THE STAMPEDERS IN CONCERT:

The Stampeders first stormed the Canadian rock scene in 1964 and they haven't slowed down ever since. Whether they're strumming a double-neck electric on "Sweet City Woman" or charging through fan-favorite "Ramona", the trio still possesses the same rock ‘n' roll chops they did 50 years ago. As one of Canada's most legendary groups, the Stampeders give ticket buyers one exhilarating performance after another on their exciting tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Originally known as the five-piece group the Rebounds, the Stampeders formed in 1965 and became a trio comprised of Rich Dodson, Ronnie King, and Kim Berly. The band rose to fame with their No. 1 smash "Sweet City Woman" from their Gold-certified 1971 debut Against the Grain. Since then the Juno Award-winning outfit has had eleven Top 20 singles, three certified gold records, and toured extensively throughout their native Canada. With their impressive catalog and signature style, the Stampeders have wowed fans for years with their must-see live shows.

This show was very entertaining. The band played all their hits and their 3 old men on stage patter was funny. I worked with them around 1980/81 so enjoyed it thouroughly! Great to reminisce.

    Still Rocking

by GregH on 2022-04-04Academy Theatre for Performing Arts - Lindsay

They were rocking in the 70's and now that they are in their 70's, the Stampeders can still rock the house. They maybe a bit slower moving around the stage but the band has not lost their talent. What a Great Performance! Thank-you Stampeders

Still Good But Near End of Careers

by SeldomThere on 2022-04-04Academy Theatre for Performing Arts - Lindsay

The music was great but the band does not have many years left. Ronnie King (Cornelius) is clearly showing his age and has no more than 2 years left of touring. Rich Dodson, while still very capable now, is also showing his age and slowing down. Kim Burley is still spry as can be which is incredible. Guys, you all have had fabulous careers, much longer than most and have nothing to be ashamed of. But, sooner of later, the time comes to bow out as your playing and singing quality will degrade. Please do so when this time comes so that you can leave us all with nothing but great memories.

    The Stampeders

    by L. S. on 2019-06-17Arden Theatre - St Albert

The Arden theatre was not the right venue for the band. The music was quite loud for the space. It seemed the music was bouncing off the walls from all directions. Could not make out the words for the songs even the bslads were drowned out.

    70s Stampeders in their 70s

by meandmystone on 2017-11-13River Cree Resort & Casino - Enoch

I loved this concert! They strolled out during their introduction and just started playing one hit after another. I found their music was very tight but the vocals might have been a little weak on some songs(due to age I'm sure) I've been to many concerts and now that I'm older I much prefer this type of setting watching older musicians reliving the past.

    They Still Have it!

by Aklak on 2017-11-13River Cree Resort & Casino - Enoch

Unbelievable that the original 3 are still rock'n it, they played a kick-ass show! No fancy gimmicks, I never saw a single tech, they did all their own tuning and threw in a few comedic moments along the way. They don't look anything like their picture anymore, but don't let that fool you, their musicianship has not faded. They met fans following the show, are very personable and down to earth. I would definitely go and see them again. Played all of my favorites except Me and My Stone.

    Enjoyable Trio!

by Atee on 2015-04-28Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

These guys had to compete with Game 6 period 3 of the Calgary - Vancouver Stanley Cup playoff game at the same time. You can't be in two places at the same time, and as a Calgary Flames fan, I had to make a difficult choice. I chose The Stampeders and was not disappointed. The Flames did not disappoint either, as they came back from a 3-4 deficit to win in the third period 7-4, albeit with 2 empty netters. But back to the Stampeders. I have never seen them perform live, as back in their early days, I was too young or didn't have the money. I was very happy to see them live. Although they are certainly older - as many of us are as well - I was very impressed with their positive energy, solid vocals and dexterity on the instruments. Most of their songs sounded just like I remember. The smaller venue that they performed at (Deerfoot Inn & Casino) is great for a more intimate show, but seating at the back would be less than ideal. I would highly recommend seeing The Stampeders live. My hats off to them for showing their great talent and character.
