  • Wonderful!

by Hm on 2021-12-08Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

My 10 year old daughter and I very much enjoyed the show, beautiful music, costumes and sets, and amazing dance talent. Would recommend kids know the story before the show however as kids May got lost somewhat with there being no words.

  • Great Performance 'tis the Season...

by RBYEG on 2021-12-08Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Always great way to put you in the spirit of Christmas, and given the lock downs over the last 18 months... its just nice to get out and have an evening of Arts & Culture.

  • Amazing as usual

by Erik on 2021-12-08Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

I take my daughter every year, and it’s always the highlight of our Christmas season. Our only complaint was that they took out two of our favourite dances this year.

  • Date with my grand daughter

by Suzanne on 2021-12-08Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the experience and warmth of the volunteers and theatre atmosphere. The ballet was vibrant. Snowflake scene done so beautifully and opening party mice solder dance sequence wonderful. The Russian dance was fun and really stood out . I missed the Arabian dance and Chinese dance at the sugar Plum fairies party.

  • Wonderful Performance!

by Maureen on 2021-12-08Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

It was wonderful to be able to enjoy a live performance again! The dancing was amazing, and the story never grows old. A welcome release from the last year and a half of lockdown. Although I felt somewhat uncomfortable with the huge crowd that gathered, I was reassured that 99% of the audience wore masks, and the Jubilee checked vaccination status on entry. Attending was taking a chance, but hopefully a minimal one, and worth taking the risk to watch such a fabulous performance, in my opinion. Thanks to the Jubilee and Alberta Ballet for going ahead with bringing back some normalcy to our lives!

  • Magnificent!!

It was my first time going to the Nutcracker, and I’m in my thirties. I loved it so much! I’m a big fan of Tchaikovsky, so enjoyed all the songs and skilled ballerinas, young and experienced. The atmosphere was great with a full auditorium and applause after each set. Good memories.

  • Granddaughters Loved It!!

by SafetyLady on 2021-12-07Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

We were up in the right first balcony, great seats. Wasn't sure if the granddaughters would understand it without any music or talking and if the performance could hold the 4 year olds attention the entire time and she absolutely loved it; asked her mom questions throughout the whole performance of what they were doing and what did it mean. The eight year old loved the costumers and thought it was so great because she had taken ballet a couples years prior. Thoroughly enjoyed our Saturday girls time and will be looking in the schedule for more performances to attend.

  • Disappointment in 2021 Alberta Ballet Nutcracker

by BevF on 2021-12-07Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

First of all the dancing was superb - all of them - particularly the main characters - that being said this Nutcracker seemed very hurried and unsure of itself. Clara never falls asleep wakes up to the Xmas tree growing she simply looks for the Nutcracker late then everything begins to unfold rapidly thereby making this production very confusing! And where was the Arabic Dancer - very much a HIGHLIGHT in this story - she was simply not there at all. I have seen former productions of the Alberta Ballet presenting the Nutcracker and they were MUCH SUPERIOR so far as the storyline goes. It was also confusing when does the Nutcracker become the Prince? This particular production expects too much of the viewer. One of our guests was not familiar with the story so it became a dreadful discombobulated event to try & help the guest with storyline that was dreadfully confusing. I hope The Alberta Ballet tweaks this storyline back to what it was years before. Anyone really interested should watch 'Nutcracker The Movie' done in 1986 and you will get the entire storyline fabulously done.

  • Breathtaking dancing

by Tidyworld on 2021-12-07Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the performance, costumes, music and holiday experience. It was a tad confusing that they didn't announce the intermission as some people got up to leave not knowing it wasn't the end. I would go again next year.

  • Took my 12 yr old granddaughter

by mdme z on 2021-12-07Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Other than all the Covid protocols we really enjoyed the performance. One thing I would have liked is for the coat check to be open. I assume it wasn’t due to Covid but I was not comfortable with all the parkas draped over the seats in front of us. I think that is also a virus spreader.

  • Solid but predictable

by BalletLegs on 2021-12-07Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

Lovely solid dancing, gorgeous costumes and sets, just a slightly less than engaging level of challenge/diversity in dance choice. It also lacked a sense of drama. Given the story and opportunities this was the only significant disappointment. Perfect length of program. Symphony was bright and perfection. Enjoyed the Russe dance + the Snow Queen. Our sweet toy maker suffered a lack of presence as a master magician needed in Clara's dream. Our mouse King was not sinister at all and sadly forgettable.

  • Very special experience

The entire show was organized and well communicated. The performance was incredible. So much talent from the dancers and musicians to the costumes and stage design to the lovely theatre.

This was the first time for my husband and I to attend a ballet and we loved it. Your dancers were amazing. We were there because a neighbour girl was in the performance so we came to support her but ended up really enjoying everything. Thank you for a Great Experience😊👍

The Nutcracker was spectacular. I loved the photo booth with the sleigh and the photo areas with the chairs. It made the night extra special.

  • Beautiful

by Bambi on 2021-12-07Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

It was a beautiful performance. I took my 5 year old, thinking she would love it. She enjoyed being there with me but not so much the rest of the matinee show. She said it was boring because there was no talking and no snacks….so if your child is expecting a movie, they will be disappointed HAHA

  • Disappointed

by Jen on 2021-12-07Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 1 out of 5

Beautiful music, dancing and choreography was sooo bad. The libretto was cut and most awaited potions of the ballet were taken away. Really disappointed. High prices and low quality of everything. Cutting corners on everything, Alberta Ballet. Too bad!!

  • Ticket problems for the Nutcracker

by AOP on 2021-12-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

The performance of the Nutcracker was superb!! However, we just made it due to a kerfuffle with our tickets. Why were they cancelled? Thanks to a very nice person at the box office at the Jube, we made it just in time. Your system for getting the bar codes on my iphone leaves a lot to be desired. I hop this problem will be resolved before the next time we need your service.
