Great show....amazed at the speedy jumps setup. Awesome competitors and horses. Terrific eventing. Fabulous show jumping. Roadsters were an added treat.

    It was a long evening

by Seaseas on 2014-11-10Ricoh Coliseum - Toronto

The Greenhawk Jumping championship was good to see. In fact all the events on Friday Nov.7/14 were great to watch. However, the set up for the jumping events was a long dragged out process. We waited at least a half hour for set up for the last event, which ended at 11:45pm. We had been sitting since 6:30pm. It made for a very long night. Years ago when we attended, the setup men were quick and efficient. YOu could see they took pride in it. Friday night, they seemed completely lost, moving jumps from one spot to another, to another. It made the evening drag on too much.

    Royal Show Jumping

    by Tracy1 on 2014-11-10Ricoh Coliseum - Toronto

Took our 9 year old horse LOVER and rider to the Royal again this year. In particular, she was desperate to see show jumping.... and it was fabulous. Although I purchased seating last minute, we had wonderful seats. The drawback.... people TALKING!! So disruptive even my daughter turned around and "shhh'd" people. It was very distracting.

More city than country, but still a fun experience

by DarkAndTall on 2012-11-14Exhibition Place - Toronto

The Royal Winter Fair was a great event this year, as usual, however it seemed like there was a much heavier focus on city life than country life, which seemed to dominate the rest of the show. As usual, there were a variety of several animals; dairy cows, horses, pigs, sheep, lamb, etc. There was a small feeding zoo that was insanely crowded, partially due to the horrible way they laid it out. If you are in the mood for food, there was quite a good selection. Hank Daddy's BBQ (Pulled Pork Parfait, mmmmm), Bacon Nation (even pigs like bacon), and a variety of other local and not so local places. There was also Pizza Pizza, because really, what would an event in Toronto be without cheap and burnt pizza? There were lots of vendors, mostly selling equestrian and dog related items, such as harnesses, coats, riding crops. We picked up a ball-in-a-ball dog toy thing. It wasn't a hit with the puppy. Overall, it was a great show, with lots to see, just with a higher city focus in my opinion than in previous years.

    Royal Winter Fair

by katinboots on 2012-11-14Exhibition Place - Toronto

So many animals - that was beautiful! Also got to catch the Superdogs show, they are so talented and really put on a show. The disappointment was the food selection - typical amusement park garbage, fast food, all you could smell in that surrounding area was FRIED OIL! Yuck. Did not buy anything to eat there. Otherwise, lovely, many things to see and do.

was not as good as previous years

by toluda on 2012-11-13Exhibition Place - Toronto

Not enough vendor and less display. One of the vendor was really rude to us. The atmosphere was not as great. Maybe because we came on a monday instead of the first night. Anyway was not as welcoming as usual.

My family and I enjoyed the fair. It was very interesting to learn about the animals and about farming in general. I thoroughly enjoyed the vendors as well. My only wish is that there was more seating in the food court area.

Fun way to pass some time

by Christos on 2012-11-13Exhibition Place - Toronto

The Dog Show was fun, there was the typical CNE food vendors with all the great-tasting and generally unhealthy food and lots of vendors. It's worth going at least once.

    Has the spark gone out?

by lparkell on 2012-11-13Exhibition Place - Toronto

I have attended the Royal Winter Fair annually for 17 years and am becoming more and more disappointed each year. The spark seems to have dimmed. I was unable to find any birds or rabbits being shown this year and found that the over-concentration of events geographically made it feel overwhelmingly busy everywhere I went. There was a time when the displays and shows were far more spread out which in my opinion made for a more enjoyable experience. Maybe it's time to take a year off.....?

    Royal Was Fun With Kevin!

    by TryinSumthinDif12 on 2012-11-06Exhibition Place - Toronto

I just experienced a fun, well-guided, behind the scenes tour of the Royal Winter Fair with my husband & a couple of friends this past Saturday. We were hosted by one of Canada's Iron Chef hosts Kevin Brauch! He is an absolute blast. The night was well organized (once it started ; ) and was full of positive folks out for a fun night ! We explored the stables, back alleys and the seemingly secret bars of the Royal (who knew?) and had some time in between to dote on wee rabbits and silly goats. Horse show, cowboy bars, a lovely folk singer called and country music! All in all a great night with bevies flowing 'o plenty & witty commentary along the way. Thumbs up for trying something new! Thx Kevin & crew. PS Next time some snacks would have been ideal.

    Not as Promoted; Poor Venue

by yyzalt on 2012-11-04Exhibition Place - Toronto

Thank goodness the meal and wines were good. But overall poor value, and Padma seemed to just be a "name draw", as she had nothing to do with the event. Unbearable band playing concert next to area, ruining dinner experience. All in all, an unfortunate Wine Align showing, as normally their events are excellent.

Lots of opportunity for city folk to interact and learn about farms and animals. - people at booths were friendly and happy to educate all of us - young and old. Hands on experience and touching was safely allowed and possible. Purchasing tickets on- line was easy and appreciated since it meant that my young grandson & myself DID NOT have to stand in a purchasing line when we arrived at the front doors. Just walked right in to The Fair.

We drove from Montreal to attend the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair event on the first Saturday of its opening. There wasn't much going on . Absolutely quite boring in fact. Waste of money and time. We telephoned prior to purchasing the tickets on the internet and the information staff were very good at lying about things to do for the date that we attended. We will never attend or recommend thisparticular fair in the future.

    The Royal Ag Winter Fair

    by Ally200 on 2011-11-15Exhibition Place - Toronto

I had a great time at the Fair. There were a lot of vendors and things to educate yourself on ( rabbits, wool industry etc...) HOWEVER I love goats and I found the lack of them at the fair a big let down. Reading this you have probably had a little chuckle and I would too but honestly the majority of the goats were in the petting zoo and it was a zoo of crazy children and their parent in there...I didn`t dare enter in case I didn`t make it out alive! Seriously though it was a great time. All the vendors were friendly, the animals were beautiful and the staff at the Fair worked their butts off to do their best. I intend on going again next year :)

    Royal Agricultural Winter Fair

by Downviewcowgirl on 2011-11-15Exhibition Place - Toronto

It was our first vist to the Royal Winter Fair and it was absolutely brilliant! So well organised with all the different sections. Very educational for all the city slickers who had no idea where food comes from. Congratulations to all the exhibitors who did an excellent job of presenting their stock. Thought the act of Remembrance was lovely with search lights an added attraction - certainly wont forget 11/11/11. My husband would have a grouch that the Ring Steward in the holstein classes on Thursday that he lined the cattle up where he couldn't get them all in a straight line without the obstruction of a centre pillar. Ther was simply no excuse as there was plenty of space in front or behind it!!!! How could he not see that the pillar was not going to let them all stand in a straight row! Perhaps you should tell him our observations. Also the sound from the intercom at the Sale of the Stars was deafening. Still have ringing in our ears!!!!
