Kat did a great job. I grew up listening to Darby and she will always be the Queen of the Headpins.

    toronto and headpins

by madder on 2018-01-30Century Casino - Edmonton

good shows for both acts surprised Toronto was first but I would have put Toronto second heaspins guitar was ok way to much distortion and stop tuning your one guitar on stage multiply guitars at this level would be better plus a guitar tech lled singer from headpins was good but no Darby Mills Holly Woods was awesome a little short for the set The service was bad not enough waitress help never once stopped by our table neer cleared the table either very little promotion of upcoming events

I was stoked to see the Headpins...You could barely hear Darby, a fan told her after the first song, she made a joke about it....Helix was great. TORONTO stole show...Headpins dissapoint.

    Play it LOUD!!!

by Joecalgary on 2015-05-19Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

What a great night! Both bands were amazing. All the hits were done up right and the crowd was on their feet dancing to the tunes. I felt 25 again! ; ) Even my partner sang along (something I've never witnessed in our 30 plus years together). Great fun. Would do it again in a heartbeat!!

    Darby Mills hot as Ever

by Ronsica on 2013-08-20Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

The venue was perfect, sound awesome. Darby belted out lyrics like it was 1981. Guitar and drum solos were amazing. Should have been there, missed a great show.

Lee Aaron was very entertaining. The Headpins rocked the house. Darby is still one of the best female rock singers in the business.

    Headpins, Helix & Harlequin - Sat, Feb 26, 2011

by KellyA on 2011-05-30Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

we enjoyed the show. Headpins and Harlequin were excellent! Helix was horrible. they sounded like crap and couldn't seem to get their groove on. we left only two songs into Helix's set. they sucked. thank god the other two band played first. the seats were way too close to the stage and we couldn't stand to dance and enjoy the bands we came to see. not everyone who comes to these 80's band are interested in sitting for the show. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too close to the stage, couldn't dance but stood for the whole show. sorry to all the old fogies that couldn't see past us! hahahahaha

Start time was too late for the older members of the crowd to enjoy the last band... In this case it was Helix. Vollmer (Helix) had issues with sound and with monitors which affected his performance. I think it threw him off for at least a few songs. The bums were in the chairs for most of their set - which in my opinion had more to do with the age of the group and the start time than the performance Harlequin played what the crowd wanted to hear. The Jokes about Canada Pension showed they seemed to have embraced their age and not tried to hide it. It worked for me. Mills stole the day with her voice that is out of reach for most everone out there. They could open for something bigger if the need arose.

    3 H's @ Chrome Room

by sandramd on 2011-02-28Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

Harlequin played all their greatest hits...awesome. Too bad the soundman sucked!! They sounded horrible and I was bracing myself for the mess Darby Mills might have been. Luckily, she had her own soundman, so she was better. Just as awesome as always!! Great voice, awesome show... Just turned 51 years old!! Love it!! Helix might as well not have taken the stage. People were leaving like crazy. Their sound was awful. We couldn't bear it... after a couple of songs we had to leave.. The Chrome room has to decide if they are going to be a high end venue, get rid of those dining room chairs and set it up like a proper showroom. The soundman needs to go!! They need quality sound to host these types of shows..
