    Unforgettable experience

by weeble on 2009-08-17Minskoff Theatre - New York

At first I was hesitant to see a Disney production on Broadway with all the other choices but am I ever glad we did!! My husband , 17 yo, and 15 yo loved it as well. Of course we were all familiar with the Lion King story, but the costume design and choreography was spectacular, not cheesy. They music and movement was perfect. The animals were so majestic and elegant. Of course Timon and Pumba were hilarious, as well as Zazu. Rafiki almost stole the show for me. I couldn't get enough. We were sad that it ended. I would go see this over and over,

    Magnificent!!

by Libbs on 2009-08-06Minskoff Theatre - New York

Seeing the Lion King on Broadway was a very special moment for me - it was the first time my 8 year old daughter had experienced a live show, and this was a perfect introduction for her into the world of theatre! On my part, a lot of thought went into selecting just the right show for her to see - I wanted the show to capture her imagination on many different levels, and it did. The costumes, the set production, the actors/dancers, and the music, all of it, just took your breath away. At the end of the performance, the audience gave a well deserved standing ovation - which I'm sure they must receive at the end of practically all of their performances. I was literally wiping tears away! My daughter and I LOVED the show and I'm so happy that she (and me) will have this amazing memory.

by chimanchi on 2009-08-05Minskoff Theatre - New York

The translation from movie to musical contained every award winning aspect, and also still impresses with the spectacular costume design. If this allowed me I would have given this show 5 Diamonds as well as starts

The lion king was the king of musical!

by maxi08 on 2009-07-31Minskoff Theatre - New York

We were traveling to Manhattan from Toronto and wanted to see a musical that would be suitable for my 12 year old niece and my 70 years old mom...and 35 years old me. Also, while my niece and I can speak English, my mom can't. Hmmmm......which musical will entertain all of us??? My husband had already seen the lion king and he recommended. And he was right! It was FANTASTIC!!! My mom who couldn't speak English could follow the story with excitement and I'd become the favorite aunt from my niece. I would definitely recommend the lion king to any family from any where!!!

    Lion King Fantastic

by norskebakke on 2009-07-18Minskoff Theatre - New York

The Lion King in NYC was incredible. One of the very best musicals we have attended. We took our 15yr. old grandson who to say the least was a bit apprehensive. He loved it! In his words: "Wow !!! I would have never expected that. It was totally awesome. I would like to see it again. I would want my friends to see it" The cast was so talented, the band out of this world. Our hats off to everyone who made this production. We wished that we lived closer. It brought tears to my wife and mine eye's and we think a lump in our grandson's throat at times. We can't say enough good about this production. From Calgary, Canada

I don't know why it didn't rock my world

by pure on 2009-07-17Minskoff Theatre - New York

I can't fault the performers or the sets, but somehow for our family, the Lion King did not blow us away. We had premium tickets and there was nothing wrong with the show. I honestly can't say what it was that made me come away and feel that it was just o.k. I wasn't dazzled or amazed as I expected to be, given the shows reptuation and the price of the tickets. Maybe I was expecting more dancing, maybe I just knew the story line too well from having watched the Disney video of it many times when my children were little or maybe it is just a bit dated. I just don't know. Having said that, the audience loved it and gave them a standing ovation. I left wanting to feel like the rest of the audience felt. We also saw and absolutely loved "9 to 5" and "Wicked".

    Fantastic.......

by MO431 on 2009-07-16Minskoff Theatre - New York

The Lion King is one of my favorite movies. I own the Disney version of the CD, and the movie. I was not prepared for what I saw on Broadway. I was trying to imagine/predict how they would make certain scenes happen and was AMAZED as to how they did so. The music was fantastic, the costumes were fantastic, the production was FANTASTIC!!! The front row seats were great. So close to the actors and music. I traveled to New York with a friend who is a wonderful music teacher and has been the musical director for numerous musicals. At the opening scene, she was so taken aback by the quality that she was crying with joy/excitement. It was wonderful. Strongly recommended. I'd like to see it again.

LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! The Lion King on Broadway was the best I'd ever seen. The characters, the colours, the singing, were all so wonderful. The actor that played Scar was absolutely awesome, he was one of my favorite characters. I never wanted it to end.

    LION KING...AWESOME

by 16dragons on 2009-07-15Minskoff Theatre - New York

We absolutely loved the spectacle that is LION KING....my family and I were fascinated by the mechanics of the animals and the colourfulness of the whole show. We found the acting to be less than Broadway quality but that did not take away from our enjoyment. We are slightly prejudiced as we attend lots of Broadway events so have standards to compare with. All in all though, it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend it to families with young children.

Lion King was the most spectacular show!

by kaytee249 on 2009-07-12Minskoff Theatre - New York

I became emotional when the show started, because it was so powerful. The animals were awesome, the voices were outstanding, the whole production was absolutly flawless. I won't say any more, I don't want to spoil the impact for any one who hasn't seen it.
