  • Lovin' Spoonful

What a wonderful show. The hits just kept on coming. The band was tight and the harmonies were beautiful. The Lovin' Spoonful have a lot of great material which they played flawlessly. When they did 4 cover tunes, they chose very memorable 60's hits rich with 3-part harmony. The jokes and amiable character of the lead singers made the show complete. They engaged the audience and had everyone smiling ear-to-ear! We had a really good time and would definitely go again.

  • Awesome

They were just as strong as ever They seemed like they were having as good a time as we were The background information they shared with us was interesting

  • Cowsills Awesome, Spoonful just okay

The Spoonful did a credible job but were blown away by their opening act, the Cowsills. You really couldn't tell the sound from much of their original work. The daughter for the Mom swap was perfect. I would not see the Spoonful again unless Jon Sebastian was there, in which case I would be first in line. As they were, they seemed really old in comparison with the Cowsills.

The Cowsills were great, they were tight and sounded good together. The Lovin Spoonful were not very good. Perhaps if John Sebastian was still playing with the group it would have been a lot better. A pleasant evening but I wouldn't go again.

I bought the tickets for my husband's birthday as The Lovin' Spoonful had been one of his favourite groups in high school. I didn't realize how much I would enjoy the show and was surprised to find out that I knew every song but one.

  • Finally got to see the Lovin Spoonful

by sailourboy on 2009-11-23Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 3 out of 5

Enjoyed both groups. Found the harmony and the candid humour of the Cowsills refreshing except for Susan's , which none of our group could follow. The LS played well and as always when seeing the songs played just ads so much more to the music. The drum solo and guiter playing was excellent. The only downer of the night was towards the end when the audio was turned up unnecessarily loud to the point of distortion and assalted the eardrums.

  • Great line up.

It was an entertaining night, I like the venue and both acts were good.

  • The Cowsills were great!!!

The Cowsills were really good. I could have listen to them the entire show. But I missed seeing John. He was my fave way back when. I actually got to see them in Vegas a couple of times when I was a kid so I do have something to compare with. Yes there are a few less original members but they still sound so good. For the record, they still have perfect harmony and are worth the money. Go see them and relive a small piece of your childhood if you were around back then. Either way they will entertain you. The Lovin' Spoonful did not thrill me much even though I am familiar with their hits. Sorry guys ... something was lacking, not as much pep & enthusiasm as I would like to see.

  • Awesome, is all I can say !!!

For guys in their late '50 and early '60s they can still belt out the tunes. Pleaseamtly surprised with the Cowsills and their harmony, well done. A special thanks for Susan of the Cowsills ( sister ) who is both a musician and comedian. Great show. TLS were also up for the challenge. Close your eyes and you'd think is was the sixties again. They haven't lost a thing. It was a great evening and would highly recommend seeing the show, should you be luky enough in having it come to your area. Thanks Ladies and gentleman. John

  • Cowsills better than Spoonful

by Glennifer on 2009-11-21Red Robinson Show Theatre - CoquitlamRating: 4 out of 5

The Cowsills were great. Played their hits, some of their lesser known stuff and a few cover tunes from the same genre. They had the audience bopping and swaying all night with there upbeat tempo. There was just enought performer commentary to give us some insight into this lesser known band and still keep the show flowing. They played for an hour and 20 minutes. The Lovin Spoonful played some of their hits which were all well done. A cover medley in the middle needs some work. They only played for just over an hour and the encore was a new song they had written. It was OK but with all the hits they had to choose from I think it would have been better to leave the audience with an old favourite.
