The Lamb seems right to me

by stryder80 on 2012-12-04The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I had been waiting to see this show for quite some time, and I was not disappointed. I was 2nd row center stage, I was able to catch up to and including Lillywhite Lilith and was very pleased with the performance of all the band members. Unfortunately i had to leave as I was battling the stomach flu so I did not get to see the rest of the show, hopefully they will be back with this show again as i would love to see it in its entirety.

Musical Box pefects The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway

by George11thEarlofMar on 2012-12-04The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

4th show of Musical Box (Lamb last year in N.Tonawanda,Selling England & Trick of the Tail) that I have seen in 5 years did not disappoint. The musicianship, the attention to detail, slide show, light show, vocals were so enjoyable. If Genesis with Gabriel was better I regret being born too late (I started being a fan with Trick of the Tail). I regret waiting for so long to see Musical Box. The Musical Box and The Knife encores were an energetic climax to the show, which is par for their shows. The 5 star rating is for Genesis fans only, and really you'll get the most out of it if you are familiar with the Lamb story, as with most Genesis music there is much responsibility placed on the listener who must pay attention. Thanks Musical Box for letting those like myself get a good idea of what I missed, and keeping it alive for so many years and with different concert reproductions.

The Musical Box 5 Star Performance

by 1showfan on 2012-12-03The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

For any fan of Genesis this is a must see show. There is no question, they have recreated the Genesis experience. No wonder members of Genesis actually watch them. Looking forward to the next time they are in T.O. or nearby. We will see them again.

It was like I was at the original concert!

by GenesisFanPLT on 2012-12-03The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

This was the second performance by The Musical Box that I attended...both were The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. I was at the original concert in the 70's and this concert brought me right back to it! This was almost better because I had better seats!!! As slides were showing on I kept remembering them! I was totally blown away by all the musicians and how they inhabited the show! Loved the little Peter stories between songs! Loved the encore and it was great to hear The Knife played live!!! Just wish that The Musical Box had also played Watcher of the Skies. I am a fan!! of the Musical Box. Cannot wait for them to come back!

    I'm still amazed

by royer on 2012-12-03The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I looked through my stack of old concert tickets and counted 27 Musical Box tickets, 7 were from The Lamb. Is that too many? I don't think so cause I would go again in a flash. It is an intricate and amazing musical achievment and The Musical Box does very right by it. I know I've never worked that hard for 2 1/2 hours. I hope they do another tour of The Lamb... or anything else, I'll be there

    Thought it was Genesis!

by FIFJ on 2012-12-03The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Great band with amazing talent and skill, these guys might as well be Genesis, highly recommended this show to anyone, great performance as well as music.

    Outstanding Concert

by FrankOOOOO on 2012-12-03The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Their attention to detail in the recreation of the original concert was incredible. It was replicated right down to the voices. Close your eyes and it takes you back. In high school I saw the original Genesis concert at Maple Leaf Gardens and was keen to see how faithful they were to that experience. On a small note I found the keyboards were a little loud from my seats and drowned out the vocals. Otherwise I would report that it was flawless

    getting tired

by cheesyfromage on 2012-12-03The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I've seen this show several times before and for the most part it was great fun, but the individual performances weren't great. Harmonies were off at points, keyboardist seemed off at times versus other keyboardists in the past who were stellar and the bass and bass pedals were way too loud at points drowning out other instruments. In general the sound levels were off quite a bit. Hard to hear the singer at points. And the singer and bass player are getting fatter and fatter every time I see them yet the whole point is to re-create the original show as precisely as possible. The performance was good, not great. I've seen this band with different players perform great. Seems like they're just getting tired of the show and not as precise as they used to be.

    Still Going Strong

by racketmon on 2012-12-03The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Really enjoyed the show, even though it's my 4th time seeing them (2nd Lamb show). Took my 15 year old and he thought it was "AWESOME", so for you old Genesis fans, maybe take your teens to check it out next time they're in town. Not sold out, so I think maybe people have seen it now and don't need to see it again, so you wonder how long they'll keep it up. They do an incredible job of taking you back in time to the early days - if you haven't seen it, and you're a prog rock/Genesis fan, check it out!

    Musical Box Review

by Rhythmmethod on 2012-12-03The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

The band was exceptional...great job recreating a classic album. The venue was too small, and the sound sucked...way too loud for a venue that size. They should be playing bigger theaters. And a better sound crew would help - volume levels seemed all over the map.

    The Lamb

by TumblingDice on 2012-12-03Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I saw Genesis perform the Lamb in 1974 and this past weekend I saw the Musical Box, for the first time, perform the Lamb. They were really good but, unfortunately, the lyrics could not be heard throughout much of the show. Not a bid deal to me as I know the lyrics off by heart. But my gf doesn't and I was trying to introduce her to another band from my past. As you can imagine, she had no idea what "Gabriel" was saying. One of the things I remember from 1974 was being spellbound by Gabriel with his voice and nuances. It's just too bad that 40 years later they can't get the sound right. Perhaps it was our position in the room but we were sitting right beside the sound and lighting board.

Musical Box - Danforth Music Hall

by Rooster2201 on 2012-12-02The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Excellent concert. I find the Lamb has a couple of boring tracks, but that's my opinion. Carpet Crawlers was nailed perfectly. The encores pumped me right back up. I'll see these guys every time they come to Toronto. Selling England is a better concert. I'm just saying.

    Memorable but a bit mumbly

by AnotherHabfan on 2012-12-02The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

The musical recreation was awesome right down to the 70's instrumentation (Keyboards), but the vocals often got drowned out. Venue is pretty quaint - like seeing a concert at a friends rec room - which works well for these more intimate concerts.

Top shelf concert by the Musical Box

by marcbo57 on 2012-12-02The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

As always, The Musical Box played a note perfect show, reproducing The Lamb tour from Genesis. I've docked them one star for not playing a few more songs during the encore. The audience had earned it.

    musical box was great

by TRrr on 2012-12-02The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

The Musical Box brought us into the world of the Lamb and it was an amazing journey. The band is so tlaented and the singer made us beleive it was Peter Gabriel once again. Teh quality and skill of the musicians was excellent. The only way to improve would be a stronger louder mike for Rael, as the words were drowned out in the louder tunes.

    Must See for Genesis Fans

by ToneDeaf on 2012-12-01Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I didn't know what to expect going into the show, but was amazed at how good the band and "Peter" were and how they so accurately reproduced the Lamb. The treat at the end was their performing the Musical Box. It was actually a bit bizarre sitting there, thinking these guys are so talented, but yet they're just a recreation of someone else. My only complaint was the mixing was poor and, as someone else noted before, it was often hard to hear "Peter's" voice and sometimes the base was overwhelming. Given the band has been quite successful, it's too bad they haven't invested in polishing these rough edges. The acoustics of the hall probably didn't help either. Anyway, old Genesis fans should see these guys at least once.

Well the band was in fine form.....as always they exceeded my expectations...From the Original slides & props from the original tour. Musically & visually a stunnig show. For those of you Genesis Fans who were too young to see the Original Show this is as good as it gets JUST AWESOME!!

Great job as usual Musical Box

by diggerInOntario on 2011-12-11The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I have been waiting to see The Lamb for 35 yrs! Finally, and what a great job they did. This is my 4th time to see them and just unforgettable. The only criticism was the audio from "Peter". We were not able to hear him over the instruments. Not a big deal if you know the words to the songs, but a complete waist of time if you were new to the music.

    Musical Box - the Lamb

by Rooster2201 on 2011-12-09The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

The Musical Box is amazing, truly amazing. The original concert replication is perfect. No question. Personally, this is the second best concert performance by Musical Box, just behind Selling England by the Pound, but only because I prefer one album over the other. I'm still hooked and look forward to the next show - whatever and whenever.
