Unforgettable show. I'd go back again tomorrow if I could. It was an incredible performance by a great country Tex/Mex band. Hoping Raul Malo & The Mavericks come back to Ottawa again soon.
I had never heard of these guys till recently. I am a concert addict. seen em all this is one of the top five concerts I have ever seen.the band shows up to play, they are energetic, happy and play to the room.love the tight horn section.would travel to Nashville to see them in a heartbeat. hope they return soon
The show was amazing.....It was like a big family reunion..Everybody singing and dancing even if the security people kept asking people near the edges of the balcony to sit ...The atmosphere from the time they got on stage was electrifying ....2hrs 25 minutes of pure energy ..Excellent ..fabulous show.....!! Hurry back Guys..!!
Incredible. So much fun to watch. Even if you are not a fan of that kind of music, seeing the Mavericks live will win you over. So much energy. Over two hours of great entertainment. Phenomenal musicians and what a voice! The only bad moment was when the lady behind us pounded on our backs when we got up to dance for the last two songs and told us we were rude for standing.
Raul Malo voice was incredible. The band was the same. We were very pleased with the show and would go and see them again in a flash. Just wish they would come to Montreal.
Algonquin Theatre is a great venue with wonderful accoustics and great seating. The Mavericks are a class act, showmanship you rarely see anymore. They compliment each other extremely well on stage and truly enjoy playing their music. And what great music they do play. The sound filled the theatre with their unique style of music and enthusiasm and beautiful vocals and harmonies. I hope they continue to make and perform their music. If you've never heard them, do yourself a favour, purchase some of their music and definitely go see a show. Pure entertainment that will have you moving and dancing in no time.
Great mix of old and new material. A great animated show with everyone participating. They still have that signature Mavericks sound. The band seemed to be having as much fun as we were . Raul Malo's voice is fantastic!!!
Saw them in the late 90's at Copp's They were awesome then & even better now!!!Like fine wine they got even better with age.Hope they come back soon. Wish I had brought my phone to take picturesMaybe someone will share photo's with their reviews
What an awesome show. They are all so talented and 5 of them sing as well. The best concert ever!
Right from the start they we lively and sounded better than ever. The band was tight, rhythmic and fresh, a combination of old school rock, mariachi, cajun, tex-mex and latin but anything but today's country" formula" - and this guy can really sing. Raul is one of those rare singers with perfect pitch and great range, excellent harmonies from the band, a touch of Roy Orbision meets Placido Domingo or Enrico Carusso - I could listen to him for days. I loved the mix of horns, stand-up base, strong drums, perfect keyboards, Duane Eddy duellin' guitars, hard-top strummin' and concertina / accordion. The evening was complete, great music, humour - the only disappointment was that more people should have been there.
The evening was entertaining from start to finish. The nine piece band made up of talented musicians was lead by Raul Malo's beautiful voice. They played many of their old hits and seemed to enjoy performing for the crowd. The crowd was responsive and appreciative of their polished performances. One of the best concerts we have attended. The addition of a few more acoustic performances by Raul would have been the icing on the cake!
